Modular terrain? I’ve never wanted to magnetize terrain until now.
This is my favourite vid you have ever done! I don't think you have ever come across as excited as this in any other video. It is so infectious. I wasn't sure whether I was going to pick up the box or just the rule book to read through. After watching I am sold on the box. As someone who has been collecting Warhammer for years and am yet to play a single game I honestly think this will be the set that gets me playing. The fact you can play with just a few models it takes away the intimidation factor completely... and I can get to play with a bunch of different kill teams. I am certainly very excited! Thanks for the vid :-)

This was excellent, thanks so much for sharing. I've been looking to get back into 40K after 15 years... and it all seems a bit daunting, so I honestly couldn't be more excited for Kill Team. It looks like they've designed all of this so well. Great job GW.
Iv just got back into WAR 40k after a 20 year break and honestly it feels more user friendly and quicker to learn, only problem is now I earn my own money its denting my pocket alot now :D

I like that terrain coloring ... dry brushing over the tan and age wash for the walls ... looks great. Thank you for giving a high-level overview of gameplay in this, expanding this "unboxing" to a very informative overview of the game.
I know you said how you painted the terrain but can you do a painting tutorial on how you did it? I would like to watch a step by step.

I’m a historical “rank and flank” guy but Kill Team is one fantasy type game that interests me, mostly due to the skirmish aspect of it and not having to build up large armies for play.

it seems like a good move, i like the red and grey guys etc. Reminds me of when I was a kid, Im 37 now, the first time I was bought something from GW, the first minis I owned, was hero quest the board game, somewhere around 89? that was followed by space crusade. My friends older brother was into the full hobby, he had marines, space hulk etc, but really those 2 slightly more casual board games with their coloured plastic minis was a big big entry into the hobby for so many people at the time. I feel like a lot of GWs success through the 90s can be traced back to those 2 games.
Gw had little stores down back streets with windows full of strange figures, but hero quest and space crusade were in tescos displayed big, the equiv of wallmart for those over the pond, the exposure was gigantic and the games were small scale enough for people to just play out of the box as a self contained entity.
Just purchased the Core book. Getting into the game with a friend. Can't wait to dust off the paint brushes, the minis and re-start the hobbying part of my life. Kill Team looks like a tremendous way to do it and slowly build back to 40K miniwargaming

I was scared for a second that there weren’t any skulls, it’s a skull based economy you know. Also lovely video, it’s multiplied my excitement. It kills me that me and my dad won’t get it until August.
BIG thumbs up on the Krylon Camouflage spray! I was skeptical to how it would take GW washes, but it worked like a champ! Knocked out the full set of Kill Team terrain with a single 6 dollar can of Khaki.
Like @Adam Waring below, I jumped into 40k 15 years ago as well, but this was when my then teenage sons were into it.(.. and I think maybe having Space Crusade lying around the house kicked off the 40k interest...)
Too much too soon, overwhelmed by rules and none of us knew how to play, and so we gave up and left it dormant. Fast forward to recent days and after prompting the youngest bloke to give minis painting a go since he's unemployed, I start looking into GW again and I'm blown away by their inclusiveness.
Shadespire is a blast. I'm actually enjoying taking my time painting the handful of minis that I have.
I was looking at Necromunda when news of Kill-team dropped.
I don't have the time/patience for a fully blown game (although it's waaay easier to find people willing to teach you now moreso than it was back in the day when it felt like you only found savant cheese-builders with lightning fast re-rolls...) so dedicated skirmish rules that aren't an appendage to a core game are right up my alley.
Every point Uncle Atom (pfft "uncle".. I bet he's younger than me :) ) in this video with respect to multpile factions had me nodding emphatically.

Me and my brother have had warhammer 40k on the corner of our eyes for years , about a week and a half ago we decided to give in and start buying miniatures , we bought a big box which we thought was something like a minigame in it of its self, with possibly terrain and what not , it was quite recommended on videos , dark imperium. We realized it didnt had terrain, no problem. We also thought it would come with cards or something , we couldnt find tokens nor cards nor anything , just alot of sprews for figurines and a set of dice , ruler , and a big book with 2 booklets(we thought they were going to include actual codexes for the factions , but it only has info on the included miniatures .) I was confused because it was the biggest box on the shop , yet so many smaller boxes included terrains together with the units, such as this set hes reviewing .
I actually loved to to arm the figurines , we bought extra things miniatures for both (my brother was into deathguards and i found space marines to be okey i guess .). It was our first time , so on our first trip to the shop , we thought we got everything (We bought what appeared to be a big paint set, but it turned out to be just a ¨painting station¨), then we had to do a coupole of extra visits to a local ¨hobby shop(gardening , painting , and exercise)¨ we bought what we thought to be the correct paints (water-based acryllic) , a small knife , etc.Then we realized that the paint we bought was complete shit , so we took a trip to the tabletop shop once more , bought what we needed and started painting .
Im about done with all my space marines , but they all look super glunky and too shiny(we bought a big can of shade, and the manual said to dip the figurines and then shake the excess.) , they look like they were painted by a kidnergardean(we bought paint stripper to take off the shitty paint from before, so it had an extra layers of gunk hiding on places like armpits ,), and my brother took the long road to excruciatingly paint his miniatures, they look quite good , better than in the box IMO, but hes only done with 3 of the big ones. We havent played a single round, we bought a big box with terrain and a mat, which has been sitting on the corner for about a week now......my question is, are we terribly slow, or does it take soo much time to build , paint , and play ?
Did your first figurines came out like FKING MUD CAKE (like mine did) , or did you actually painted them as good as possible? And how long did you took before playing a match for the first time ? Also , were the hell can i buy the cards with the info of the troops?
EDIT: Also, yes guys , this shit is expensive, i have never burned so much cash in a 1 week-long time period .(500+ including paints and tools)
This set is so popular that nowhere near me has had stock for weeks now. Keep getting emails saying, hopefully just a week more... Can't wait to get started with it!
As someone who always wanted to get into 40k but never had the budget to go full army Kill Team is a blessing. Tho knowing me I'll just go for the book and work on a custom team using main line 40k models.
Seeing how excited Uncle Atom is for new formula Kill Team is getting me super stoked to pick this up. Those new terrain pieces look like a hobbyists dream.

That is called a buttress, a portcullis is the iron gate in a castle / keep. :)
It would have been nice to see all of the terrain in the set on the game board to get an idea of exactly what all is provided in the set when built.

Great Vid, Awesome Unboxing! I'm pretty sure that the original Space Hulk and several other 'board games' that GW sells/has sold come unpainted in opposing colors for opposing sides, for exactly the reason you mentioned. Its a perfect way to get new and returning players to PLAY while also enticing them to paint. The quality on GW minis is great if you're used to M.B. (and other board game manufacturers') figures - they just call to you to take a closer look, to ask, "What is that bit for?" "Is that weapon usable, or for show?" "What does that sigil or crest mean?" Cant wait to see how much detail there is in the KT boxes and kits, but I basically already know. Also, I'm really impressed with the buildings. G.W. has really squeezed about as much mileage as they can from their pricing model which, if you think about it, is the only other way to go if you're not going to reduce prices, which we all know, they're not. Thanks Adam! Keep 'em coming!!!
I can't wait to see what i can do with my nids, So hyped for Kill team, I am hoping I can get it by this December. I really want that starter box so I have more than one team to play with and some terrain. I just got into 40k with a start collecting tyranids box and a lichtor.
Narrative battle reports please! Kill team is a great opportunity to apply skulls/thropies/kill markings on your models and watch them grow.

Haven't played in years...like 10 or so. Kept some old stuff and started making some squads just for fun last year. This is perfect as I prefer a more personal/storyline/fluff gaming experience and I am cheap. This will be the first rule book I have owned in forever. Great review. Looks as much fun as I had hoped.

Kill Team looks phenomenal! I like playing narrative campaigns of 40K, and this is just the thing to add some flavor to those, with commando raids, sabotage, etc. Also, it’s amazing what you can get done in twelve minutes when you put your mind to it. 😃
Thank you for sharing. I've played a game or two of Kill Teams many many years ago and have always liked the lore of 40K but, never had the finances to play with a full army. Now with Kill Teams, I just may get the opportunity to play.

Well I am one of those people who probably has enough terrain and models to just buy the core book. After seeing you unbox the whole thing and painting that terrain in 10 minutes ;) I think I'll go for the box set. Thanks Adam for a very good video and I admire your self discipline. I’ve just found your channel (while looking for Warhammer AoS Champions stuff admittedly) and it has made me really interested in games like this! (Skirmishy war games I guess?). Well done to you sir. You’ve at least started the process of converting a ccg/tcg player and board gamer to the hobby.
Maybe I’m an easy target as I was already into things like painting minis and some C’MON games. But never mind that and another well done you!

The terrain was designed to be stackable. GW seem to have really sorted out how to add value and put some more thought in. It's a step change to the last couple of decades.

I'm really looking forward to this. After many failed attempts over the years to get started in 40K I've always been defeated by the amount of time it takes me to paint up a big enough army to play. This is exactly the bite sized 40K I want with what appear to be really tight rules and a plan to support it through FLGS's. Hyped! Great video as ever Atom!

I could take a look into the Box yesterday (one of our TT Club Member is a shop owner and we got a Demo Set) and I preordered my Box 3 days ago. All I can say is, this box is fu**cking awesome!!! It's such a big bang for the bucks with all that content, its really great :)
The only 2 things that I could criticize is the quality of the cards and the dice.
But one will use the cards not so much anyway and they can be sleeved, and most people have enough dice yet, too. So, who cares?! ;)
The rest of the box is top notch! Especially the terrain ususally is so expensive, all this stuff makes this box a no brainer :)
Can't wait to get my box at the end of the month, and my Death Watch Kill Team is ready to go and in waiting position :D
