To be fair, the Bulls, Cavs, Hawks, Knicks and Wizards all as of 2024 missed on picks. The draft isnt a science, its luck. It has way too many factors to cite whether a player is successful or not. People just blanket it all by blaming the organization for not knowing any better. Its easy to look back at a draft and blaming the teams who missed for not knowing the future. I think a draft pick busting should be blamed more on bad organizations who cant develop talent. If you hypothetically had the same clone drafted by all 30 teams, youd get 30 different versions of a player. Chances are the Spurs, or OKC version becomes the best or close to best versions of themsevles. If theyre drafted by the Kings, Hornets, or Knicks, chances are they wont come close. If theyre drafted by a team like Boston who tends to be very stingy with rookie minutes unless the players above and beyond talented, chances are theyll bloom later into good role players to great NBA players. I think organizations deserve more blame. Coaching staff, trainers, development staff, how much time, money and effort a team puts into resources for a player to improve. Also the player doesnt ever get blamed for being a bust. The players effort, drive to improve, fight for minutes and natural talent all matter too. Basically, theres way too much to guage for any one thing to get all the blame. Out of a average draft you get what.....? 5 All-Stars maybe....maybe 1-2 All-NBA caliber players if youre lucky. Maybe 10 great role players and maybe 10 more decent role players who go on to have 5-7 year long careers. 60 players a draft and maybe......MAYBE... 1/3 of them have great to respectable careers. Thats 40 picks on average that just dont pan out. Its a crap shoot, you can do all the research possible, but the fact that we get a Kwame Brown, Anthony Bennett, Hasheem Thabeet, or James Wiseman to this day just speaks to the fact that its all luck. If it were a science and teams had everything they needed to hit every time, we wouldnt have busts. Too many factors, some of them that cant even be calculated by numbers to account for a pick hitting vs. a bust.

Pretty funny that 4 of the top 14 players drafted in the 2020 draft are now here in Indy playing for my Pacers. (Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin, Aaron Nesmith and Jalen Smith.)
There's this funny thing about Maxey in college: his inefficiency was only half of the story. He actually had an ungodly high PER stat when he was running P&R, meaning his long shot just wasn't falling consistently, but his shot selection and variety of finishing skills was always great.
I really feel bad for the ball brothers when it comes to the injuries, they have all been playing since they where able to walk and it now catching up to them when they finally made it to the end goal of the Nba
We should also understand that this draft class happened during the heights of the pandemic so scouts have gotten neither full scouting reports nor prospects were able to workout with NBA teams. That probably attributed to a lot of hits and misses in this draft.
@@jayburnham3994underrated comment. Because steph almost didn’t make it because of those damn ankles. It took until like 2012 for Steph to finally shake that
Ant with just a semi-friendly whistle, is a 30 PPG scorer, easy. Last night he got a semi-friendly whistle and was 11-11 FT's, with 34 points. In that same game he guarded the opponents best player (a PF / C) in the second half. Ant is on the verge of being hands down the best two-way perimeter player in the NBA.

That non contact injury to his ankle was not the injury that put him out for the season. Ppl keep thinking this cuz it was the last one. He had 3 contact injuries on the same ankle before the non contact to his left. Cmon... LaMelo only played bcuz the Hornets didnt want to bottom out, once they saw the writing on the wall they shut him down for the rest of the season. He had about 15 games where he was fully healthy.
Also LaMelo has the 2nd highest BPM in that draft on the horrible team he is on, I dont like how he kinda got lumped in there like a mistake thats insane. Hes just unfortuned.
You didn’t mention a very good two way player, one of the best defensive player and this year a breakout season and a future star deni Avdija , very solid , double double and a very good play maker for a 6’9 small forward
Lamelo should take a year off and focus on full rehabilitation. If he had another flare up in the same ankle, it just indicates it’ll keep hindering his career. It’s better to sacrifice one season instead of risking the rest of your career.
If the warriors took Halliburton then they would’ve had to developed two new guards in Jordan Poole and him then the warriors would’ve had to to end up picking which guard to pick
Wiseman is what GS needs that’s what the fans asking for but unfortunately his lack of basketball IQ and playing time in college shows his weaknesses. Hali on the other hand, seems like a great fit to the GS now but we need to remember that Steph is GS’s system I doubt he will blossom under Steph coz obviously he will be just another backup guard whenever Steph sits. He will never get the touches he needs in order to grow as what he’s right now. JP is an exception. He came out of nowhere, no one expects him to be that good in ‘21-‘22.
Tyrese is lucky he didn't start his career as a warrior. It's better to build his name then get traded to big market rather than helping steph to win a ring.
I think if lamelo wants an actual career he should hit up Curry and whoever helped him with his ankle injuries. I don’t see any reasons not to basically put a stint that will never bend around his ankle. He’s a professional athlete he could adapt and try multiple things, just as long as it cuts off a huge amount of movement in the ankle. Since no matter what, your body becomes more easily injured the more injured and worse injury it is. You roll your ankle for the first time and then it keeps happening every year and that’s because that’s how our stupid body’s work. So he has to basically get curry type of ankle guards and I don’t know why he hasn’t. What type of team doctors does he have? Are they not able to find other cases of players who have really bad ankle injuries and end up doing fine after getting heavy support? I mean curry probably has worse ankles than lamelo, yet he played a lot. It’s actually crazy how much movement and running curry has yet he barely injuries his ankle.
