Great vid Rob. I heard saphire on back because strap would scratch plastic crystal. Also heard the back can be removed to replace entire system 51 movement. Love my Atlantic. Much nicer than my MoonSwatch, though love my red Misson to Mars too.
I am happy that all 2 of them are yours - that you had to tell it 3 times … i also started collecting Moonswatches and Scubas. Love them - fun watches . But what is red Mercury. . Mercury Moonswatch is black. And yes - movement can be replaced despite the poisonous comments of all serviceability fans.
Nice catch, I had a choice of 3 at my local Swatch store last week (Atlantic and Antarctic editions out of stock), so I went with the Pacific Ocean version. First impressions: the anti glare coating is surprisingly good, the 120 click bezel action is good, the strap is very comfortable and well made, the date wheel is colour matched and the bezel is fully lumed. 90 hours power reserve is excellent even if there is a bit of trickery involved. The crown action is a bit startling at first (a bit loose, cheap feeling), no hacking seconds and why put the sapphire crystal on the caseback and not on the front? I suspect quite a few buyers will never get to see the caseback either because of the Nato strap.
Pretty cool and must be light. A bit fat but should be comfortable, good lume, good bezel, readable. Paying a lot for styling but other than a Casio you always are with watches.

I think I remember somebody from blancpain saying it’s a serviceable movement? Edit ✍️ not serviceable but it is automatic not quartz like the moonswatches
It's a potentially replaceable movement, not serviceable though. If you have an issue with the movement during the warranty period, they will give you a brand new watch. After that I'm not sure what happens.
Its sort of serviceable. The movement itself isn't serviceable but the movement is replaceable. Not quite "servicing" but at least you aren't left with a dud watch if the movement breaks. Current model System 51 movement watches can all have their movements replaced - only the first gen were completely sealed. I was excited about this but really didn't like the look IRL. It looks cheap and plastic IMHO. Also I am a bit concerned about the build quality given how the moonswatch turned out (the pushers breaking off after only weeks of wear, the colour bleeding issues etc.).
These can be purchased from China for as little as $21.95 which seems about right for a plastic watch. I am not advocating buying counterfeit watches but I am also not a fan of sending $400 to Swatch who likely is supporting the Chinese economy. Alternatively, I could spend $250 on a SEIKO SRPD51 and still have enough money to take my family out to dinner. To each his own
@@RandomRobReviews Yes. Illegal is certainly a consideration but less important to me than the fact that I would be lying to myself and everyone else around me if I bought a counterfeit product. With that said, Swatch is almost inviting copies at the current price. I would be a buyer around the $250 mark on the high end. Definitely a cool watch and I have always been a fan of the 50 Fathoms although I don't see one in my collection soon at $15K
I've never particularly liked the aesthetic of the BPFF but I can see why Swatch would create this. There's definitely a market for it as seen by the MoonSwatch and if there is a market, then as a business they have an obligation to exploit it to make money. I personally have no problem with that. The problem I have is the Sistem51 is unserviceable. Paying $400 for an intentionally unserviceable watch that will eventually go into landfill in 3 years just bugs me. It can't be sold on the market to a hobbyist watch repairer. The movement can't be repurposed for spares. It annoys me as someone who is adamant about having the right to repair things I pay for.
This watch is... a waste of money?... disposable... just imagine what you get from CASIO or SEIKO for that money... - this must be made for rich kids - or people suffering from FOMO... 😅
I can bet anything that in 20 years time - this will be worth more than your Casio or Seiko. P.S. I can also all 4 letters for which nobody knows the meaning - AGHT
Considering the fact that system 51 swatches are usually sold at 180 to 220 € , at the Swatch boutiques, the asking price of 390 € is an exorbitant price hike. Best Regards
I am surprised you posted such comment here, like you don’t know this channel at all. I show all watches here. This is a safe place for watch lovers. Swatch is a great brand and part of the reason I even got into this hobby.

Let people spend their money the way they want to. This has a Blancpain movement which adds a lot of credibility to this piece.

I've read they went with sapphire on case back to prevent the nato strap from scratching mineral or acrylic. What's on the front...mineral or acrylic?

That would be ideal. Sure it will take a very long time before needed too.
