    This video has convinced me to try doing cold brew and I've just ordered my Hario bottle with supply of ground coffee! :D

    How should I wash it? How do I was the filter afterwards? Bought it recently and it’s great

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 роки тому +4

      The Glass, wash carefully with some soak and hot water, rinse and dry. The Filter, soak in hot water for 5mins and a gentle scrub with a bristle brush will keep it clean - but won't avoid staining. . this will happen over time.

    So after the brewing time (8-24 hours), you still keep the coffee in the bottle or you remove them?

    Thanks for the video. How is this one different from a Mizudashi and which one is better?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 роки тому +4

      They're basically the the same - however this one has the rubber pourer lid - as opposed to a plastic flat lid on the Mizudashi. The Mizudashi fits better in the fridge 👍

    • @AlternativeBrewing

      The Mizudashi 👌 It's a little easier with less parts. Filters and bottles are the same 😀

    Which one is better? Hario bottle or pot?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 роки тому

      Hmmm, they're very very close in comparison - but the Hario Cold Brew Pot is a little easier to use 👌

    Hey how long can you leave your grounds just sitting in the coffee in the fridge? Will it go gross if left for a week?

    At what temperature should water be before putting it into the fridge? Should it be hot water for the coffee to bloom or cold temperature water still works because its cold brew?

    • @kerumiller7322

      I believe cold water is what's usually used for coldbrew. Don't know if hot water will make it too strong since it's equivalent to make a regular coffee then leave the powder in side overnight.

    Can one use this for loose-leafe tea as well? I like having the option of removing the filter after a while (e.g. with green tea). the hario filter-in bottle does not give me the option since the tea leaves are directly added in the bottle with the water

    Can you use the same coffee grinds to make multiple batches ?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  3 роки тому +2

      No, that's not recommended... as when you brew the coffee you remove the soluble components from the beans in to the water... the more you continue brewing the less and less soluble material is available - especially when brewing with cold water... you could remove the grinds and boil then on the stove and try that though 👌

      We also consider aesthetics and price play a huge role in purchasing a new brewer - so something like th e Hario Cold Brew in a Bottle - I would say is slightly more of an appealing Brewer, than say compared to the Hario Cold Brew Pot - although they are 99% the same thing.

    Why do you need a heatproof glass for a coldbrew maker?

    • @orbispictus6127
      @orbispictus6127 4 роки тому +2

      imagine using the coldbrew bottle in tropical countries or even during the hottest days in temperate zone. I guess thermal shock is an important thing.

    • @orbispictus6127
      @orbispictus6127 4 роки тому +2

      and even if we don't mention climate features, thermal shock is still an actual issue because of the difference between room temperature and refrigerator temperature.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  4 роки тому +4

      True story. Standard Glass coming in and out of the fridge, can over time and extended use becomes weak and eventually leads to Thermal Shock and breaking easily. Heat treated glass is not effected by this.

      Give the grinds a little stir once you have added all the water in to ensure they are all wet evenly through before placing it in the fridge 👍

    This isn’t technically “concentrate” though, is it? As it’s already diluted with water, and ready to drink straight from the Hario bottle?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  2 роки тому

      True. Though it is fairly concentrated. Not a DRIP style coffee, but perhaps not as concentrated as a TODDY cold brew. Somewhere in between

      It also makes dishwasher safe (in hot water) including all the parts, which is so convenient to clean.
