dont forget the "i read this horrible book for school that made me hate reading now" book slump
Paula Salazar YEAH I KNOW RIGHT I HAVE JUST GOTTEN BACK TO SCHOOL AMD MY ELA TEACHER HAS RUINED IT FOR ME:/
I either don't read anything for six months, or read five books in three weeks, there's no in between.

Same
5 books in 3 weeks? weak. ;)
Mary Ann Hoag no not really
@@eylulvv did you know that a wink is often used to convey sarcasm?
"Some people think when they get to a mourning period, that the way to deal with that is to go to Netflix."
I'm so impressed with all the time and effort you put into this video. GO YOU AND YOUR VIDEO MAKING SKILLZ! I love the nods to Jane, because Jane the Virgin is everything!
+Tashapolis THANKS NATASHA
Tashapolis me too! Except with me, it is "the 💯", not Jane the virgin 😂😂😂
My new motto = 20 pages a day keeps my book slumps at bay :)
I need that on a mug!
+Jennifer F Santucci or on a t-shirt
Himanshi Pandey or how about both...
+Chloe Brown when you have been in a slump for so long, 20 pages is a triumph
You don't do a mandatory hour a day? How is 20 pages a day working for you?
But what do you do when you're in a reading slump because you're watching too much booktube and that leads you to buying too many books and that leads you to having too many books to read and that leads you to reading too many books at one time and that leads you to a mourning period and that leads you to eventually going a long time without reading and that leads you to becoming so hungry that you can't read
That is me. Soooooo many books
literally me😂
+Bibliosaurusrex Wauw! I got in a reading slump while reading this hihi! :P
+Bibliosaurusrex THIS IS ME HELP
Literally me on my last slump a couple months ago
OMG! "Take a few steps outside."
"Aaaahhhh"
"Yeah, we don't like it out there"
That was perfect!! XD
"Aw it's awful. We don't like it out there"
OMG couldn't be any more accurate and funny LOL
+Mandy Chung =P
***** you are the best and funnest person as well u will like to read the farm by Emily McKay I have finish this book and I just pick up the second book to this series and I'm loving this series.
I swear, I choked on my food.
Case I- Not being able to read books, because you're too obsessed with watching booktube videos.
the worst
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
*looks over at abandoned book in shame after half an hour of booktube*
Literally me right now *looks over at book on bed, goes back to iPad and UA-cam*
That would literally be me! : ( the struggle is real
"Read for fun mandatorily" accurate
I love your videos like this!!
All of these cases have been so true XD
I hit the burn out slump all the time!!
I didn't even realize that was something that happened to other people ahahaha
This video was a perfection
OMG i freaked out when Christine held her laptop over her balcony
+Allister Hawkins yeah! me too, we all know how she loves her laptop lol

Just me who thought about Champion when she said that?
Me in a reading slump:
*watches UA-cam*
Me: I should really read....
*Picks up book and tries to read it and fails*
Me: Meh, I will read this later
*3 months later*
*Still hasn't read the book*
So true
Summer Kitsune for me it’s
I need to read
Makes a long list of the books I want to read in a notebook
Can’t find the notebook
Gives up
Doesn’t read for 3 years
Watches UA-cam
Then I try again
"Netflix is a gateway time waster." :'D CHRISTINE, YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN.
I'm sorry, "Reading is a muscle, just like anything else." I hadn't finished the video yet.
+ProductionStudios I'm putting that quote on my wall.
this is probably the best video so far. I was laughing the entire time
+Ashley Curtin yay so glad you enjoyed it!
+polandbananasBOOKS Best Video I ever watched! With the last Harry Potter Video together! 💞👍
My biggest problem is fanfiction! I read it all the time when I should be reading ma books.. it´s just so addicting to just think of a situation or pairing and just search for a story. That ability to read about exactly that thing you´ve been thinking of is just so darn nice :D
I feel like I have all eight of those problems at once. SOS send help.
I WAS V DEDICATED TO GET FIRST COMMENT SO NOW I CAN LEAVE REAL COMMENT:
SO GOOD.
"20 pages a day keeps the reading slumps at bay" LOVE
I am case potato a lot. The hunger is real.
The end tho. THE END. NEVER GO OUTSIDE ONLY READ.
I'm a little ashamed to admit this, but whatever this is a safe space. I haven't read a book(not even for school) in a little over two years. I start a whole bunch and none stick. I don't know the cause (it could be school, Netflix, anxiety or my FOMO) but I really feel like I'm getting further and further away from reading and I do not want that.
+MelodicMeows
+polandbananasBOOKS
hey um can u do an review on lady midnight after u read it
+polandbananasBOOKS the ones that are popular on booktube like vampire academy, the lunar chronicles and some contemporary books. they all have interesting plots but nothing really makes me want to keep readings them when I can be doing something else.
MelodicMeows well it just came out a few days or weeks and alot of people are reading it. And I'm ubsesed with the mortal instruments series. And this is this is the knew book of Cassandra Clair's new series
READ ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS AND LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR GO GO GO DO IT
This is the best video I have ever seen in my entire life
+Isabelle 7 haha thank you =)
I had a "reading slump" my whole life until two years ago when I started watching Christine 😁
same
Your videos are my way to escape from reading slumps
+Mariana Mosquera
PERFECT TIMING !
"Hello from the other side" 😂😂😂 OMG i love you😂😂
+Lois Slot
last year i read over 60 books, but this years i've only read 6 or 8 (?) i hate myself and i hate kdramas
EXACTLY ME!!! KDRAMAS AND ANIME!!! :((( WHAT SHOULD WE DO????
I watched bride of haebak instead of reading A court of wings and ruin
I don't know how ?
This was genius Christine!Thank you!it was amazing!
+aharrypotterfan
+polandbananasBOOKS What video editor do you use???
that awkward moment when you should be reading but your watching Christine's videos instead
School has been keeping me so busy December is the month of deadlines and there's just so much to do and I want to read I have more than 10 books at home that are unread and there are even more that I want to buy there's so much pressure and stress and I can't read so it's case 4 and 5 for me :( I'm sad... I really want to read...
And I love your videos! I appreciate how much effort you put into these videos and thanks a lot for the tips on getting out of book slumps :)
+Vincci Chung I know very well about the school thing. I just half-fast it and it comes out horrible and I know should feel guilty... But I dont
How come December is the month of deadlines? Exams are in June?
probally so they can you how bad your test scores are after christmast
Same. It's school that's keeping me from reading, especially my new language arts teacher. *Cries in a corner*
THIS IS SO ACCURATE I LOVE IT HAHAHAHA
+mmmmmarsya yay!! thank you! =D
+polandbananasBOOKS Christine, I have a question. I love reading books but I also love writing books. How can I make a balance between the two of them?
I'm in the 'I've just fractured my wrist so I cannot physically hold a book comfortably' reading slump, what do I do?? I would read on my e reader but all the books I want to read are in physical form *sigh*
There are book stands you can buy that will hold the book for you! I have one and love it. (All you have to do is turn the page)
+Lizzie Dymond oh wow that's sounds like a serious reading problem... mmh do you like audiobooks maybe? They take longer to read so by the time your done with one book your hand is hopefully better too ;) get well soon :)
+Lizzie Dymond I had a similar problem, from a wrist sprain, one thing you can do is lay on your side and prop the book up against a soft pillow (you can also you chip bag clips to hold the pages open) with a smaller pillow holding the pages open at the bottom. Or you can sit up in a comfy chair and put a pillow (or two) on your lap while the book lies open, and all you have to do is turn the pages. Also, I have a bunch of squishy pillows (with these bead things instead of stuffing) that are great for just piling in different positions to hold up books, so if you have anything like that, they're very useful! Most of these tips work best with large hardcover books, I don't know how well they would work with a mass market paperback. I hope this helps, and feel better!
+A World of Words I'll try some of these later, thank you!
You're welcome :)
Your AMAZING videos always make me happy))) You are an awesome youtuber/ booktuber)))
+sofia mashchenko yay thank you
+polandbananasBOOKS The first part kind of happens to me.
my worst reading slump was probably 9 months of not finishing a single book. i just read everything halfway through and because of that i forgot what is the story and i need to read from the start that made me more stuck in the reading slump. i feel so unproductive during those months.
I just started Breaking Dawn and I feel like I'm going to be in a reading slump when I finish it. This series is just so good!😍
"Too many books induced slump"
me: looks at the shelf of books I've uet to read
me: whelp
omg another great video Christine! XD haha I feel inspired now
+badger-buddy YAY THANK YOU!! =D
I had a book slump for the whole of summer but I didn't watch your channel back then sigh* oh well NOW I HAVE FOUND MY FAVE UA-camR EVER
The legend trilogy has sent me into the mourning period....
MUST
KEEP
READING
MUST
NOT
CRY
The burnout always happens to me I once reread the entire PJO series in TWO! days and after that I didn't read for an entire week then I was 3 books behind on my tbr
Cyndi Miller same!
I read like 15 books in October. and in November I read 4. I'm a burnout. XD
I've been in a reading slump since YallFest! It was a week long vacation for me and I was so excited that I barely read and got out of the habit. I'll have to try to going outside tip, haha, it will surely sending me running for my books again.
But Jane The Virgin though. Worth the reading slump!
You know what got me into a massive reading slum? The mortal instruments. I absolutely loved the series! I started it 2 years ago I think and read the last one 1 year ago. After I finished it I couldn't really get into another series. It was like I knew I would never find other books that are as good. I couldn't even get into The infernal devices. Also, i was pretty busy the last year and I think I didn't finish more than 2 books. Currently I am rereading Harry Potter and I hope it helps me getting out of this massive reading slum and that I can finally enjoy other books again. I always loved reading and I'm really sad that I didn't enjoy it in the last year.
THIS IS PERFECT, CHRISTINE. SO WELL DONE.
I can't stop laughing. First Colleen Hoover and then Netflix DUUUUN!
+Cristy's Mess Agreed - so freaking funny. This video made my day!!
+Boho Bookworm yes! It's not only the content, Christine is great at editing. Awesome storytelling 👏🏼
This is the most amazing video ever! All of these apply to me... One slump was missing though! The reread slump. It starts with the mourning phase, then you just can't pick up a book Why? you may ask... because all you want to do is reread that awesome book you read 2 years ago but you also don't want to reread it because you've already read it but at the same time you could get over that slump by just rereading the book... NO then the mourning phase comes again and you are back where you started!
"Hi I'm Doctor Sasgard" I legit went into tears laughing XD Hahaha! This video is so accurate!!
Hm.... what about reading fanfictions of your favourite ships????
Solution for everything: Cassandra Clare.
that is 110% true
YES
Solution B: Rick Riordan
Grace Curley Solution C: (for me not for everyone) read ACOMAF for the billionth time. Please help me
Half of these described me perfect recently! I've gone back and forth between being in a slump and not being in a slump this whole year.
I've been having a horrendous book slump these past months and this really helped! I love you, Christine!
You misspelled mourning. Not to be that person but I'm a ravenclaw and can't ignore it
That's only if your from the UK or if your Canadian
paige amber No, it's spelled that way everywhere
please do a video on "unpopular book opinions tag" 😀
You literally went over every reading slump I've ever had since the year began. This was so helpful. Thanks for posting this video
yet every single time im in a book slump i would come back to this video... like its always help... thank Christine
You upload this as I'm reading. The irony
+ILoveWubs Same
+ILoveWubs Hahahaha exactly!! I have Cinder in front of me - but then I saw this video uploaded................. shameful hahaha
+ILoveWubs LOVE UR PROFILE PICTUREEEEE!!!!!!!
+Boho Bookworm the lunar chronicles is amazing I just finished cress and I'm going to the bookshop everyday and checking the new titles, trust me you'll love it
+Victorian Fangirl I've heard really good things about the Lunar Chronicles. Should I read them?
that one moment when you're not even done reading your book yet and you buy like 20 more.. heh me everyday
THIS IS AWESOME I CANT EVEN I LOVE THIS THIS WAS AMAZING!!!! I honestly dont know how Christine comes up with such clever ideas and her editing.... HER EDITING IS SO ON POINT SOOOOO AWESOME
Loved this video christine!! Literally two weeks ago I was watching Jane and reading Winter!! I related so much to every point!!
The first one is me with the Lunar Chronicles rn. I'm trying to find a book but my heart hurts and idek why because it was a happy ending but I'm so
lol *"morning"* period instead of *"mourning"* period
I had the a case of the reading slump too, but it was something entirely different than the ones you were stating in your video. However, while watching book readers such as yourself motivates me to get off my phone and start reading. And normally if I am in a reading slump, I normally read my favourite book. That normally helps in those troubled times.
As someone who hasn't picked up a book in over two weeks, I needed a remind to get up and go read, so thank you.
+Emily Capehart
Me: OMG Christine has a video about book slumps!
Me: Maybe it will help me!
Christine: ( Case 5) Aww look at you!
C: You're so cute!!!
Me: *blush* aww thanks *gets out of slump*
Me: It worked!
Ah, is this the reason there isn't a booktalk of Winter yet? ;-)
+Lea de Vries yeah i'm on page 194 of 820 something =P
+polandbananasBOOKS Hi Christine, I think it's so cool and nice that you responded (didn't really expect you to, you must get loads of comments on your video's). I just wanted to let you know that you cheer up my day with your videos. I'm from the Netherlands, and a few of my booklover friends know you as well. It's realy awesome what you have accomplished by talking about books and making funny sketches. You've made my love for books so much bigger than it already was. Thank you. Lots of love from Holland!
Christine is the whole reason I started reading constantly, last year I found her channel and its been lols every second!
I always get in reading slumps because I want to read EVERYTHING but I don't have the money #tooyoungforajobprobs
+Juliabeans
Another thing that puts me into a book slump is booktube! Instead of reading I watch all of Christine's videos for the millionth time and add ten thousand more books to my tbr
Case 9: Disney Movies
Possibly the best video about books ever. Problem is... still to lazy to follow this guide haha... help.
Slaying the book slump indeed! Also, thank you for this timing! I'm doing a speech in IPC about how the lack of reading is effecting you emotionally and how to get back on track. This gave me some wonderful ideas, THANK YOU!!!
This is probably my favorite @polandbananasbooks video ever!! And all of those reading slumps are very recognizable!! Although my latest reason for having a reading slump is not in this video..... *walks away mysteriously*
Despite this... I'm in the worst book slump ever. I don't usually get them, but after ACOMAF I just cannot move on. I've tried EVERYTHING HELP
THIS IS AMAZING haha I love it. Also is true ahh I'm the too busy reading slump currently bc school sucks BUT IM WORKING ON IT🎉 =)
+Liv Herondale THANK YOU =P
Me too, I want to read but stupid school prevents it
this is the best thing ever!! i just got out of my book slump by reading "me before you" and then "after you"...I am totally back and reading 1-2 chapters a night :)
Oh my god I love you THIS IS SO ME! I was lost for a year, and than I came back!! And watched book videos and started reading. Now I've read a book every day for the last three days, in fact I've read 4 books in the last three days :o
*Mourning
Except when you watch the hundred or Lost, because those shows are too good to stop for a book😂😭🙈
I was exhibit 3 for the longest time! Now I'm back to books and I'm so in love!
I recently came out of a minor book slump, and I'm so glad to be back. I'm also glad I found your channel through that awkward yet adorable date Evan set up. I'm not in love yet, but I'm incredibly intrigued.
I REREAD HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS AND IM IN THE MORNING PERIOD😭😭😭😭😭😭HARRY I MISS U
What about when video games take over your love for books?
+mikail irwan ouuu.. .i've never had that problem becuase i'm not a gamer but i'd say refer to scenario 2 (netflix) =P
Your Jane the Virgin subtitles... I love that show!!! And I've finally started reading again
CHRISTINE'S SKETCHES ARE F**KING LIFE! THANKS, CHRISTINE!
don't you mean Mourning period? not morning?
+OnceUponANovel YES IT WAS A TYPO. i was on tuesday deadline and i i russhed and did not catch it * le sigh*
+polandbananasBOOKS aww, well that's OK. stuff happens sometimes. but I totally get slump #2. damn Netflix gets me all the time.
Riccio for president 2016
K Craig omg yes
so creative! love the idea of hiding books away to make yourself focus on one at a time because all those unread books can be overwhelming. time to get smart about this. :)
Oh my goodness. I was literally looking for a video like this yesterday because I'm in the worst reading slump yet. THANK YOU FOR THIS CHRISTINE I NEEDED IT
+Totyhelen
PLS DO A MOCKINGJAY PART 2 MOVIE REVIEW LIVE SHOW
+Ana Sofia Rodrigues She has!! It's up go check!!
Can anyone reccomend me a good book? I've been running out of ideas on what to read. I like Fantasy novels (Mortal Instruments, The Selection and such). I'm also fond of Maze Runner. At times I like to read romantic novels (Me Before You, If I Stay, etc.). But I'm not really picky, those are just the usual kinds I read. I'm open to any kind of book. Suggestions? (PS not really sure if I categorized the books right. No hate. I just wanna read)
Oooo, you should try the Shatter Me series! I really really love those books.
You should read Red Queen!
+Pauline Ann I've read Red Queen and it was okay. I felt it was a bit too slow-paced but otherwise it was an okay read.
If you haven't read the lunar chronicles you should really read it, I'm on book three and the series is amazing
Throne of glass
I'm in a bit of a reading slump now so I'm glad you uploaded this perfect timing Christine!
I was in a reading slump but now I watch your videos, jesses and kats and I'm reading a lot more and know more books that I would like!
FIRST
+maureenkeavy *ALL THE APPLAUSE*
THIS IS THE MOST USEFUL VIDEO FOR BOOK SLUMPS THANK YOU!!!
Really needed this video right now. Haven't read in months and only read 20 books this year when last year I read over 50 books. Really excited to get back into reading but needed a motivator.
Your videos are so amazing!! Thank you so much for taking the time to create them for us!!
This made me pick up my long forgotten book to finally read again! :)
Lmao I love you. So many funny relatable parts in this video. Has anyone ever gotten a Netflix slump?I refuse to watch a series when I know what's going to happen because I watched an episode out of order.
Ugh I was in such a huge reading slump from the end of summer to now and now I'm doing #HarryXmasToYou and my slump is gone!!! Victory!! Omg the Netflix slump happens to me way to often. My giant reading slump started with having way to many books on my shelf and I couldn't choose. It was difficult. "20 pages a day keep my book slumps at bae." I love you Christine!
Great video the first slump is exactly how I was after reading Winter, can't wait for Decembers Booksplosion!
This video represents me perfectly. I'll get out of the reading slump, I know I will! ✌🏻️
This was great Christine! You're sketches about reading and books are always so funny and on point! I'm definitely in the Netflix slump right now haha.
+Ratherbejaded thank you!!!
this is my favorite booktube video
I wish I could do something more than just like the video. I love it, not just this one but all of them! It takes a special mind to observe the simple ways we act and then describe them with such accuracy and witty humor. I really admire you for this Christine, keep up the good work! :D
This is one of the funniest videos! I love this one and the rant one the best....these characters are great Christine! You are probably the most talented person I've seen in a LONG time! God Bless!
