That was absolutely gorgeous - the drawing, the shading. It's rare to see people doing black people in anime style - I wish there were more examples. Love the skin tone, the hair, and the features - you did them nice without making her look like a caricature as most people would. My only suggestion/regret is that you didn't show enough of the blending technique in real time. I know you didn't want the vid to be super long, but it is supposed to be a marker (not an art) demo. Maybe next time do a complete section in real time (like the leaves) showing the blending process and how long you waited, etc etc. Then speed up the rest - it would really help people understand the markers - otherwise it kinda just looks like you're just coloring with standard pens.
Could you do a sort of a tutorial on how to use markers? Like, what basic techniques you use and how to get the colors to blend? That would be really interesting to watch.
I am so glad you got these markers to work for you! I, on the other hand, could not get these markers to work for the life of me. Yes, they did the light to dark thing.. but I found that they were quite streaky sometimes (probably my own error) and you could never really tell when they were going to start getting dark again after being lighter.. I felt like I was doing everything backwards and messed up quite a lot with them. Maybe, with more practice, I could get the hang of them, but I'll just stick to using my copics or sharpies for my art ahah.
Hey Carrah! I remember seeing your review of these over on Instagram. I always think the blending/steakyness has a lot to do with paper - I tried out a few different types before I started really coloring with these markers. I ended up going with my standard, default paper (the Gina K) since I feel that it works for every kind of marker I try. I definitely had to practice with the markers before I got the hang of using them. How I dealt with the timing of light to dark when I started using them was to simply count in my head while I was coloring, if I charged the marker for 10 seconds, then it would take about that same amount of time to start to darken. Eventually after using them for a while (I spent about 2 hours or so coloring this) I had pretty much figured out when the markers would begin to darken again. Just took me some time and practice. I hope you can get them to work for you! :D
Creative Carrah I know this is 7 months old, but I will answer so anyone that buys these markers know. Inside the case, you have 2 papers, one has the instructions. It has a graphic with information about the blending, it tells you the amount of time you have to wait when you use the blender to get a specific blended color (sorry, I don't know how to say this because english isn't my first language, but it technically tells you "1 sec and you have this amount of blend").
That's quite strange! I thought that it would be a bass!e to keep opening the same pen but it seems easy! You took advantage of their ability to blend, far more than any other review I've seen. You brought out the best in these markers and the artwork is beautiful!!
Could you make a video on shading with colors? For example, how you know which color to use for shadows and lighter areas. I struggle sometimes with using the wrong color.
Maybe do the season with the camelon This piece blends with spring 😍I adore it glad they work well. I glad someone was able to review them in their own perspective and I haven't seen many artist do that c: keep up the good work
I love your work. ☺️ I'm Black and my skin tone is very similar to your sketch. Did you intentionally do a Black skin tone? It great when artists do Black people in more than just one skin tone.
These look so cool. I really like the loose, almost impressionistic coloring of this piece! How do they interact with Copics if you use both in the same drawing?
This turned out super pretty. Have you noticed any fading at all after time with yours? I don't know if an issue with my cardstock but even in a closed sketchbook mine seem to fade out after a couple weeks
Hi Kerrie! I love your videos and have been watching them for years now:) I love your style! I was wondering if you could do a video about copic markers for people that want to get started ^^ Thank you for your time, greetings from Spain:))))
can u try STA markers or master markers please btw love your drawing \(ovo)/ also almost forgot to say STA got a couple different type of markers but i dont care which one u use
The last time I used markers that had these capabilities, I was five and they were crayola. All my markers just ended up dirty. 😂 they were fun as a kid, though.
I feel these are a similar idea as Blendy Pens just they are artist quality. I'm seriously confused as to why no one has mentions Blendy Pens because they were a big part of my childhood and I'm just wondering if no one else had them? I used to love them so much as a kid but now that I'm taking art more seriously I prefer the style of Copics with having the individual markers rather than having an unpredictable gradient. I like having the control of the Copic markers, I don't know if anyone else shares that opinion.
Drawing is not about type of markers it's about how good an artist can draw . So, first thing I feel is drawing should be learnt properly and then we should think about markers
The coloring... Is so... Beautiful
Thank you!
I know right

I suppose it would have helped having the color tops, but I did not.. so I was just working with the $99 set I got at Hobby Lobby

Ah!! This really makes me want to experiment and try these out. I’ve always used copics, so it would be interesting to try out another brand!

In my opinion i like the chameleon pens better than comics just because the chameleon pens blend together better than copics
That's so pretty!! ❤
Hi Kerrie! I love your videos and have been watching them for years now:) I love your style! I was wondering if you could do a video about copic markers for people that want to get started ^^ Thank you for your time, greetings from Spain:))))
But u are such a great artist loved ur drawing
Great review THANKS.
Just curious which do you prefer, copic or chameleon?
I've seen / heard really, REALLY horrible things about these markers, so it was interesting to see a good review. I'll keep this in mind.
Woow
This us soooo lovely! Will this be a print?
BUATIFUL Kerrie!!!!
Cool!
What paper did you use for the drawing? Because I've got chameleon pens, too and I can't find the right paper...
canson mixed media is good paper for all different types of art :^)
These to me seem like something an adult coloring book artist would like
What did you use at the very end of the video???
were did you get that picture from off the internet
can u try STA markers or master markers please btw love your drawing \(ovo)/ also almost forgot to say STA got a couple different type of markers but i dont care which one u use
I would buy this drawing so fast it would make your head spin! 😂
The last time I used markers that had these capabilities, I was five and they were crayola. All my markers just ended up dirty. 😂 they were fun as a kid, though.
Yeahh these chameleon pens have a much more higher quality then children's pens :)

Lov Jinxx If I'm not mistaken, they are made by the same company.
Jaggy Babeh Correct they are the same company
