    I brought The Bounty Hunter pro Land Rover. On our land was a trail people used to travel in the 1800s. I didn't find to much yet because it's pretty long and winter months are here. I did find a penny with Indian on it from 1899.

    What comes in the box? Is it just the detector or is there a pin-pointer etc...
    And also, what metals does it detect and not detect? Thanks.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  6 років тому +3

      Just the detector...unless a dealer adds on. It will detect every type of metal that conducts electricity. Iron...aluminum...gold..silver..etc

    Don't laugh too hard...my husband bought mine at a pawn shop for less than $100. Haven't had the opportunity to try it out yet, but once the weather warms a tad, I'm going hunting for the fun of it. I enjoy learning new things

    I got this and I wanna know how deep can this metal detector reach like the depth?

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  9 років тому +4

      +pochy garcia It will hit a dime at 3-4 inches in rough Colorado dirt...and a quarter at 5-6. Larger coins like half dollars and dollars...7-8 inches.
      Something like a frying pan will hit at like 2 feet....

    I bought the same machine for $199 from Bass pro. Love that store. im confused about the depth. I live down the shore and I need more depth. Not quite sure how to get the depth deeper. Please help. Thx

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  9 років тому +5

      +Carolyn Foley Hi Carolyn..glad to help.
      When you first tun on the machine you will see "DEPTH" and "SENS" on the display. The "DEPTH" is how deep an object is underground and cannot be adjusted. 1 arrow = Close to surface. 2 arrows = 2 - 6 inches. 3 arrows = 6-8 inches. Those are just rough estimates and NOT exact.
      The "SENS" setting = Sensitivity. This is how you make the Lone Star Pro go deeper. Press the "SENS" button to cycle through the 6 bars. 1 bar = Low Sensitivity and lower search depth. 6 bars = High Sensitivity and deeper search depth.
      Keep in mind the the max depth on this machine is going to be roughly 8 inches on a quarter sized object. In high mineral sand or soil...6-7 inches is more like it. On larger objects like aluminum cans or relics it will go much further - like 2 feet.
      To ensure you are getting max depth....make sure the "SENS" setting is maxed out with all 6 bars showing.
      Also note that running DISC and NOTCH will reduce depth very slightly.
      I know that 8 inches does not sound very deep, but keep in mind 80% of ALL MD finds are in the 1-8 inch range. If you want to go deeper on coins sized objects into the 10-14 inch range you need to spend close to $1000.
      Hope this helps. :)

    Any reason why mine will just beep like crazy when im in my room testing it with coins on the floor? It will beep no matter where I put it, almost like my room was made of metal! Works fine outside!

      +SEPI AUSTIN EMI is the most likely cause. Any electronics and even the power lines inside the house will cause many detectors to go nuts.

    I've been using the BH Discovery 2200 since Christmas last year,(first detector). I'm bout to be gifted this model your reviewing. Do you know which is "considered" the higher of two models? Just wondering, been more than happy with my starter machine ands wioll most certainly put the new one through the ringers...Thanks!

      The Lone Star Pro is part of the newer 13-bit Frat Bros process and is a much better detector. It will finds coins in good soil at 6-8 inches and allows for multiple notches of the categories...something many pricier detectors do not offer.

  • @darkencypher

    Do you think this would would be a good beginner metal detector for my wife? She's always mentioned that she wanted to get into this hobby. This model is currently on sale at our local sporting good store for $139. She'd be primarily using it at parks and the beach.
    If so, anything else you recommend I purchase? Like a pointer?
    Thank you for the review!

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  7 років тому +2

      It is a great beginners machine...especially for that price. It is $165 now on amazon and that is as cheap as I have ever seen it.
      I do recommend a pointer if you can afford it. A decent one is going to run close to $100 however...something to note.

    • @darkencypher
      @darkencypher 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for responding, Hunter. I appreciate the advice. One thing I was worried about was how these kinds of budget metal detectors hold up at beach environments. Though we only visit the beach a few times a year, I j want to make sure that a few hours contact with salty air and sand isn't going to damage it (with responsible use, of course).
      Have you ever tested any of the $20 pointers on eBay? I don't mind buying a name brand, higher quality one, but I want to see if my wife actually enjoys the hobby first. Watching your videos, I get the sense that a pointer is huge boon to the effort, so I definitely want to give her that.
      I suspect that deep down her interest in metal detectors has to do with the fact thatI lost my wedding ring in the ocean on our honey moon. But watching your videos has got me wanting to get out and try it myself.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  7 років тому +3

      It will hold up and long as you wipe it down after each use. Don;t let it get splashed or sprayed much if possible. Coil can go into water...control box cannot.
      I have used one of the Bounty Hunter pointers...they work if you do not have anything else. You will want to upgrade eventually. They should hopefully be releasing a new one this summer.

    Hey Guys... I watch a lot of your stuff with the Lone Star Pro and wanted to say thanks. I just started this hobby yesterday ( July 4th 2018) and I haven't found a whole lot other then some coins. I'm wondering if you think a bigger detector coil would be a good idea and also where on the coil "EXACTLY" does it detect the object ? Is it directly in the center of the coil . I'm asking because I bought one of those bounty hunter pin-pointers and it's not very good but it'll have to do for the time being.
    I'm also wondering ( I'm in British Columbia Canada ) if this detector is set to detect USD coins and not Canadian coins hahahaha cause I can't get it to decipher between Canadian dime or quarter.
    Thanks in advance look forward to more of your vids.

    • @thehuntergt
      @thehuntergt  6 років тому +1

      Sorry so late on this reply. Yes this one is setup for US coins. It will detect something the whole coil length. The outter ring and the smaller center ring. There are 2X loops that will detect. On very shallow coins you may actually get a double beep. Try to a X pattern to narrow down where each target is. Use the heel or toe of the coil to judge the spot where the signal fades. Then rotate 90 degrees and do it again. Should give you a decent spot to dig. Thanks for watching and best of luck! Always here to help!

    • @tmart9084
      @tmart9084 6 років тому +2

      oh excellent idea thank you. I have a pin pointer but it's just one of those cheap-o ones that have to actually touch the object before they sound off hahhha so I will be buying a much better one over the next day or so. I got a hold of American coinage and YUP your right Canadian coins "SUCK" lol... Much rather find USD that's for sure so maybe it's time to walk over the invisible border line to the nearest sandy beaches.
      Cheers from the Great White North.,

    • @thehuntergt

      Best thing is to catch them outside...without stalking them. Doorknocking is less successful than catching them outside mowing or watering the lawn. Tell them you are a history buff and there could be history right there in their yard. That usually gets them interested at least. Be polite...promise to leave the yard in great condition...etc. There are some good videos about it on YT and write-up in forums. Best advice...take the first no and don't push it. If they are just not feeling it...just say thanks and move on. Good luck for sure!

      I saw a combo which included a carrying bag for the detector and the headphones for a slightly cheaper price. Boy I really should have done my homework. Found a great deal however, on the Amazon link you provided. It's a handheld detector with a small collapsible shovel and utility belt. Pretty cool. Now I'm ready.
