About the sticks: It`s like how to train a Lion in a Circus. They got beaten up with those sticks from the beginning, when they were puppies. So the sticks get manifested in their minds as painfull, so they will fear the sticks even when grown up. Sorry for bad English

She’s a witch therapist. That’s how she has insight.
And Daemon needs to stay right where he is and have every dark side of him freak him the fuck out so he’ll do better by his wife. He thinks he’s on her side, but he has too many issues to do it properly. That’s why he’s going through this. He would never consciously figure it out himself. Too much hubris, too little self-reflection or awareness.
The witch is fixing and helping him.
Allyn doesn’t want to die at war for a father who doesn’t care about him (which is why I suspect he will). Addam is not a sailor/soldier. Now Addam has his own value: he’s meant to ride, not sail.

We'll get more of Daemon being a badass soon. At this point in the book, he wasn't doing much. Like, there isn't much written other than him being at Harrenhall and trying to raise an army. So it was either a season of character development or almost no Daemon in a majority of the season. I'd personally rather get the weirwood dreams. Most of those were cut out of Game of Thrones. I like getting more of the mystical stuff, I love his character development this season, and I can't get enough of Alys Rivers.
Agreed. Rivers is so wild. I love that her intentions are so unclear. Really ads to the suspense of Daemons wild situation.

Aemond trying to say Larys devotion to his family is in doubt because of what he did to his brother and father when him betraying his family is the reason Otto became hand again plus Larys became the Lord of Harrenhall and inherited all the riches while Aemond tried to kill Aegon and couldn't finish the job and only gained a temporary position. I'm glad Alyss broke Daemon down because he needed to understand that he can't do this without Rhaenyra just like she needs to understand she can't win without him. The white worm's idea of sending the food was the chess move that Rhaenyra needed because she lost the people when the little boy got his head cutt off. Seasmoke was the mvp of the episode.
