True. When I got my Model 3 my dad was sceptical but when we switched out my wife's RAV4 with a Model Y he acted like it was a terrible idea not having a gas car. EVs saved me over $5k in fuel last year.
I think an add campaign focused on correcting all the FUD will be good, one commercial per point. Main points would be: 1. Charging times 2. Battery replacement/ reliability 3. EV fires 4. EV cost of ownership 5. EV carbon footprint 6. EV Price/ Incentives
Tesla Trivia - My wife just pulled up to a 4-way stop in her Model 3. The cars coming from the other three directions were all Teslas!! And this was in Sioux Falls, SD!! Four Teslas meeting at an intersection in South Dakota!! They’re everywhere!! 😎👍💕

I fell same as in 2008 when I bought an iPhone and random people would comment without asking them that this iPhone is stupid and that they will never switch from blackberry or nokia phone with physical keyboard... 😂
Well just some facts; ICE cars 21% energy efficient stupidly burning oil in by far too complexe system outdated since 100 years but best we had until EV came with 68% energy efficiency in Europe, but with own energy it’s even more. Energy autonomy must be a goal for as many as possible therefore and mostly HOME and DESTINATION charging in 10 seconds and having a climatized car in the morning or a backup battery for homes. In Europe the liar and betrayal automotive after 40 years of sabotage low carbon solutions now ask for the next SCAM after slave oil system with e-fuels and H2 with just 12% energy efficiency. Think there is no need speaking about environmental issues as already the cost side is convincing. Since 2008 with our first full EV in the fleet till now with full BEV we annually save a high 30% in TCO over former mostly German premium. They ripped us off all the years so now they hate the facts TESLA was creating. But the better is always the enemy of the good and ICE time is over😅

The reason that solar panels are so costly in Alabama and any where else in the United States is PURE GREED I live in Southern Calif. and our water and power company threw the most stops on us getting solar panels installed including 4-5 months after the panels were all installed before they put in the NEW box to connect with there system and yes it was there BOX. They then charged us monthly fees to transfer the solar panel power to their grid and then applied my solar power to reduce my power bill but they also gave me less credit for the power that came from the solar panels. NO POWER COMPANY IN THE US WANTS YOU TO HAVE SOLAR PANELS. Give some one a monoply and find out how fast they become GREEDY.

Got my gf to test drive a model y. She didn't know anything about them and was considering a Volvo xc60. She was blown away and amazed the tesla was cheaper. Only concern left is the ground clearance, considering a lift kit. So many people don't know about teslas
I get to buy my Tesla model Y long range for 35,490 after the 7500 dollars Federal credit and WA State 5000 dollars credit. WA State also exempts the first 20,000 dollars sales tax.😊 This all starts August 1 2024.

FYI, I would not recommend going to the 55 supercharger station (Kettleman City) in the summer. Unless you like being out in the desert heat!! It doesn't have the canopies like the original supercharger in the video. I have been to both multiple times. Also, it is at highway 41 but most people will be coming from Interstate 5. It's right at both freeways.
Interested to hear the ideas you guys have for different Solar options and how people in the US can get around those solar fees. If he got a powerwall 3 and consumed the power more than feeding back to the grid in the middle of the day that might make the ongoing fees lower? Australia is starting to charge people to export solar to the grid when there is too much solar in the middle of the day.

I’ve been ridesharing my 7 year old Model S for the last 3 months in a city where Teslas are relatively rare. Every rider who starts a conversation is about my car, so needless to say I spend a lot of time dispelling the average FUD. Every conversation has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
Didn’t think I was ever going to afford a Tesla. More affordable all the time. And be able to actually get one before the steering wheels are completely removed 😅 love experiencing FSD 🤩 better each update.

@@rogerstarkey5390 Actually the steering wheel in personal vehicles will always be needed. I love FSD but I can come up with a thousand scenarios why you would need them. Here are some. Lets say your looking for a lost pet/ child you need to drive the neighborhood or more remote areas FSD cannot do that. You are driving along and see someone in distress and need to stop, you are at a concert/fair etc. and makeshift temp parking in a field. You need to rearrange vehicles in your driveway or just adjust them, Since FSD will not run someone over and it will avoid cones you encounter cones or people in your path the vehicle will stop and its an obvious trap to rob/highjack. Of course the steering wheel could be collapsible normally out of the way and deployed as temp device but it will still be there. Just my thoughts.

@10:02 this is the damage that the Leaf and LG Chem batteries did to the whole ev market....SMH This is where some fact driven Tesla adverts about the new battery chemistry and the warranty provided could go a long way. Also @34:08 Mark in Alabama needs watch Will Prowse' stuff and SS has 12kw for $4500 and inexpensive All in One Inverters like the 6000xp for $1300 that seems like they would suit your needs. Batteries for overnight still kinda pricey at 15kw for $3500. Total would be $9300 plus racking and permit if needed in your area.
I think Tesla needs to spend their advertising money on putting marquee signs up at all of their charging stations so the general public knows how many charging stations are out there and Tesla owners can find the charging station in the shopping mall or supermarket easier.

But... when you get a power plan for EV or Solar, the MONOPOLY (A Southern Company) who owns all power creation likes to price gouge. Most if the coops must but their power from this company in Mississippi (MS Power), Alabama (AL Power), Georgia (GA Power), plus gas, nuclear, etc.
A referral program is better than advertising. That way Tesla owners would likely to be more pro active in explaining the benefits of owning an electric car.

Dont be naive. For example. Check out Tongwei Solar. Largest in China. State of the art almost fully automated factories. Fully ESG compliant. . And.... China requires manufacturers to take responsibilty for end of life recycling of their own products. (Like France/ EU) . Plus, there's a plan of a nationwide solar recycling system commencing in 2025, to be fully operational by 2030. (In case you haven't noticed, China follows through and actually *achieves* their plans) In othet words, they dont/ won't "dispose of waste materials" . They WILL fully recyclr an increasingly valuable resource. Compare that to USA? As far as I can tell, regulations all adress the "waste management" of panels, rather than a national, mandatory recycling initiative? Prove me wrong?. . (Looks like another win for China)
Please recalculate! Oil vs. solar panels. The number and calculations were helpful yet missing one crucial element to make the calculation more accurate: (1) how much oil and natural gas (ONG) is consumed to mine and refine the materials to build a solar panel (2) how much ONG is consumed to manufacture a solar panel (3) how much ONG is consumed to distribute and deploy a solar panel? Not one solar panel, wind turbine, EV or battery storage system has been manufactured and deployed without consuming fossil fuels. We generate fossil fuel pollution to extract fossil fuels, consume more fossil fuels to refine and distribute fossil fuels, consume more fossil fuels to operate mining equipment to extract minerals to manufacture renewable energy products… and on and on. I look forward to a time when we stop burning fossil fuels and use those precious resources to produce quality polymers and lubricants to keep EVs rolling. We still have a lot of work to do. @elonmusk

Do EVs use MORE or LESS lubricant over their lifetime compared to Fossil Fuel vehicles? (LESS ... and it's a HUGE difference! ... you really shot yourself in the foot with that one!! ONE [5,000 mile?] oil change on an ICE uses more oil than it takes to lubricate an EV for its WHOLE life! ) . As for "Not one unit deployed without fossil fuels" THAT DAY *WILL* COME! @@rogerstarkey5390- There is no argument that EVs use significantly less oil and resources compared to ICE during a vehicle’s lifetime. Lower maintenance means less resources. EVs win when it comes to oil changes and brake pads. I haven’t seen a maintenance interval for an EV that requires an oil change. Regenerative braking means longer brake pad life. (win-win) Regarding tires, I haven’t researched the claim that EVs consume more tires than ICE cars. Worth a look. The point is, EVs are not going to save the planet. Humans aren’t going to save the planet. No technology is going to save the planet. The best we can hope to do is reduce our consumption of resources while simultaneously reducing waste and pollution. The operation of an EV is a win for not polluting the air while driving. However, we must acknowledge the fact that mining, refining and manufacturing generate more pollution to make an EV than an ICE vehicle. This fact does not mean I prefer ICE over EV. I purchased my first EV in 2019 and I won’t go back. Like you, I look forward to a time when fossil fuels remain in the ground.

You can buy NEW tesla parts. They have their parts catalogue online and if its over the counter they provide part # just enter car and year range and it has every part online parts catalogue

North Alabama is different. TVA will purchase solar generated power. I installed 50KW system 12 years ago. The federal government provided 30% of the cost of the project. TVA purchases all of the power for 22 cents per KWH. For ten years. I purchased my power from Huntsville Utilities for 10 cents per KWH. This was a 10 year contract. I have a follow on 10 year contract where by TVA purchases all the power for 10 cents per KWH.
I find every time I’m at a store, gas station ( it’s were the charging stations are located) I open one of the falcon doors and I get lots of questions and people wanting to know more.

I am trying to get FSD after already having advanced auto pilot for 6000. FSD is 8000 so I owe 2000 but Tesla service is insisting I have to pay 3000 to upgrade. I can't get them to not charge 1000 extra to upgrade. It isn't 9000 but 8000. So frustrating.

The rumor is that the Cybertruck founders series production will stop in 2025. The founders series was for the early birds with deep pockets. Some time in 2025 or 2026, Tesla is planning to lower the prices on all Cybertrucks by 20,000.

Scooters and E bikes are being a real pain in Perth Australia. They drive down all our roads day and night. Lights mainly off. They fly along the footpaths and parks. My dog has so many close contacts as he can't hear them coming. The rider's are young and have little road rules knowledge. Very dangerous and unfortunately they are ruining it for us. I love E anything.
Yeah there are a lot of people that still dont even know what tesla is. I had someone ask me if it uses gas too.. umm nooo. Then so many are so surprised when they actually get in one and ride or drive it. I feel some advertising would help. But man you would be surprised at how many are uneducated on Teslas.
Well. . . . . . I can only give this Supercharger a 6 out of 10. However, it they post a security officer to the site, who issues citations for littering at the rate of : $1,000 per liter item, e.g., 2 bottles, 2 bottle caps, 2 paper napkins = 6 items = $6,000 fine or jail. 48 hour grace period in which to pay the fine then becomes automatic jail at the rate of 1 month jail time = $1,000 of fine. In this example at the end of 48 hours if the fine not paid, becomes a felony and the fine option disappears and the warrant is for 6 months of jail time. If this is in effect, then I'll give this Supercharger 9 out of 10.

The reason that solar panels are so costly in Alabama and any where else in the United States is PURE GREED
I live in Southern Calif. and our water and power company threw the most stops on us getting solar panels installed including 4-5 months after the panels were all installed before they put in the NEW box to connect with there system and yes it was there BOX. They then charged us monthly fees to transfer the solar panel power to their grid and then applied my solar power to reduce my power bill but they also gave me less credit for the power that came from the solar panels. NO POWER COMPANY IN THE US WANTS YOU TO HAVE SOLAR PANELS. Give some one a monoply and find out how fast they become GREEDY.

Got my gf to test drive a model y.
She didn't know anything about them and was considering a Volvo xc60.
She was blown away and amazed the tesla was cheaper.
Only concern left is the ground clearance, considering a lift kit.

FYI, I would not recommend going to the 55 supercharger station (Kettleman City) in the summer. Unless you like being out in the desert heat!! It doesn't have the canopies like the original supercharger in the video. I have been to both multiple times. Also, it is at highway 41 but most people will be coming from Interstate 5. It's right at both freeways.
Interested to hear the ideas you guys have for different Solar options and how people in the US can get around those solar fees. If he got a powerwall 3 and consumed the power more than feeding back to the grid in the middle of the day that might make the ongoing fees lower? Australia is starting to charge people to export solar to the grid when there is too much solar in the middle of the day.

I’ve been ridesharing my 7 year old Model S for the last 3 months in a city where Teslas are relatively rare. Every rider who starts a conversation is about my car, so needless to say I spend a lot of time dispelling the average FUD. Every conversation has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
Didn’t think I was ever going to afford a Tesla. More affordable all the time. And be able to actually get one before the steering wheels are completely removed 😅 love experiencing FSD 🤩 better each update.
I think a super cheap "Model 3e" may be coming, with the castings built in "unboxed" she away from the body and the "Gen 3" components on board.

@@rogerstarkey5390 Actually the steering wheel in personal vehicles will always be needed. I love FSD but I can come up with a thousand scenarios why you would need them. Here are some. Lets say your looking for a lost pet/ child you need to drive the neighborhood or more remote areas FSD cannot do that. You are driving along and see someone in distress and need to stop, you are at a concert/fair etc. and makeshift temp parking in a field. You need to rearrange vehicles in your driveway or just adjust them, Since FSD will not run someone over and it will avoid cones you encounter cones or people in your path the vehicle will stop and its an obvious trap to rob/highjack.
Of course the steering wheel could be collapsible normally out of the way and deployed as temp device but it will still be there.
Just my thoughts.

@10:02 this is the damage that the Leaf and LG Chem batteries did to the whole ev market....SMH This is where some fact driven Tesla adverts about the new battery chemistry and the warranty provided could go a long way. Also @34:08 Mark in Alabama needs watch Will Prowse' stuff and SS has 12kw for $4500 and inexpensive All in One Inverters like the 6000xp for $1300 that seems like they would suit your needs. Batteries for overnight still kinda pricey at 15kw for $3500. Total would be $9300 plus racking and permit if needed in your area.
Definitely advertising would help sales and lighten the load off of Tesla fans having to deal with all the FUD but... Not 1% ... Maybe .25%

I think Tesla needs to spend their advertising money on putting marquee signs up at all of their charging stations so the general public knows how many charging stations are out there and Tesla owners can find the charging station in the shopping mall or supermarket easier.

Please recalculate! Oil vs. solar panels.
The number and calculations were helpful yet missing one crucial element to make the calculation more accurate: (1) how much oil and natural gas (ONG) is consumed to mine and refine the materials to build a solar panel (2) how much ONG is consumed to manufacture a solar panel (3) how much ONG is consumed to distribute and deploy a solar panel?
Not one solar panel, wind turbine, EV or battery storage system has been manufactured and deployed without consuming fossil fuels.
We generate fossil fuel pollution to extract fossil fuels, consume more fossil fuels to refine and distribute fossil fuels, consume more fossil fuels to operate mining equipment to extract minerals to manufacture renewable energy products… and on and on.
I look forward to a time when we stop burning fossil fuels and use those precious resources to produce quality polymers and lubricants to keep EVs rolling.
We still have a lot of work to do. @elonmusk

@@rogerstarkey5390- There is no argument that EVs use significantly less oil and resources compared to ICE during a vehicle’s lifetime. Lower maintenance means less resources.
EVs win when it comes to oil changes and brake pads. I haven’t seen a maintenance interval for an EV that requires an oil change. Regenerative braking means longer brake pad life. (win-win)
Regarding tires, I haven’t researched the claim that EVs consume more tires than ICE cars. Worth a look.
The point is, EVs are not going to save the planet. Humans aren’t going to save the planet. No technology is going to save the planet. The best we can hope to do is reduce our consumption of resources while simultaneously reducing waste and pollution.
The operation of an EV is a win for not polluting the air while driving. However, we must acknowledge the fact that mining, refining and manufacturing generate more pollution to make an EV than an ICE vehicle. This fact does not mean I prefer ICE over EV. I purchased my first EV in 2019 and I won’t go back.
Like you, I look forward to a time when fossil fuels remain in the ground.

You can buy NEW tesla parts. They have their parts catalogue online and if its over the counter they provide part # just enter car and year range and it has every part online parts catalogue

Love the show guys - such great and highly relevant content to the future of driving. Robotaxi can increase the number of people appreciating the Tesla's advanced technology - but even 0.5% advertising budget can be useful.
North Alabama is different. TVA will purchase solar generated power. I installed 50KW system 12 years ago. The federal government provided 30% of the cost of the project. TVA purchases all of the power for 22 cents per KWH. For ten years. I purchased my power from Huntsville Utilities for 10 cents per KWH. This was a 10 year contract. I have a follow on 10 year contract where by TVA purchases all the power for 10 cents per KWH.
I find every time I’m at a store, gas station ( it’s were the charging stations are located) I open one of the falcon doors and I get lots of questions and people wanting to know more.

I am trying to get FSD after already having advanced auto pilot for 6000. FSD is 8000 so I owe 2000 but Tesla service is insisting I have to pay 3000 to upgrade. I can't get them to not charge 1000 extra to upgrade. It isn't 9000 but 8000. So frustrating.

The rumor is that the Cybertruck founders series production will stop in 2025. The founders series was for the early birds with deep pockets.
Some time in 2025 or 2026, Tesla is planning to lower the prices on all Cybertrucks by 20,000.

Did you know that most retired people living on social security are not eligible for the $7500 tax credit? I guess they don't want us (I am over 65) to have an electric vehicle. So, when I look for a new vehicle, an ICE vehicle has a $7500 price advantage.

Scooters and E bikes are being a real pain in Perth Australia. They drive down all our roads day and night. Lights mainly off. They fly along the footpaths and parks. My dog has so many close contacts as he can't hear them coming. The rider's are young and have little road rules knowledge. Very dangerous and unfortunately they are ruining it for us. I love E anything.
Yeah there are a lot of people that still dont even know what tesla is. I had someone ask me if it uses gas too.. umm nooo. Then so many are so surprised when they actually get in one and ride or drive it. I feel some advertising would help. But man you would be surprised at how many are uneducated on Teslas.
Well. . . . . . I can only give this Supercharger a 6 out of 10. However, it they post a security officer to the site, who issues citations for littering at the rate of : $1,000 per liter item, e.g., 2 bottles, 2 bottle caps, 2 paper napkins = 6 items = $6,000 fine or jail. 48 hour grace period in which to pay the fine then becomes automatic jail at the rate of 1 month jail time = $1,000 of fine. In this example at the end of 48 hours if the fine not paid, becomes a felony and the fine option disappears and the warrant is for 6 months of jail time. If this is in effect, then I'll give this Supercharger 9 out of 10.
