My grandmother’s best friend did the same thing! She only bought one serving in every pattern she liked. She bought a place setting once a year and when you were invited for dinner she’d choose a a particular setting with you in mind. It always made me feel so special when I visited. Really helped me fall in love with porcelain and I became a potter when I grew up! I am so glad someone else has the same idea.
Oh Stephanie, I am in tears over your gift from Oliver. I so appreciated my history lesson on porcelain. You truly have been a blessing to watch during my continued lockdown in Austin Texas USA. 💜🤠💐
Another excellent and informative edition of the Chateau Diaries! So sad to hear that Oliver will be leaving this week, he brings a radiant energy to the series.
What a delightful episode! The porcelain was incredible and, Stephanie, your delight was contagious! I was so impressed by the depth of your knowledge on this subject. You’re amazing!
Oliver's gift just had me crying!!! What a tremendously beautiful thing to do. There is hope for humanity and it's in France right now. Thank you, Olliver, for restoring my faith.
When I think that Stephanie can't surpass the quality of previous vlogs, here she goes again, leading us to new places of culture, beauty and fun! Thank you thank you Stephanie. along with Oliver and of course Scotman, for this wonderful insightful episode. I will watch it again and again!
Again another intelligent, interesting, fact based dialogue from Stephanie. I never thought I'd be so taken in by porcelain. Thank you Stephanie. I can't forget Oliver's input. Such a treasured friend he is. Perfect outing for his artists eye.
You are so bright and shiny when you smile! Thank you, for being so wonderful at sharing this spirit, that everyone one around you shines. You are all just as joyous as porcelain!
Wonderful--I love Limoge Porcelains. My mother had a set of white with gold rim that had been her mother's, I believe. Porcelain was always my favourite clay body to work with, as a Potter. It feels so smooth running through one's hands on the wheel. Oliver, you are so very dear, getting Stephanie a beautiful, historic plate with her favorite yellow band at the rim, and matching your favorite beautiful piece. Thank you, and much love to all the LaLanders. And Basmaignéers. The BasLaLas! 🙏🏻💗⚜️💜⚜️💗🙏🏻
I love that you make a point to use your porcelain instead of putting it behind glass! I have only received porcelain as gifts, but I would love to have a collection as well rounded as yours one day ☺️
You know it is impossible to buy some Sevres Porcelaine. It is only produce to be use by French officials. But it is possible to buy some antique Sevres pieces from the past centuries. They are so beautiful !!!!
Absolutely loved this 💛Thank you Stephanie for tagging us along. Informative, fabulous, fun & French 💋👌⚜. Enjoy your stunning gift 🍽. Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
It is so enjoyable to watch how delighted and appreciative Stephanie gets when she is receiving gifts! I wish more people in the world would show a true appreciation as she does!
I am obsessed with your channel. I am always mentioning stuff about the Chateau so much so that my family have forbid me from using the word "Chateau" ... so now I just refer to it as the french mansion 😏
This was such a wonderful treat, Stephanie. I am passionate about porcelain too. I wanted to see all your beautiful patterns. Learning about Limoge history was wonderful. I too was holding my breath when Oliver and Jerry were holding that plate. Thank you again for another great video.
I have never had an interest in porcelain, but this video has made me found a new love and interest in it. Before I would have been like....it's a plate why is it so expensive 😂 but now I can see the beauty and history in it ☺️
Stephanie, thank you for another wonderful vlog. I absolutely adore your vlogs where you educate us.... Oliver, what a wonderful friend you are to gift Stephanie with the beautiful plate. Thank you,
Stephanie, you did not disappoint. This video has been worth the wait. It makes me want to build floor to ceiling cabinets and begin collecting these wonderful plates to use and enjoy with others. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Your plan to build a collection of mismatched singles is brilliant. Thanks so much for the history lesson, factory tour, and sharing your own collection with us. Thanks to Oliver as well for his own contributions to the video and your personal collection!
Stephanie, What a beautiful treat and gift you have given us, your audience. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve had the love for porcelain. You are a treasure . Thank you for such a exquisite show.😘 Gerry and Oliver had me laughing so hard that my husband ask me what was I watching so funny.😂 Oliver what a classy gentleman.
Wow thank you so much for this tour!!! A couple of years ago I bought a set of Limoges Porcelain on an antiques market in Cannes - and didn't really understand the value until now!!! They sold it for very cheap so now I feel super lucky :D
The relief when Gerry finally put the plate down! Oliver is a darling, I adore him! I think the caliber of your friends & the way they love you truly shows what an amazing person you are Stephanie :) A wonderful episode thank you xx
Stephanie should have a historical channel. So passionate, her clear voice, knowledge and pleasant presence would make her very popular amongst us history lovers. She should be getting offers from TV channels like The History Channel imo
I could not agree more! First, she is so natural, 2nd she educates in a way that does not come off in a condescending way - its just like a great friend is telling you something, 3rd - so is so incredibly kind and POSITIVE!! I cannot think of someone who deserves success more! We love in LaLa Land where its - well, lets just say the antithesis of all that is La Lande and Stephanie- so to see such kindness and positivity- well, very refreshing, especially in such a trying time. 💐
Shannon Tymkiw Stephanie has incredible talent for relaying things back. It’s incredible & the mind boggles at how much work goes into a single vlog especially when she is relating to history of anything be it a piece of porcelain or furniture, or art or a building. Amazing person to have in our lives.
That's so strange - I just commented similar thoughts. She could do her own history channel with the way she speaks, her presence, her articulate speach...any company or a TV Channel will or should reach out to her.
Stephanie ... I haven't read all the comments so I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but ... I think the flowers on the set your parents gave you when you were 22, are Poppies. I could be wrong but Carnation leaves are straight and narrow and not too large. The flower buds also look like Poppy flower buds. :)
I looove porcelain & love Stephanie......this is a "win win" vlog ❤!!! Thank you for all your research it was so interesting. For sure I can not afford anything in the shop but this does not prevent me from admiring & appreciating beautiful pieces of art 😊❤!!!! Oliver had me shed a tear when he gifted Stephanie with the gorgeous plate. My cup runneth over with joy 💓💓!!! Je vous aime xx.
Stephanie you make topics that I wouldn’t naturally have an interest in so amusing! Your enthusiasm for history, art and beauty really shines through and I think I have a very new appreciation for porcelain. Thank you!
How lovely it was for Oliver to gift you that beautiful plate. It really is stunning. This was such a fascinating video. I loved it. Hugs Stefanie. 🤗❤️
Oh my gosh Stephanie I truly enjoyed this show. Looking forward to seeing your porcelain room in person. Thank you ever so much my Lady for making this lock down not boring. God bless you.
Hi Stephanie! Thank you so much for taking the time to do the research and make these really interesting videos. I sooo look forward to all of them. You inspired me to research my own Limoges pieces which are labeled as Theodore Haviland and Haviland and Co. My family and I are hoping to visit Lalande next summer as well as the Limoges factory and that fabulous charity shop! Love to our virtual family at Lalande from New York! Keep up the great work!👸👏
I agree with Oliver. The plates used at the wedding of your Mother and Percy are my favorite. I surprised myself I loved the Chagall plates. You did such a great job explaining the porcelain. Thank you.
O my goodness , how wonderful of Oliver to get you that gorgeous plate Stephanie ! It was a beautiful video and I thoroughly enjoyed it ! Thank you so much !!
Everything was so breathtaking. Oliver is a wonderful person and friend. Scotman is of course a treasure. The joy on your face made me tear up when Oliver gave you the plate. See ya'll soon. Thank you.
I enjoyed this immensely, thank you Stephanie and Oliver. We're in Melbourne Australia and are at the beginning of ANOTHER 6 week lockdown, so your videos are especially welcome (they always are but particularly now). x
Wow Stephanie, I feel like I have gotten a real education on the history of Limoges china. I don’t think I’ll ever look at their porcelain plates the same again. I actually was on a trip through France years ago. We stopped briefly in Limoges. I went to a small gift shop and purchased one of the little boxes. It’s a sweet little bird sitting on a nest 😊. Oliver is a lovely gentleman and he was so sweet to give you that beautiful plate as a gift. Thank you sweet lady 😘
Have watched this vlog a number of times. I'm not sure if it is my favorite but I couldn't really say it's not either. So beautiful dishes. You are so lucky to be living so close to the factory. I really look forward to your Sunday vlogs. They are not only educational but they are so enjoyable. Learning so much about France. Thank you for these wonderful "lessons".
I am a restaurant supplier and rep for quite a long list of China manufacturers. Porcelain of this quality is really never used in American Restaurants any longer because of the price. Even country clubs do not invest at this level any longer. I’m guessing one dinner plate from this factory would be $60 to $80 per plate.(retail much more) Truly it is art. I had a factory tour once of the Homer Laughlin China Co. In West Virginia USA and their artists sit at the exact foot powered spinning wheels in this vlog. They let us each do two plates each. As many rings as we wanted to. Then 2 weeks later they arrived to our homes where they had put our names in each plate’s center and fired the plates. Kind of cool. I really like bone china myself. The more bone content the more transparent the plate.
Stephanie, this has been an exceptional vlog. You can't imagine how much every minute of the work you put into this is appreciated. I opens up a whole new world! Thank you so very much!
Can’t tell you how much I’ve enjoyed this really well waiting for. You’re a genius Stephanie and it’s pure enjoyment just listening to you talk about anything and everything. More, more, more please.
This is what I whish my old history class would be like! A walk throughout history with all the examples and soo much joy for it all!! Thank you Stephanie for another wonderful video!!🥰
Thank you for this beautiful vlog! I think I like the same set that Oliver was admiring. The colors were so rich and romantic. The gorgeous plate he gifted you is so stunning. Well done, Oliver!!! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend together.

This video is my favorite type, the perfect balance of information, art and entertainment. I love that you took your time to visit the factory, research and then make an incredible video! You work so hard Stephanie. Thank you!
Such a pleasure when one receives an education in Beauty. I have pieces I haven't looked at for years from these artisans and I need to go Re-Discover my treasures. Oliver is a Rare Jewel of Friendship.... Stephanie your "Jewel of Friends " overflows.
Stephanie thank you so much for these videos that are so joyful and informative. Your enthusiasm is evident and contagious! I have learnt so much from you Sunday tutorials.
@thechateaudiaries loved this vlog and I’m quite interested in plates. I see you have a lot of the blue and white in your kitchen. Spode? I don’t know a whole lot about this kind of stuff but my grandmother did and my family is from England. She left me a lot of china that I will have to look into but I do have two blue and white plates that are very very old but they are delft. I’ve tried to look up the markings on the back but it’s hard to tell how old they are I know she told me to take very good care of them. Do you own delft? Stephanie I’m so glad I found your channel I like you very much you remind me a lot of my grandmother in personality and the way you speak. She was my favorite person in the world and when you are talking I can literally close my eyes and hear her. It brings me a lot of joy. 💛
Oh Steph - that was amazing. Your enthusiasm and information was fantastic. You make everything so accessible to us porcelain novices. I don't know how you manage it but you make every piece so important to you. That sure is what having a passion means. You have me hooked me and I didn't think that was possible.
you have such a joyful and enthusiastic way in sharing these delightful treasures. Thank you, Stephanie! And loooooooove the plate Oliver gifted you. It's gorgeous and so perfect for you and Lalande!
Great job Stephanie and Oliver, so interesting. I love how you’re not afraid to use these beautiful pieces of art. That’s how to live in the now for sure. 💕 My favourite plates are also the plates Isabel and Percy chose for their wedding day. Thank you Ollie for zooming in on the patterns. Ahh the Art Deco, my mouth was literally agape and touching gift to Steph Oliver 👏
I know so little about the history of porcelain. That was fascinating! My grandmother loved to paint China. It isn’t famous but it is lovely and we treasure it because it was her outlet of creativity.
I'm awestruck, what a brilliant vlogumentary. Well done and thank you Stephanie Scotman and Oliver and of course Bernardaud, Limoges. How generous of Bernardaud to allow you to film.
My grandmother’s best friend did the same thing! She only bought one serving in every pattern she liked. I absolutely love that idea! I always do that with mugs when people come around for tea or coffee, but this has inspired me to go a step further 😄
What a lovely story, Joy.
THAT is inspiring and genius. I hope u don't mind if I borrow the idea
Ohhh will definitely too this! Lovely!
What a wonderful tradition! I love that!
Your historical research, captivating articulate commentary and versatility in your vlogs is masterful Stephanie.
I think her passion is what elevates it that extra little step 😍 lovely to watch
Perfectly said !!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
... we know she is a trained Opera singer...😏 aren’t we the luckiest ! 😁
Well said 🙏🏼
Oh Stephanie, I am in tears over your gift from Oliver. I so appreciated my history lesson on porcelain. You truly have been a blessing to watch during my continued lockdown in Austin Texas USA. 💜🤠💐
...and that darling gift plate was encircled with yellow, her favorite color! Well done Oliver ol' friend, well done!
Stephanie - I hope the BBC are watching - you deserve your own series! How kind Oliver is and what a lovely friend!
Another excellent and informative edition of the Chateau Diaries! So sad to hear that Oliver will be leaving this week, he brings a radiant energy to the series.
I laughed so hard when you were both stressing out with Gerry handling the gold plate.
Got to have a bit of excitement Susan 💝🏋️♂️🏋️♂️
Me too that was and he knew it !! Which made it even funnier
Susan suecooper : Don’t you just love Gerry. He puts joy back into everything.

Hi Stephanie. Thank you for taking the time to make this wonderful history lesson for us. You are a joy to watch and listen to. Be well.
I love that you make a point to use your porcelain instead of putting it behind glass! I have only received porcelain as gifts, but I would love to have a collection as well rounded as yours one day ☺️
I’d love for this episode to be accompanied by Stephanie’s tips on buying secondhand / thrift shop porcelain...what to look for, value, etc.
You know it is impossible to buy some Sevres Porcelaine. It is only produce to be use by French officials. But it is possible to buy some antique Sevres pieces from the past centuries. They are so beautiful !!!!

I'm with Oliver, Marc Chagalls work is so whimsical and wonderful. Love the plates of his.

I can not express how much I loved this visit to Limoges. I saw the rosebud pattern on which I used to eat. How delightful.
I enjoyed this immensely, thank you Stephanie and Oliver. We're in Melbourne Australia and are at the beginning of ANOTHER
6 week lockdown, so your videos are especially welcome (they always are but particularly now). x
This girl is simply amazing , you can watch her talk for hours, and I’m usually bored by people teaching me something 😂

So glad Oliver surprised you, I think you are the best person to give gifts to 💜 watching your joy is a gift for everyone
What a wonderful tour you gave us!! Thank you! I Now I love Limoges even more!
Fabulous place. Oliver very kind getting you that beautiful plate
Stephanie, this has been an exceptional vlog. You can't imagine how much every minute of the work you put into this is appreciated. I opens up a whole new world! Thank you so very much!
Thank you for telling us about making porcelain. I will never regret the cost again after learning about the process.
So enjoyed the interesting tidbits of this gorgeous porcelain. Thank you again Stephanie & Co😊
Steph all of your friends are wonderful I love Oliver he’s so enthusiastic and kind what a lovely man. Xx
Thank you so much Stephanie, so therapeutic to watch all that beauty and I am discovering so much x
Once again a wonderfully eloquent presentation of superb research. Brava Stephanie, and with Gerry and Oliver it’s great fun
I spent the summers with my grandmother on her farm in Kentucky when I was a teenager. She had two set's of china, one Blue willow and the other Haviland, and a full service of sterling silver. When I was younger, before I was a teenager, she only used the china and silver for special occasions, holidays, birthdays, etc., but as she got older we started using them everyday. It was lovely!
This video is my favorite type, the perfect balance of information, art and entertainment. I love that you took your time to visit the factory, research and then make an incredible video! You work so hard Stephanie. Thank you!

What a wonderful episode! The tour of the factory and the history you gave was just the best part of my day❤️
It's 17 minutes past four... but I couldn't sleep again until I had watched...❤️❤️

Thank you... loved seeing this. And your utter excitement at Oliver's gift x
This is my favorite format, your history lectures. Plus, you always doll up for these.
Being a Potter myself you have no idea how interesting that was. Thank you for sharing these bits of history with us that is why we love you so much
you have such a joyful and enthusiastic way in sharing these delightful treasures. Thank you, Stephanie! And loooooooove the plate Oliver gifted you. It's gorgeous and so perfect for you and Lalande!
Great job Stephanie and Oliver, so interesting. I love how you’re not afraid to use these beautiful pieces of art. Well this was absolutely delightful! I would absolutely LOVE to read a book on all of the historical designs and the stories behind them.
That was spectacular! Thank you!! Oliver is so charming!!!
This was so awesome! Thanks you guys! Also, Jerry and all three of you had me laughing so hard! Jerry really is hysterical sometimes!
I know so little about the history of porcelain. That was fascinating! My grandmother loved to paint China. It isn’t famous but it is lovely and we treasure it because it was her outlet of creativity.

Stephanie, yet again another wonderful informative vlog! Beautiful!
I love the conversations you and your friends have around art.
I'm awestruck, what a brilliant vlogumentary. Well done and thank you Stephanie Scotman and Oliver and of course Bernardaud, Limoges. How generous of Bernardaud to allow you to film.
