You just made my day. Side note for people who need to export back to Unreal: - Make sure scale for import and export is set to 1 (cm) - You can bake Pose Morph by dropping the obj (here cloth_parent) into the Timeline. Then go to Functions > Bake & enable PLA. - then export as alembic, make sure to check UVs
If this does not work, like it just doesn't loop when you reach the last frame, do not panic. Looping alembics is still very possible to do and the method is similar to this, but it involves a bit more work: - You will need to have 3 animated copies of your alembic mesh (all baked using PLA Keyframe Bake setting in the Timeline) ; one for the start of your animation, one for the end of your animation, and one for the loop (where you will put the Pose Morph Tag) -You will then need to offset the baked keyframes of the start and end meshes to half of your time's length in the corresponding directions so it can loop -You will then need to animate the morph tag in a way that the start of your animation (Copy 1) morphs into your original animation (Original Baked Mesh PLA Copy) and then into the end of your animation. It's very hard to explain properly in words, but ThePixelLab2011 has a video on how to exactly do this method. Please look it up!
Aaaaaaahhh, thank you so much for explaining this Ben, I was going to go absolutely craycray about a loop I'm working on that would not nicely loop, now it's all seamless and great 🤪
love your videos man! Chilled and relaxed. Best way to digest all that info. Highly appreciated. Maybe you can also help me with my pipeline: I got here a real-life armor that I planned to 3D scan via Luma AI and NERF scan into UE and then I wanted to export the armor to Marvelous Designer and then back to UE. Maybe you know a easier way? thanks!!!
Hi dear Ben, many thanks for your kindness! I did but it's not worked :( I'm so sad and it's too much necessary for now and for me, I will be very happy and if you can help me for this reason please. one more question, is it work in Marvelous Designer too or not?
if you go to 1:48, you’ll see a check under “use animation” and you’ll need to uncheck that and keyframe the frames of the alembic you want to use (probably greyed out now). I just simulated the walk cycle, so the alembic spit out what I needed for simplicity so I was able to use the animation
For some reason, when I switch to generators, nothing happens at all.... I followed the tutorial to a tee, but for some reason it just doesn't want to make any changes, even when I move the slider.... When I leave it at expression it changes in the viewport but not when I play in the timeline....Does anyone know what the issue is here?
I think I found the solution to my issue.... I ended up re-exporting the alembic from MD, making sure that everything had the same particle distance, and then I did the same workflow but in Houdini. If anyone is interested, I could make a vid on that.
You can export out of Marvelous Designer choosing the selected OBJ. From there it will save just the clothing and animation simulation. You then import that file into C4D.
Hey man, first, thank you so much for these tutorials, I've been a designer (just graphic) and been wanting to get into this and branding clothing lines and then I heard you mention clients. Would you mind mentioning the business side of this please? Thank you!
Hey! Thanks for watching, my pleasure. I'll try to put out some more soon. I wrote a little diddy about the business side here: www.reddit.com/r/Cinema4D/comments/ybo322/how_i_started_freelancing_in_motion_design/ I'm definitely not a business guru by any means, but I feel like getting started is the hardest part and once I got a handful of steady clients my financial stresses went away and I could just focus on making the projects look cooler.

thanks a lot
Another amazing tutorial.
Can you go through your process in Marvelous?
Can we do this on blender?

Hi dear Ben,
many thanks for your kindness!
I did but it's not worked :( I'm so sad and it's too much necessary for now and for me, I will be very happy and if you can help me for this reason please.
one more question, is it work in Marvelous Designer too or not?
genius!
please make mire tutorials!
you should make a tutorial of how to do the hoodie
Thank you so much this is too spesific problem for spesific solve
how do you export to make it a postable video on social?
not working T.T... My version is R26, Has anyone experienced the same problem as me and found a solution?
How did u delete the transition frames in the beginning pf the alembic?

@@bengillespie8967 I'm talking about the transition animation from MD before the walking animation starts

How did you import it without the initial T-Pose?
You can export out of Marvelous Designer choosing the selected OBJ. From there it will save just the clothing and animation simulation. You then import that file into C4D.
Forgot to tell you...run the animation sim in MD first. The pose should stay like that and then you export. My bad.
didnt work
can you solve this?
Did you find some way for solving looping simulation cloths?
How to with blender? :"(
