My Grandson used to go out on this Waka, working / training / volunteering - or what ever they called it. ( he is Ngati Porou / NZ European) These young men & women worked very hard without any thanks. They were taking out Tourists, so someone was making money. When some of them approached those that were running the trips for some sort of compensation for their time and hard work, they were told that there was no money to pay them and if they didn't like it they could leave, which they did. Another case of corruption and Maori ripping of Maori, especially sad when it is the older Maori's ripping of the young Maoris. What example does this make??
It cost a million to build and it only took a year to build? doesnt add up. Who has the money? now that has run out or run away and theres no money to sail the boat. Investigate the Trust get the books.follow the money and you will find a few people made a lot of money out of the build and the first few months and then theres nothing left. Be sold to the highest bidder to pay for docking fees soon I wonder who that will be?

United we stand, divided we fall. Its a shame the passion and integrity of these teachers is being ignored.

When you get your fruit from the tree you must remember to feed the tree during the lean years when it won't bear fruit .
Was he able to teach others to keep the tradition alive like Nainoa?
Was Nainoa a Master Carver??
@@whetuification Nainoa is the second wayfinder on the Hokulea. He passes his knowledge of the stars and the sea on to the new generations
Do they ever build modern craft or are they just stuck in the passed
Did you ever learn the difference between 'past' and 'passed' ??
Is this like the North Shore Marae mess?
@@ohnean1 hahahaha!!
@@ohnean1 I reckon 😂
Lesson learned. Can’t have Māori kaupapa partnered with non-Māori Management. Maori disagree enough with our own whanau
