The stock looks fantastic, Jeff is obviously as talented with walnut as you are with the internals! A 500%+ increase in shot count is mega impressive, just shows how inefficient the original gun was. Great work
Thanks, yeah he does make a good job with the stocks, these rifles could be so good out the box, a softer spring and a reg, then you would have a wildcat level of performance for £300-400 less, shame really but there you go. Thanks for watching
You chaps just keep 'knocking it out of the park'! Excellent work, excellent results! The initial upgrades that you performed on my Akela (same as yours, minus addition of the SSG) quite literally transformed mine in terms of shot count, consistency, and accuracy, and have made it an absolute joy to use. I'll be submitting it to you again soon for a Part 2 fettle with your new SSG 😉👍
This is getting boring to say.....another great video - and for someone who doesn't machine, really interesting to see how its made. Looking forward to the next project now. keep safe.
Awesome video wow I'm always amazed at your videos and how you explain what you've done to the gun that is very impressive ..... what a gun now that you made these awesome upgrades thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍
Unfortunately these are not for sale, they have to be made to fit an individual rifle and take a little bit of setup time, with making spring washers and such, so they won't be for sale. Thanks for watching
Doesn't lowering a lot the regulated pressure + opening the power knob of the akela achieve the same goal of non bouncing hammer ? To have all the air power to go into the barrel and very little left to push the valve to fast to allow a counter action of the hammer ? Because I did install a regulator but I can't forge an SSG like you did. What was your regulated pressure/caliber on this akela ? BTW did you try to use slugs with this gun ?
I purchased an Akela for an 84 year old friend that needed to defend his bird feeder from illegal feathered aliens that were chasing the locals away and consuming all of his retirement check. It is in the US so it is about a 17-18 ft-lb .177 as purchased and only getting 2-3 magazines on a fill. I guess the first step is to upgrade it with a regulator and then is there a source for a “sling shot” hammer adjuster? Some of us have hex keys and screwdrivers but no lathes and mills. Thanks, wonderful videos.
Once you get the reg you should be getting tones more shots, the SSG is more of a tinkerers part you need to build it for the rifle really, we don't make and sell them, I would recommend fitting the reg and seeing how you go, I do have a full reg install already on the channel if you need a little more info. Thanks for watching.
So my gun makes a loud noise in the back at the hammer spring compartment ,,,I'm guessing the spring is to tight ,,,and i need a shorter spring. How do you shorten spring a do you have a video of that
I see that you are a top expert in this field, have you ever considered building a balanced valve or even a solenoid valve (Daystate, Gorilla, Scout Airgun)?
Super intrigued about the Skout rifle at shot show, already got my name down for one of those, we have a few projects already going on and making our own air rifle will be one of them, have not worked out exactly what we are going to do yet but it definitely on the cards, Thanks for watching.
Would you please help me make SSG with spring and hammer for Kral np03 to have consistent 40 ftlb energy as I have this rifle in BANGALDESH and the power restriction isn’t an issue there like the U.K. sub-12 ftlb. I have watched your videos and feel you have all the required expertise to such work including giving me the correct strength of the valve spring to go with it. At present I am using two hammer springs to get 10-15 shorts per fill but the short curve is very erratic with starting high and finishing 10 ftlb in the lower side.
Nice mods to this cute little gun. This is great info for people with a limited budget. Once again, well done.
yes we hope to do another limited budget gun soon they can be great little guns 👍 thanks for watching

Thanks Tony, the Akela does turn into a really nice rifle with a few upgrades. Thanks for watching

Glad you enjoyed it Tim, Thanks for watching
Have you considered making a ssg kit and selling to other akela owners, I know I would buy it.
The rifle looks lovely and another very informative video for me and most Air gunners, keep the good work up guys👍🏼
Great work once again Jake, keep em coming mate the stock looks amazing.
Thanks, will do!
Thanks Jeff, excellent vid again. Great achievement here with the shot count.
Thanks, every little helps,Thanks for watching
You do great work I have been playing around with my Kral jumbo trying to come up with a SSG.
Awesome video wow I'm always amazed at your videos and how you explain what you've done to the gun that is very impressive ..... what a gun now that you made these awesome upgrades thanks for sharing bsafe buddy 👍
Thanks, we try and make the videos understandable for everyone, they can get a little long winded but hopefully they are helpful. Thanks for watching.
the rifle looks good and great work on SSG
Thanks, it was a good little project, thanks for watching.
Impressive work Jeff, really loving the way the gun looks 👍👍
Cheers, we are very happy with it, the akela has been transformed now, it really is a nice little rifle. Thanks for watching
so when are these going to be available to purchase...?
Unfortunately these are not for sale, they have to be made to fit an individual rifle and take a little bit of setup time, with making spring washers and such, so they won't be for sale. Thanks for watching
Did you have to bore the hammer out ? How much does the hammer weigh if you remember ? Thank you !
Another master class! 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello Jeff. Thank you for making this video. Would you have any drawings for the SSG parts, or dimensions you could share? Thanks!

Great video. I plan to do all of your mods to my Akela. Where did you get your barrell band?
