Wow - church heavy rock. Amazing how a single instrument and person can make such an incredible sound. Wish I'd been there to hear - and feel - it first hand.
This is pure 100% Tournemire. Magnificent organ and playing. What a sound. Cavaille-Coll purists will disagree that this organ is his finest since there have been so many changes made that it is hardly distinguishable from the original instument. Still I will not argue that this organ sounds magnificent.
The first Contrebombarde D pointing down the first Chamade D coupled in a fraction second at 5m07s is one of the only reasons for me this organ will always be the greatest of all of them...!
a nice fondness--i tend to notice details about several favorites, not all as relate to strong capabilities, but also as relate to quieter pipes, wiyh wonderful clefts sometimes. certainly this instrument is a mainstay.
This is the best I have heard the organ of Notre Dame de Paris sound since before the 1990 bastardization uh i mean restoration. Bravo to your brilliant performance.
@sediavindivoh Charles Tournemire was a great improviser but this piece is a written down as a part of the large organ cycle L’Orgue Mystique (No. 51).
@jeanseborg Vierne did use this organ. In fact he died on the console. He was a titulaire. Are you talking about an organ in his personal possession? (this is notre Dame in the Video.

For me this is the No1 performance of this "piece" on YT. I just sadly read that Mr Metzler died in 2017.... RIP! :(
Is this the same Jim Metzler who was organist at Trinity Episcopal in Toledo, Ohio? I remember hearing him play this at Trinity.
This is a stunning performance. Bravo!
Grandioze mystiek van de vaak onbegrepen en ook ondergewaardeerde Charles Tournemire.
Jim Metzler speelt op uitmuntende wijze dit prachtige werk!
Fantastic!
More, Please!!!!
Fantastic !! At Notre-Dame this incredible piece does more than rock of course !!

I think has got to be one of my all time favourites!!!
What a wonderfully chaotic piece of organ music! Delightful find... Makes me wish I had a better sound system...
The organ is that of Notre Dame? Magnificent instrument in any case!!!
This is absolutely stunning. Bravo and thank you!

Beautiful
What an incredible sound. I love it. Thank you very much.
Best recording EVER!
5:49 Wow! 😊😳😍🥰😅
How much I miss playing
That opening fanfare is just............
Great! Thanks!
It sounds almost like Vierne's organ! :D Nice registration choice of the organist!
Who is this fantástic organist? He or she gives me goosepimples.....WOW......
Powerful
Bravissimo!!

@Jeanseborg Oh, I see. You meant the eras of the Organ itself.
It would have been great for the awakening of N D of Paris awakening!
"A.M.D.G." ("Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam")!
I have a question. Was this song improvised at some point? It says Improvisation in the title. :D
The whole thing.
Ive always thought it strange that Tournemire ended this piece in a different key from the one he started one. Seems like a strange choice.
