Very good video thank you ... the one challenge I had was actually gettng a cracked jet OUT of the tub. The tubing was glued to the jet housing so I had to cut the hose to be able to get the lock nut off of the jet backing housing in order to get it to be removable through the hot tub hole.
Anywhere sell generic sized gaskets like the one that came on the new jet houseing? Seems like everyone is out of stock for my exact jet rising Dragon
Get the size of it and call or Google that gasket. It will be for water. And there has to be somewhere you can buy that other than just looking at a pool or hot tub store.
I inherited a used Balboa five person spa. If water is in the air lines, does that mean rubber gasket(s) need to be replaced or the jet(s)?
Does the air turn on and off on the Jets? If yes, don't worry about it. If no, replace the jet housing.
There are different pressure ratings on the clear hoses. I have seen 30,45 psi at 70degrees and then it jumps to reinforced which is not clear. Is there a minimum rating recommended?
Depends on the amount of jets and the HP of a Pump. Most times its clear hose at 50psi but can go down to 25psi. The "AIR" side of the jet housing doesn't matter the psi.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas thank you. And thank you for the channel. Exactly what I needed for replacement of all jet body overhaul

It seems like movement of the flex hose over time and expansion/contraction of the pipe is going to crack the hard glue seal over time. Is that really the best thing to use here? Are there better options? Also is it okay to use a pex crimp on the hose fittings instead of the friction clamps? I need to "update" all the jets in a tub to the screw in style since the snap ins are no longer made. I want something that won't leak over time. Not the easiest or quickest fix, but the longest lasting fix. Not a job I want to do twice.
Well, don't really need to use pex clamps on it. Put glue on the barbs before you put the hose on and then clamp it. If there is ever an issue, at least you can take it apart easier. The leaks around the jets/housing are more common than at the hose fitting. The problem is, when they build these tubs no one puts silicone around them along with the gaskets. More than likely it's because of cost.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas Thanks! not sure I could get a pex crimp tool in some of those spaces any way. Thanks for the experience with the silicone. It's funny because I see the a few new jet designs being marketed as "no need for silicone". Not on my watch! It's extra insurance and I agree the most likely place the joint will fail.
@@TheItalianDNA I put silicone on EVERYTHING
How do you get the old jets out?
Great question. Because there are so many different types of jets, it's very hard to show how to remove them. Plus, you can't really see how it's done. It's more of a "feel". Some jets "click" in and some will "screw" in. BUT. Most will turn to the left or right and click out. I can say, I break a lot of jets trying to get them out. There's really no reason to take them out unless they are already broken. Maybe I'll do a video on some of them. Thanks again for the question.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas thanks for the quick reply and info, have a good day
I'd really like to know how to get the old jet housings removed, the leaky ones that are encrusted in foam an inaccessible with tools. Can they be cut out?
Because the jet housings are threaded from behind, the foam makes it very hard to unscrew. I've cut them out before. Just do what you can to remove them. Try and not to damage the shell.
Where does one buy new hot tub jet housings?
There's many many different types and styles of jets and their housing. Have to take the jet out, try and find it just search online. or. Take a few pictures of it and send to a hot tub store to see if they can find it.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas I thought we much. My got tub is a Calspa much like the one in your video. Appreciate your help.
Holds more dodo than smaller ones
great video, I have a question on removing a jet. Im trying to remove a 2" waterway jet. I turned it counter clockwise until it shut off and then a bit more. it will not come off. I tried on the jet next to it and it came off. I twisted the jet back to the right and then to the left and its really tight and will not come off. Any thoughts?
Always to the left. BUT. If jets are old, they will break. I break jets all the time trying to remove them. Also. Not all jets come out that same way.
@@VIPPoolsandSpas thanks for the reply...the second jet I removed is the same as the one that is now really tight after turning to to the left. even when I tried turning it back to the right to pop it back into place no change.
