- If you've ever been disappointed about your Great Dane's lack of interest in playing fetch then you may be using too small of a ball! Try changing things up by using a soccer ball or tough ball that's large enough for them to have fun engaging with.
We've been using the Chuckit Kick Fetch Ball (large) for years and as you can see Gus loves it!

Great video we took my Dane to a ball park the other day and man he had a ball (no pun intended lol) ran and ran he looked so happy .he's 7 months old and never seen a dog grow so fast.
can confirm with this ball. My dane loves this one and hasn't managed to chew into pieces like all his others he has had.

Our Dane, Zeus, is obsessed with his jolly ball. My daughter in law trains horses and she recommended the jolly ball. Zeus loves it.
Baby doesn't understand fetch. She wants you to have ball, but she wants it too. She throws the ball at you. She is a great soccer player.

She loves to run and get it but if/when she comes back with it, she wants to play tug with it - fetch + retrieve has not connected (she’s 7 yrs) 🤣

I got my dane a dental ball size XL. They are cheap at th pet store and he loves them!! We have 4 of them and they are still intact!!
Our Great Dane puppy at 4 months old looks at us like we are nuts when we try to toss anything for him to chase down and fetch. Lol! It really works out for us as our other dog is ball obsessed and the Dane prefers tug. He does like it when we roll a larger ball though so this is interesting
My Great Dane LOVED to play fetch-even as a pup! It didn't matter the size of the ball, however as she grew larger, we moved on from tennis balls (became too small for her = choking hazard) and moved up to the larger tough balls such as the one you & Gus are using. Her favorite fetch toys were the frisbee-style 'flying squirrels-at which she became quite adept at snagging in mid-air! Its been my experience that most Great Danes arent that interested in playing fetch (i.e. they'll get the ball but only bring it back when they're in the mood.). We no longer are able to play fetch with our GD due to her heart condition (CHF at 2.5 years old) but she sure had a blast doing it (as did I!)

My girl is scared of EVERYTHING! I got her when she was 8 weeks old, never been hit or abused or mistreated in any way. I've gotten several different sizes of balls from tennis ball to horse balls and nothing, she runs away from them. BTW she is also scared of cups, yogurt cups ice cream cups
Thank you for the tip. She will play with the tennis ball at home but not at the dog park. She is a 4 month old dane. Working on it! lol
