No he wasn't. This is the fallacy that JB benefits from by standing next to Tatum. I've said it for years. Tatum goes 5-15 he's crucified. Brown goes 3-12 no one notices. Tatum outclassed him in every major stat, had more 30 pt games, scored more overall points, had more double doubles(3), had more AST with a lower TO ratio, rebounded better, made better plays and their defensive rating was exactly the same. JT the better player, Brown was a lil more efficient and hit a big shot in game 3. IMO that’s why I think he the nod. Other than that Tatum was impactful everywhere.
Illogical comment. Why would NBA give JB the MVP it the league wants to make JT the poster child of the NBA. Are you a man? Certainly don't think like one.
Brown deserved it with his consistency on both sides of the ball. Everyone else had their contributions but what Brown did ,since really the Conference finals, really anchored that lvl of play for the rest of the team
Light Skin Coalition trying to support they brethren... Can't be mad at it but they reaching. Brown clearly was the best player in the entire Finals Series
As a Celtics fan I think it could’ve gone either way, but I think Brown was 100% deserving. He made clutch shots and locked it down defensively when needed, he really was elite on both ends of the court. Stop trying to stir up the pot.
this dude just talking. JB deserved that shit for sure. Tatum been getting more media coverage than JB for a long time, of course it would be the same on the biggest stage. JB was wayyyy more locked in throughout the playoffs, played a lot more concistently than JT, and was overall the better player IMO. No discredit to JT tho, he played great, he does more than just score and casuals dont realize that. Both great players
No. What. Is this true? Was it weird to a lot of people? It was either JB or Jrue. Tatum did not come through at all nor did he deserve it as much as the two others. He played average, didn't even feel like he was the "main factor" all superstars are.
Jaylen Brown played a very methodical game, Tatum wasn’t, just gunning sometimes. Game 5 he recovered but I wouldn’t go as far as to say he won FMVP. Brown outright deserved it
Rivers is in his feelings! Jaylen was better period! He's showing his confusing alliance for his mulatto brethren! And who is this "WE" he's talking about? That's that white boy side in him talking out of pocket!
Yall on bs. They (media, fans) wanted JT to win the trophy im from St. Louis nonody bigger fans of JT than us. But even i know JB deserved the mvp i would have been upset had JB not been mvp bc it's about being fair i know that JB was the main reason they went up 3-0 thus the main reason they won he was the most dominant between the 2. Guarded luka. Sparked the crowd. JT went off in the close out game not as impressive. And im the biggest JT fan i just kept it real the media wanted JT to win the mvp the celtics fans did. Ausitn tf you talking about did you watch how JB was all over the place idgaf how much the camera is on JT
There’s a reason Austin Rivers ain’t in the league anymore. JB definitely deserved every piece of that award, the most consistent since they became teammates. Always carrying Tatum 💯
They have almost similar stats but the numbers slightly favor Tatum. I will pick Brown because of the defense on Luka and sometimes on Kyrie. In this modern league we have too many players that can score because no defense is being played. It’s why people liked Kawhi, a 2 way player. Jaylen Brown demonstrated he plays on both ends. Also credit to Jrue Holiday, he’s a silent assassin.
You have to think about the locker room. Too the Celtics as a team look at Tatum as their leader. It’s the equivalent to when Andre iguadala won finals mvp over Steph curry. He only won because of the great defense he played against lebron and him having major clutch moments but if Steph won mvp no one would of been mad about it.
JB was consistent… defended Luka great, scored when no one else was scoring and made crucial baskets… and made plays that don’t show on the stats. Tatum made most of his points when the Celtics was blowing out the Mavs. True basketball fans know JB was deserving of the MVP.
People are getting it wrong. The Finals MVP is for the best player on the winning team for the entire post season. Theres a reason why theres a normal MVP, for the regular season, then the FMVP for the best player on the best team for the entire offseason. JT might have had a better finals than JB, but JB's impact on the Celtics' finals win because of everything he did in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd series. Plus the stuff with the media only showing JT, he has kid and is more popular on social media because of his presence. And its also the fatigue from the Celtics Heat series from last year when it was shown that Jaylen couldn't really dribble with his left hand.
I disagree, steph getting double teamed freed up open shots for players like iggy and steph still managed to put up 26 6 6 while hitting clutch shots in that series
They were pushing Tatum so hard all game long, only because he’s more marketable and has the endorsement deals. I relished the sight of Jaylen holding that trophy, much deserved!
Im not a fan of neither but watching both the finals and ECF I think JT should have won both MVPs he played more minutes and averaged better numbers for both the finals and ECF….he was the best facilitator on his team and on some night the best facilitator on the floor and he was the best rebounder on his team…..JB had some memorable moments but I think overall JT was more impactful…..please don’t say JB took the test to guard or lock up Luka because Luka still got his damn numbers
An injured outta shape Luka who was too poorly conditioned to do anything in the 4th put up 29/8/6 on 47% and 58% from the FT. He had a ton of terrible shots he settled for and still did his thing. JT set all kinds of postseason age related and general records, yet the narrative is JB is the better player 😂

Jaylen brown was clearly the main reason they won this year title. When the ball was in Tatum hands and brown played backed seat they couldn’t pull it off and win the gold. THE moment Brown got the called he answered with a sign seal and delivered

Totally agree, look at the numbers Tatum averaged more points rebounds and assists. The media just decides who they do and don’t like and for whatever reason they just don’t like Tatum
Everything runs through Tatum. Led team in assists, rebounds and points. He was a bit less efficient because he draws more attention. Tatum is the team mvp
Jaylen most 100% deserved it, although the media having Jason and co more screen time than brown is very odd and disturbing considering the fact he won mvp
Brown and Tatum were pretty close on points (if I'm not wrong). But Brown's monstrous defense in the first 2 games and Tatum's inability to close off games like in game 3 makes Brown a clear winner for me.
brown earned respect wanting and locking down luka. you can hear brown telling coach if luka staying in keep me in! love that mentality wanting and demanding to guard the best and being able to to do it. i personally thought they were both gonna get it
As a mavericks fan, Brown was the better player and more consistent. I’m not saying Tatum didn’t do shit, but it’s the MVP award not a participation trophy. Brown put that work in on all their playoff runs and especially in this one! Congrata
Averaging 21/5/5 and winning FMVP? Cmon now. If the NBA was legit on this Luka would've gotten that damn trophy. He didn't even go off but neither did damn Tatum or Brown. We all saw the stat where he was the first ever to lead an NBA playoffs in PTS, REBS, ASTS, and steals.
Just your opinion, dude. Finals MVP doesn't go to who scored the most points in the last game. Jaylen Brown was consistent all through the Finals. Well deserved.
Honestly this Celtics team had so many important contributors, It was hard to pick one standout player. In my mind Jrue is the mvp. But people ghat know, know he is not the guy, never was.
Him getting the MVP would have been robbery, Brown has been the MVP through out the playoffs.
FACTS
🎯🎯🎯
Yes sir.
Trippin. Brown showed up not only the finals but the entire playoffs. Tatum went off game 7. Brown deserved it no question
Jaylen brown deserved that trophy and nobody has argued about it. Stop spreading misinformation 😂
But this time Jaylen brown was actually better than Tatum
fr bro Jaylen plays better in the playoffs
No he wasn't. This is the fallacy that JB benefits from by standing next to Tatum. I've said it for years. Tatum goes 5-15 he's crucified. Brown goes 3-12 no one notices.
Tatum outclassed him in every major stat, had more 30 pt games, scored more overall points, had more double doubles(3), had more AST with a lower TO ratio, rebounded better, made better plays and their defensive rating was exactly the same.
Brown finished the series shooting 10-35 for 31 points. He shot 7-23 in game 5 after shooting 3-12 in game 4. Game 3? He shot 2-6 in the first half while JT dropped 20 to keep it within 1 going into the 3rd. He also shot 73% from the FT line
@@dontatme__I didn't realize JT had stans like you.
@@dontatme__ Stop reaching. Assist TO ratio argument against a person who averaged less than 2 TOs? Meaningless facts
@@melvinhhcp3615 tired ass argument. Are trolls ever original anymore?
Nah bro the mvp is for who was most important in winning the finals, not just who the story surrounds. Brown was more impactful against the mavs. I gained mad respect for him
Tatum got double teamed and was the what the offense ran through
JT the better player, Brown was a lil more efficient and hit a big shot in game 3. IMO that’s why I think he the nod. Other than that Tatum was impactful everywhere.
I personally feel like the shooting percentages between Brown and Tatum plays a huge role in JB winning FMVP
Brown held Luka down a little. Brown needs his own team.
Jaylen deserved it. He performed better this playoffs
The NBA wants Tatum to be the face of the league not Brown. I didn’t know Tatum didn’t let anybody else hold the championship trophy that’s messed up
Exactly! Stop that false narrative. Jaylen brown played better, tatum has deuce he wins everyday. He should do more next time
If they wanted that, he'd have gotten the MVP
Illogical comment. Why would NBA give JB the MVP it the league wants to make JT the poster child of the NBA. Are you a man? Certainly don't think like one.
@@ViVeriVniversvmVivusVici he's probably ten
@@ViVeriVniversvmVivusViciTatum has been marketed more. That's not even debatable. JB got that award from the media, not the NBA.
The Tatum glaze + Brown disrespect makes me hate the Celtics sooo much. JB deserves so much more. It's you people that piss the f*** out of me.
Brown will go to CHICAGO 🐐🏆
ONG bro, they’ve been trying to pin them against each other for years🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
As a Celtics fan I think it could’ve gone either way, but I think Brown was 100% deserving. He made clutch shots and locked it down defensively when needed, he really was elite on both ends of the court. Stop trying to stir up the pot.
U contradicted yourself "brown was 100% deserving but it could have gone either way"
"Could have gone either way" is more like 50/50 not 100%😂😂😂
Everyone knew Jalen was getting that trophy after game 1
Ninja no. I remember vividly everyone’s reaction to KP going off. No one thought of JB tbvh.
this dude just talking.
I think it went to the right guy
No. What. Is this true? Was it weird to a lot of people? It was either JB or Jrue. Tatum did not come through at all nor did he deserve it as much as the two others. He played average, didn't even feel like he was the "main factor" all superstars are.
This ain’t nothing but light skin rage. Jaylen balled out on both ends offensively and defensively he deserves the mvp
Between you and Paul George idk who's more disappointing. But y'all doing a great job in the media. 😂😂😂😂
After game 1 of the finals I knew JB was gonna win FMVP
I knew JB was eventually gonna win fmvp after I saw the way Tatum choked in 2022.
Jaylen Brown played a very methodical game, Tatum wasn’t, just gunning sometimes. Game 5 he recovered but I wouldn’t go as far as to say he won FMVP. Brown outright deserved it
The only reason is for defense. The thing is brown is a ball hog while Tatum is a team player
The media pushed Tatum as the teams best player. Brown has shown time after time that he performs better in the big moments.
W ☝️
There’s a reason Austin Rivers ain’t in the league anymore. JB definitely deserved every piece of that award, the most consistent since they became teammates. Always carrying Tatum 💯
Jason tatum shot the worst field goal percentage in finals history
So . He did everything else and still led the team . But JB deserved it just based on impact 😂
bro Jaylen brown played better in the finals and sh Jaylen is better in the playoffs and sh Jaylen deserved the fmvp
The fact is iguodala was more valuable that series and brown was more valuable this series. Who should get the mvp? Exactly.
Finals MVP for performance in a finals series. Makes sense to me.
100% agree
I disagree, steph getting double teamed freed up open shots for players like iggy and steph still managed to put up 26 6 6 while hitting clutch shots in that series
@@johnnygallegos1966 Wrong. Again, the finals stats don't tell the whole story. Delly locked Steph down
The finals was trash, but this take was “trashier”, you played in the league and still taking this garbage
EXACTLY! I guess he needs some attention and is not getting it from DOC!😂🤣
They were pushing Tatum so hard all game long, only because he’s more marketable and has the endorsement deals. I relished the sight of Jaylen holding that trophy, much deserved!
Brown played the whole series like a true Champ! Don’t Start that mess! What’s done is done! And what’s is Won is Won! 💯!
@@dontatme__ that’s because narratives are just that….people use their emotions to defy what makes sense….there’s no way you lay out their numbers and say JB was better…..when people DO NOT like someone they will join the bandwagon and wave of hate….like I said I’m not a JT or JB fan but I love the sport and I watched every game….all emotions aside JT was the better player
@@Thevoice28 a million percent. The craziest part about it is Dallas defended JT like he was a problem. And there's no way you stick the best player on the team in a corner and have him wait for pass to get his offense off team action
This is actually stat padding what Tatum did and he was horribly inefficient. Tatum numbers were empty jrue brown and the rest of those guys played better. Everyone just wants Tatum to get it because he's linked to Kobe 😂
@@nmbmemphisbeast3690 stat padding in the finals? You're ridiculously goofy. Let me guess he was stat padding in the first half of the pivotal game 3, and stat padding in the first half of game 4. He stat padded with 2 double doubles to start the series and a near triple double right?
“Deuce got more airplay than Jaylen Brown” had me dying😂😂😂
Guess what it don’t f matter lmao, when we look back in the stats book and history, it will say jb finals mvp 🤣🤣🤣 nobody will care.
As someone who wanted mavs to win, I was way more worried about brown having the ball in his hands rather than Tatum
Jaylen brown was clearly the main reason they won this year title. When the ball was in Tatum hands and brown played backed seat they couldn’t pull it off and win the gold. THE moment Brown got the called he answered with a sign seal and delivered
Besides the last game jayson was cold and shout out to him for not forcing more shots and assisting and rebounding more. Jaylen brown was the rock and deserved that mvp. Nothing wrong with Jayson not winning the fmvp he's still a leader and a champion.
Steph Curry should not have won over Durant stop it
Jaylen Brown was the correct vote. He defended the best player & scored & assisted & reb
JB was the reason the Celtics didn't sell again like usual. JB got more of a mamba mentality than Tatum.
To make him a better player no M.V.P. FOR NOW...😢😢😢
Yall trippin im a mavs fan and even i saw how hard Jaylen brown was playing the whole series. He definitely deserved that trophy and finals mvp
People that watched the games weren’t surprised. It was well deserved for JAYLEN BROWN
Tatum deserved it. Brown got too much credit for “stopping” Luka, when bro literally led the finals in all offensive categories still…
Jaylen played better and earned it but Tatum should have got it
Im a boston fan and jt is my favorite player but jb definitely deserved it
Jaylen most 100% deserved it, although the media having Jason and co more screen time than brown is very odd and disturbing considering the fact he won mvp
Congrata
You guys are trying so hard to rip these guys apart but were so quick to praise Luka and Kyrie as the best backcourt 😂
MVP went where it supposed to Jaylin Brown played better
Just your opinion, dude. Finals MVP doesn't go to who scored the most points in the last game. Jaylen Brown was consistent all through the Finals. Well deserved.
Mavs fan here. From what I saw Brown made the bigger impact. He had huge plays on both ends, especially defense.
Bro tatum didnt do so well brown was tearing it up for the whole finals and all the playoffs the man is a BEAST
Boston fans knew it was going to J Brown before the Game began that Monday
Jb getting mvp was my favorite part of these finals
People think finals MVP just goes to the most popular player on the team
Jayson Tatum literally went 6-20 n game 3 against da mavs while he was gettin back packed by pat bev
Honestly this Celtics team had so many important contributors, It was hard to pick one standout player.
In my mind Jrue is the mvp. Celtics have been very talented for a while now, but couldn’t win a championship. With Jrue on the court, they operate so much more like a team, and I think that was the difference between this year and the last few.
Tatum had a great series but he struggled to hit shots. Jalen Brown was the most constant throughout the playoffs. Jalen was the leader of that team in the finals.
