love that y'all read the comments and came back with more suggestions
Is there a "capsule kitchen" cookbook? I was just thinking the capsule kitchen items plus a cookbook (where all you need for the recipes are the capsule items) would make such a fun and practical gift for grown kids starting their own homes.
The is another practical video by Lisa. I needed the info since we recently bought an Airstream. Our home kitchen is large and we have collected at ton of kitchen tools. This and the previous video about a capsule kitchen is helping us narrow down what to take on our new adventures. Lisa is such a professional. I always appreciate her videos. 😀
I love my Nordic Ware sheet pan it is US made, cost less than $2 than the Chinese made and came with a cooling rack at Target!
I am disappointed that Lisa didn't actually use that absurdly massive mug
Such useful suggestions! Thank you!
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the cast iron info! We've started using cast iron in our camp kitchen, it's great once you know how to use it 😅
That was really good!
Thank you Lisaa!!!
Perhaps a follow-up video 'capsule plus' to cover the next 6 (or 12) items to buy would be useful.
Yeah, an accessories version so to speak, lol.
Before the holidays I got the Lodge 5 piece set for $50. Not ideal for Dutch oven but $10 cast iron.
I think the people that were commenting cookie sheet meant what you call a sheet pan. We always grew up calling sheet pans cookie sheets.
Yes. There is a difference between a cookie sheet and a sheet pan, but I never knew the difference until I worked at Williams-Sonoma 😎
Lisa, loved the juxtaposition of what you said ("enjoyable debates") with the gesture (clenched fists headed for a beating).
Lisa is a national treasure.
Nice update, thanks. There has got to be an alternative to the $400 Dutch Oven. How about the Lodge Ceramic Coated Cast Iron Dutch Oven for $80 on Amazon? For a $300+ savings, one could buy some more essentials.
Could y'all do an episode on essentials or recommended equipment for the kitchen after buying a house for the first time?
@@sandrah7512 nope
Buying a house expands the amount of space you have to store things but it doesn't necessarily expand the your existing cooking process or skills. Start with what you already use and then add one tool or skill at a time will help you avoid buying things just to fill your new kitchen. You could get an ATK book about a cuisine or process (seasonal veggies and instant pot/air fryer are good places to consider starting) that you are interested in and use that as a starting point to deep dive and see if you are interested in investing time, money, and storage into the bits and pieces or whether you'd rather move on to a different topic and still have your time, money, and storage available.
CAST IRON =
By far the best skillet EVER! 😊 👍
What’s a capsule kitchen?. Thanks for sharing
I would like to befriend McManus !!!
This is a little out of left field, but does America’s Test Kitchen have a sister company that reviews home products? Like vacuums, couches, curtains. I’m a fan of the gear reviews here and I want similar reviews for the products I could use in the rest of my house.
Consumer Reports is good for those items. ATK has some cleaning tool reviews. But mostly focused on cooking related tools.
It would be nice to have more specific titles. What is a capsule kitchen? Ok. I’d like to know about pots and Dutch ovens. Can’t watch them all.
Did you mean 3.25 in for the paring knife? I don’t se a 3.5 in on Amazon
I’m surprise he would recommend those sheet pans that are aluminum. Aluminum is so unhealthy to cook on. But thanks for sharing
My maiden name is Mcmanus 😀
And that is relevant how?
I've met lots of Mcmanus's
No spatula is worth $65. I can put the same bend on the $20 unit the overpriced one has in a few seconds for $0.
Or you could just not buy a fish Spatula at all and instead just use any fork you have and it turns out you'll be fine.
EVERY utensil I've ever used to flip fish over, NEVER works. Never.
(Especially a fork) 👎🏻
The OXO Good Grips Nylon Flexible Turner works great on fish and it's only 10 bucks. It's not as long but using it's handle as an extension on longer fish it works ok.
They are not recommending just for fish. It is a good all around spatula. Good luck flipping pancakes with a fork. 😎
Sheet pans? Man my interest was piqued when I thought she was saying "Sheep hands"
Check out these picky cooks who care about that stuff. Never been poor.
Guess the news about ATK unionizing escaped you.
I am poor and I care about the stuff in my kitchen. I want to buy it once and hope it lasts. Since I don’t have money for restaurants I need the correct tools for multiple meals a day.
I love Lisa and how she explains and presents. I can’t stand Hannah ☹️
What's the point of that second sentence other than to reveal yourself to be some random schmuck with an "opinion"?
I get where you are coming from and agree, but I may be hurting Hannah’s feelings. I do not want to do that…I am sure she is a nice person. But Lisa is fantastic.
My god they are always just repackaging the same OLD stuff over and over again.
I disagree.
@@mddell58 I don't care.
Answering YT comments is now "repackaging"? Ok... 😎
@@TitoTimTravels I subscribed to your channel so I can troll you too.
Oh for heavens sake, their info is short, pithy, and interesting. Most of the hosts are fun, but are not about themselves but the food. If this show isn’t up to your standards, move on.
