Just to give clarity to where stations are so it makes life easier for anyone travelling via public transport. Heathrow Terminal 2, picadilly line is much closer to Terminal 2 than Elizabeth Line. Elizabeth Line is around 3 minutes further. Heathrow Terminal 3, Elizabeth Line is much closer to Terminal 3 and 3 mins further from Picadilly line. Terminal 4 and 5 have their own stations so are directly inside the terminals and have direct access to Arrivals and check in areas. Accessibility. Heathrow 2 and 3 Station on Picadilly line is wheelchair accessible but you need to be at certain areas of the platform to board a train due to the station being open in 1977. They do have lifts (elevators). Terminal 4 and T5b is more up to date and is accessible for wheelchairs. All Heathrow express/Elizabeth Line stations at Heathrow are fully accessible for wheelchairs.
Nice video. Very helpful for a first-time visitor to London. I've always taken the Paddington Express, even though it is more expensive my total holiday cost is upwards of $10k as I'm coming from Australia & it's almost $6k just for flights. 25 pounds is a very minor cost in comparison & it's never as crowded as the tube. It also has free wifi which is great for when you arrive & want to message everybody on the other side of the world that you made it OK. I do a Taxi from Paddington only because I'm 70 & am over trying to lug bags up & down stairs.
It doesn't help me yet but if I can get my health under control, it'll help me next spring! Thanks for doing this video. The stairs make a big difference for me and I'd have had no idea. The pain level would be the difference between two-ish hours to recover to possibly an entire day to recover.
Excellent video. The newer stations have escalators and elevators and some older stations are being renovated to be more accessible. Those who travel light have an advantage. Wish I was one of those people. 😂
Thank you for this video. I am traveling to London this week and was questioning on how the train lines work now since it’s been over 15years since I have been there. One of the best videos on how to get to and from Heathrow. 😊❤
This is so true!!! I didn't realize I'd have to take my bags up and down stairs! I wrongly assumed there would be elevators. He's right, I would've been better off taking the tube directly to my stop even though it would've taken longer.
The Heathrow Express shouldn't be totally discounted. When I arrive, I will take the Elizabeth Line into London, which works if your hotel is near there. Which works for me sometimes since I am only staying a couple of days before moving on. Going back to Heathrow, the Heathrow Express works if you have an early flight ( be careful, The Elizabeth Line's early trains at Paddington leave from a different platform than the later ones ) since they take only 15 or so minutes, PLUS if you book EARLY online the Heathrow Express is less expensive. 15 pounds instead of 25. Anyway, safe travels everyone. London is a fantastic city! Not taking a taxi is great advice, unless you have endless amount of time and money.
We have taken the Heathrow Express in the past to Paddington Station. But, on our last trip last October we took the new Elizabeth line instead. It was super easy to use, and costs less money. And it didn’t take much longer than the pricier Heathrow Express.
Very helpful video! We took the Heathrow express last year. One benefit though is if u have large bags (for a long cruise) the Express is easier. The regular tube trains are too crowded with large bags and there’s absolutely no way I could have carried those up those stairs. We also traveled with our parents and had to help them with their bags. The contactless payment is awesome! We still had to deal with tickets last year. That makes everything so much easier!!!! What awesome news.
Thanks Morgan. I was not sure if the Elizabeth Line had begun service west past Paddington. But obviously it has. We always used the Heathrow Express and just hopped on the Circle Line tube at Paddington as that took us to our hotel. We also occasionally used the Piccadilly line too. Not sure how close the Elizabeth line will get us to our hotel and will check that out for our next trip to London. Thanks again for all your great videos!
I've been to London many times for work so never had to endure travelling to the city center (until tomorrow as a tourist). This video is excellent as the trains are confusing from a non UK person point of view. But what was really smart about this video which I struggled with was where to buy tickets. Using my bank card is an EPIC tip and no-one or not one website mentioned it. Cudos. Plus not taking the Express, another great tip. Liked and subscribed.
The train system in the UK is really good. I travelled from Seaford to Bank Quay - across the country- and, yes, I had to swap trains but it was much easier than my trip from Heathrow to Manchester via a bus. The bus I was supposed to be on was fully booked so I had to catch a different one and swap in the middle of who-knows-where for a 2 hour wait in the middle of the night. I was terrified and the stewardess on the bus told me to get off at the bus depot because that’s where my next bus would start from. There was a waiting room and it was ok. Unfortunately I hadn’t been able to contact my aunt to tell her of the changes. I cried all night and was half an hour late into Manchester airport. I couldn’t see my aunt so I went to the information desk and asked. As soon as the lady heard my accent and the word aunt, she pointed to a bank of phone booths. My aunt was just about ringing my folks in Australia to tell them she’d lost me. If I had to repeat that trip again, I’d either fly or take the train…and we have mobile phones now too.
Very helpful and yeah, i always felt safe taking the tube. Although sometiemsnitncan get crowded and if you have issues with claustrophobia then you would habe to consider that
arriving to LHR via SIN from ALK in 12 days. Plan to take Piccadilly to Earls Court then District to Edgeware Road. Decided to see a bit of London even though a little longer in time cheaper than Elizabeth to Paddington. and way far cheaper than Express.
As a Londoner , I found this very helpful, my problem is always Crossrail , an overground service that is awful, so if anyone has useful ways to get across London without changing.
All 3 rail lines can be disrupted due to points failures, signal failures, engineering work, strikes and overhead lune failures, so allow lots of time and check if the line is running. The Heathrow Express can be good during peak times for avouding crouds.
Great suggestions and breakdown for new visitors like myself! Any suggestions on what to visit for a short amount of time with elderly parents? We are arriving and staying in terminal 5, the day before cruise. Trying to just plan a simple nonstop route (not switching to different lines) to do some sightseeing.
Very helpful morgan now that you can use your cards not fuss with tickets 😜 Hope your having a Great time Back home ready for 4 th July celebration . Have a Good weekend 🥰
We were at Heathrow for an overnight connection on a weekend in March. We took the Picdilly (the non-Elizabeth one) to our hotel. Didn't know if it was a promotion but if we used tap to pay it was no charge. Was wondering if that was a limited time thing or because it was only one stop. And yes checked all 3 cards and no charges.
We stayed in a hotel near Paddington station in may. Heathrow Express is really overpriced. It only saves you 15 minutes of time compared to Elizabeth line. I prefer saving 18 Pounds 😅.
I just wanted to let you know from someone who really doesn’t use public transportation much at all, it still seemed pretty confusing to me. You titled the video Super easy not sure about that. It did help me some though, understand the color system, the different lines and if I could do it if I had any type of health issues or handicap.
I'd imagine it was like being shown multiplication when you have never done addition. Super simple for a person who has used public transportation in any city. Maybe try a public transportation trip in a city where you're comfortable then watch the video again.
Just one person? surely not. If so, Elizabeth line is larger trains and all stations have elevators/lifts so much easier. Then change to Bakerloo line at Paddington Station to get down to elephant and castle.
Public transport to and from Heathrow is ok, if you just have a cabin bag, and you are travelling in the middle of the day, by yourself. Otherwise a cab is best.
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Upon further research, the Tottenham Station is really close to our hotel. We can catch the Elizabeth line to Heathrow there, yes? And when we fly into Heathrow, we can take Elizabeth Line to Tottenham Station?
Going off on a tangent (as I often do) let me share a piece of information that I only recently learned regarding the famous statue in Piccadilly Circus. The statue is not that of Eros the god of erotic love as it is almost always called, it's actually a statue of his sibling Anteros, the god of selfless love. In my opinion, arranging to meet at the statue of Anteros just doesn't have the same ring to it so I shall continue to call him Eros.
no, only the Piccadilly takes you to kings cross on one train. If you were to go on the Elizabeth line you would have to go to Paddington, then change to the circle line train to get to kings cross.
Piccadilly line to Kings cross, then northern line one stop to angel. Or Elizabeth line to Liverpool street then change to northern line, two stops to angel.
True! True. I just get "something" from the feeling of actually touching it to the terminal. It's like if I press HARDER , it goes faster. Know what I mean? lol

Thanks for the information. First time visitor in August. 😊
If your travelling around London on your stay always use the same card/phone to pay for all tube and bus travel. This will get you the minimum price.
Great tip!

I live in London and thought this was an excellent 'how to' guide and very accurate about how to use the options available
Omg! Best most detailed video of the train system! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
yes thank you i now see i can take the Elizabeth line to bond and then Central to Notting Hill where my hotel will thank you Terry
The Elizabeth line is about twice as fast(and much nicer) than the Piccadilly Line
But 3 times the price

I’ll visit London next year and will have to pick my transport from airport. That’s good info about the stairs since I tend to pack a lot.
I'm planning a trip to London and I didn't even think of taking the subway. Thanks so much for the info. And you crack me up by the way. 😂

this is so so funny to watch as someone who used to live in London and am flying in again tomorrow. i love the tube, its so simple
We went with Elizabeth line. Oyster Cards were 5 years old but still valid. We visited Abba Voyage and Back to the future and it was great!
Ladt time in London we trieg Circolo Populare (what a lemon pie!!) and Hans&Gretel (icecream wiht cotton candy). Delicious😊

Thanks! I have been through Heathrow several times but only once did I go into London. It was by car and took forever. This was very helpful.
Thank you very much. Your advice will make our upcoming visit much easier.

The Elizabeth Line is mostly underground through central London and is the fastest way from Central London (or East London/Canary Warf) to Heathrow
This is a very good and helpful video guide for visitors to London.
Yes, take the Piccadilly Line.
I'm planning a trip to London, and had no idea. The hotel I'm planning is more or less at Piccadilly Circus, so that is way too easy. Very cool.
Oh ya, super easy... as long as you are fine with those stairs.
All 3 rail lines can be disrupted due to points failures, signal failures, engineering work, strikes and overhead lune failures,

Very informative. My question is how to buy a ticket from the machine?
Thank you Captain Morgan, this is great information for my trip to London☺
Thanks for this, Morgan. Elizabeth Line may be the way to go for our trip next year. 🙂
great job and video Morgan you couldn't have explained this process any better... great info 😊😊
Really clear informative video of the advantages of public transport in London. Very nicely done Morgan :)
Greatest tutorial!! Thank you!
Idea: Part 2... getting to the South Hampton Cruise Terminal.... also Super Easy

there is a free travel zone near Heathrow to allow people to change terminals for free
Thank you, that makes sense apparently that first stop away from the airport is in the zone.@@nathan_scofield_ynwa
Good show , and I’m British

How long is the walk from the Elizabeth Line to Terminal 2?
Hi, my flight is scheduled to arrive Heathrow 16:45 on a Tuesday, how can I navigate to Thornaby, Middlesbrough? First time in UK though

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Upon further research, the Tottenham Station is really close to our hotel. We can catch the Elizabeth line to Heathrow there, yes? And when we fly into Heathrow, we can take Elizabeth Line to Tottenham Station?
Do you have to take a different train for terminal 4 since it splits after terminal 2&3?
No , most underground services stop at 1-2 then 3 then 4 and on to 5 as the end of the line and vice versa.
You just have to check the Elizabeth line train is stoppih at terminal 4... I don't think all trains stop at terminal 4
Hamurger Sparkasse.... Hoffentlich funktioniert sie, denn die Sparkassenkarten funktionieren manchmal nicht.. :-) Tolles Video! Danke
Wenn die Karte selbst nicht funktioniert, probiere es mit dem Handy!

Can I use elizabeth line to travel from terminal 2 to King’s Cross station? I thought only the Picadailly line was available for that journey
no, only the Piccadilly takes you to kings cross on one train. If you were to go on the Elizabeth line you would have to go to Paddington, then change to the circle line train to get to kings cross.
Wait! I can scan any one of my US credit cards when I enter & exit? I don’t need to buy a one time pass or oyster card?
If you can use your card to tap and pay in the US, it should work here, too. Have a great visit!
When travelling to London Stansted by train you must buy a ticket. Do not use contactless or Oyster or else you will get a big fine. By a ticket.
Any suggestions on the best way to get from Heathrow airport to St Pancras to take the Eurostar to Paris ?
The Picadilly line runs all the way from Heathrow to St. Pancras. It will probably take about an hour, but you won't have to transfer. Have fun!
or get the Elizabeth line to Faringdon and then get a Thames Link train to St Pancras/Kings Cross
Does anyone know how to arrive at Angel Station from Heathrow Airport with the tube?
Piccadilly line to Kings cross, then northern line one stop to angel. Or Elizabeth line to Liverpool street then change to northern line, two stops to angel.
Thanks Morgan. Can we do it all with our Visa card or do we need to buy the Oyster card I have read about?
You can just swipe your contactless payment card.
Did your subs just jump about 5 to 7000? Could’ve swore earlier this week you weren’t over 60,000.
I will never ever understand that underground metro..cuz where I live I don't have understand or train station
Is the tube open 24-7?
Nope!
Some lines are open late at night during the weekend - check the Transport For London (TFL) wesbite for the latest news
Range Rover and Brovecto adds.
Dude, it triggers me that you bend your credit card when holding it to the contactless payment terminal. It's called contactless for a reason 😅
True! True. I just get "something" from the feeling of actually touching it to the terminal. It's like if I press HARDER , it goes faster. Know what I mean? lol
Elizabeth line trains are much faster to Heathrow than the Piccadilly line.
And much newer!
Also please do not put luggage in the wheelchair spaces!
Don't use the TUBE if you have anything more than a backpack.
Lot's of stairs and very crowded! NOT GOOD!
the Heathrow express is criminal
😉 Promo`SM
It’s transport not transportation btw - no one in the uk would know what you are on about saying transportation
Hello, is piccadily line cheaper then others . I need to go from hearhrow t4 into london central , thanks for your video
The Picadilly line from Heathrow into the city costs five Pounds Sixty during peak times, which is the least expensive option, I think.
Very helpful video! Thanks!
