2:25 for real how can anyone choose one?
easy.... normaly before i choose, i take a glance at my wallet.
Hi Anna. The small snail u saw is called Siput. Put it in a separate bowl or can just put it in ur plate. How to eat it? U suck it. But the end part normally u dont eat. Normally its coconut sauce is very nice to mix a bit wt ur rice. Dont be afraid to put any sauce in ur rice. Normally , they wont charge just for the sauce. Enjoy❤ from Mazliza@ NorthPoint Ampang
Anna, I think the one u didnt like is grilled petai. Ur not suppose to eat the outer skin. You open it and just eat the petai seed inside😂
@@MagicPro9 thank you so much for your suggestions 🙏
Fyi, normally prawns/udang and squid/sotong are bit pricey. Ur ikan bakar stingray maybe around rm12.? Dont be afraid to ask the griller the price of the different fish available. Enjoy ur stay here. U guys shud migrate here. I think youll love it here like I do.❤
I suggest you to ask some local there how to eat our local food. So u can 'eat like local' & enjoy our local food more.
Thank you for watching
Another tips when eat Nasi Campur.. pour gravy to your rice 😁
Will try that 🫶🙏
That bean you can't eat is petai. You are supposed the eat only the bean inside and discard the pod/skin. It is also known as stink(y) beans as it has a strong smell. It is very good for the kidney and urinary tract. The wrinkly veg is peria katak or mini bitter gourd. The one you forgot the name is Okra or ladies fingers.
That restaurant has an amazing selection of local food. I am hungry!
We’re trying the bean again without the pod. Thank you Net for sharing 🫶 What’s your favourite in a restaurant like this?
@@dananna8614 I goes bananas with place like this, you could try different things everyday. nasi campur cant go wrong (mix economy rice).
@@dananna8614 ⚠️ Your pee will smell different once you've digested the beans 😉 ⚠️
actually the pod can be eat too.. but not many like it
The beans that you disliked was petai. You are supposed to open it up to eat the beans inside together with the sambal belacan(spicy sauce) that is placed near all the greens. It is an acquired taste item, but it's good for your kidney's wellbeing.😅👌
Thats awful 😂🤦♀️they should ask people there how to eat it, not with its skin😂😂😂🤦♀️🤭❤️🇲🇾
Will peel them next time 😊
Petai = stinky beans...... Me as a malaysian also can't eat the beans lol.... It is an aquired taste

Apa hal kau ni lawak btul
The food orange colour sauce is curry or gulai.
The yellow colour sauce is masak lemak.
The red colour sauce is sambal tumis. Some cook with meat and some cook with fish.
The last food that you didn't like is "petai". You don't like it because you eat the skin. Petai skin cannot eat. You should open that skin to get petai inside. Its delicious, seriously. You should try it one more time
So nice food. Will eat stinky beans again 😉
@@dananna8614 Thank you. Its okey if you not eat that stinky bean again😄. But if you will, hope you will know how to open it😊. Once again enjoy your visits and hope you enjoy being here in Malaysia😎

Will do that next time 🫶
Salted egg as flavour enhancer.....to mix with rice & other dishes ....
🙏🫶
I love this channel so much😊
Thank you, thank you 🙏
gentle remind .. most of Malay side dish (lauk) or vegetables the best way to enjoy it is to eat with main dish (rice) and you can combine with your other side dish with the amount or every dish you will decided yourself. If the side dish is too salty.. then you need to take a bit and so on. thats how we eat our nasi campur (mixed rice)
Thank you for your help 🙏
Siakap = Seabass / Baramundi. Those snails is Cerithidea obtusa. You need to suck from iether end by force. Taste good either cook in coconut milk or in chilli fry.
If you don't like your plate overload or messy, you can take another plate & fill it up with your choice or a bowl if it's soup dish. You don't have to heap it on top of your rice. That way, you get to taste enjoy more dishes.
The one Ana doesn't like is stinky beans or better known is petai. It can be prepared either by roasting it or like the salted egg, brine it in vinegar & salt. The smell can kill you though😂😂 but we common folks love the taste of stinky beans
Thank you so much 😊
One of the problem living in malaysia, cannot choose what to eat , too many choice 😅
Sooo hard 😂😀 how do you do it Abang?
@@dananna8614take it slow.. try new dish everytime😂😂😂
Next time when you eat mixed rice, if there are many side dishes you want to take, you can put the side dish you want on another plate.. If everything is on the same plate, you will also have a hard time if you want to eat because your plate is full of side dishes...
We will do that, thanks 🙏
Hello Dan Anna when you go to try nasi campur or ikan bakar you must asked them how to eat ikan bakag with the sauce and your rice you need to put a little sauce or kuah for more better.I hope you can explore so much much more Malay food and you will enjoy the all of foods.
Yes we have so much to learn about this food.
Please research on the PETAI. You have to open the bean inside, then eat it by itself or with sambal belacan. It is called stink bean in English.

3 out of 10 Malaysians like it. For me, I can even eat it raw just by itself. It's like addicted to ...you know 🤣
Thank you 🙏
For me I just can eat the stinky bean or petai with it skin...with some sambal and rice... commonly people just peel it and eat the bean inside.
I LIKE MUCH2 PETAI.
For the vegetables, should have taken some of the sauces to go with it. Malay kind of salad.
🫶🙏
Like I said, if you want to enjoy Malay nasi campur have to eat it like the Malays do, i.e. use hand especially right hand..behind you there are sinks that you can wash your hands before and after eating.. you don't have to worry and don't be shy..😁
The green vegetable is not a spinach but it's called Pucuk Manis with sweet potatoes, you have to choose carefully the winged beans otherwise you'll get the old one..😁 We don't eat salted eggs like that..they should be mixed with the rice.. it's too salty man..! ha ha..
The price is reasonable as it in the city of Kuala Lumpur.. 👍☺️
We eat, we try, we do it again 🙏🫶❤️😀

You must be overwhelmed by the sheer variety of choices there in the restaurant. They are all look very tasty and tempting anyone to take everything at a go. But that is quite impossible. So idea of enjoying food at nasi campur restaurant is to come back again the next day, and the next and so on. Each day that you come to the restaurant you take different dishes than previously taken. By doing that you get to taste all of it without put a burden on your tummy. And you get to enjoy it every day until all the dishes tested out.
That's how most the local did it.
Thank you for your advice, but hard when you want to try different restaurants 😂
that green vegetables goes with sambal guys, you have to dip it in sambal, at 6:35 there's 3 different types of sambals to choose from, that petai (stinky bean) is bitter because you didn't dip it with sambal, it will taste super delicious with sambal. just remember whenever you see green vegetables around that look like it's not been cooked, there's always sambal nearby to eat it with.
Will try that next time ☺️
this is how u guys eat nasi campur and its the correct way too...please take a lot of dishes food as possible cos i like to see u eat a lot...if can try each and all the food...at least take 4 plates with full of food

The first vegetable that Anna had (which she liked) is called sweet leaf (Sauropus androgynus) or locally known as cekur manis. The (overly bitter bean that shouldn’t be eaten with the skin) petai is an acquired taste 😂 Ikan bakar literally means grilled fish and that includes stingray. The fish mentioned earlier by the guy who gave you the stingray; siakap is a local seabass. The ladies finger (okra) that you had wasn’t so good because the older and bigger it is, the more fibrous it is. But this place seems nice. May I know the name of this restaurant?
Gerak restaurant, Arif told us in the comments, so delicious food. Thank you Vincent for your support ❤️

@@dananna8614 is typical for Malays to smoked or BBQ. Taste good for that. Not for curry or anything else 😅
Siakap ikan bakar .. you cant go wrong. Ikan pari or sting ray sometimes the meat is a bit tough.
Find fresh siakap, like at a fishing jetty. The meat is even better.
The swamp snails.. you're supposed to suck the meat out with your mouth. You should try next time.. good luck.
@@dananna8614 recommended if you like fish 👍 I suggest you learn the names type of fish in Malay to suit your choices
Haha..no one taught him how to eat. most food in Malaysia, must be paired, mixed, mixed before eating. Then you can taste the deliciousness of the food. The first thing he ate was petai. Petai should be peeled before eating as a side dish. Grilled fish also needs to be seasoned with sambal. Eat everything with rice. Then feel the pleasure, the delicacy. Next time should be like that. Great video sharing. Welcome to Malaysia.🙏😃
Thank you for watching
Most of the "greens" you have on your plate, people eat it for their medicinal properties rather than the taste.
We don't have "salad' in our culture, but we have "ulam".
Ulam is the raw vegetables/plants/leaves we eat as a side dish...
Nasi = rice
Lauk = any kind dishes with cooked protein and vegetables, usually cooked with gravies/soups/sauces meant to flavour the rice.
Ulam = explained above
Sambal = kinda like dips, stuffs that give extra kick, heat, and/or flavour the whole thing on your plate.
And then we have condiments like kicap (soy sauce), budu (anchovies sauce), cencalok (shrimp sauce), etc.
There's only 1 rice, but there are many kinds of lauks, ulams, sambals, and condiments.
There... that's Malay Rice Meal 101 short course for you.
Thank you so much for telling us about this, we love Malaysian food, it has so much to offer us and we learn as we go along 🫶❤️

The raw vegetables Malaysian call "ulam" normally we eat it with sambal belacan (shrimp pace + chillies) or sambal tempoyak (fermented durian + chillies)

You should eat the Petai ( stinky bean )with sambal belacan n you don't have to eat the skin....
Kombinasi yang padu tu,
@@dananna8614 The dipping sauce for Stingray is 'Air Asam'(Tamarind juice mixed with sliced chillies, onions, tomato & a bit of coarse sugar) & 'Cili/Sambal Kicap'(Soy sauce mixed with sliced chillies, onion, lime/calamansi juice & a bit of coarse sugar)..
The Sting Ray dish in Malay is, called "ikan Pari bakar"!!!😋

Simple
But the you can eat it if you know about Malay food are. Its about combination

love to see you guys enjoying malaysians food...most of the side dish normally malaysian eat it with rice,
example - 1 spoon of rice with 1 bite of fish that you dip in chili sauce or sambal.
- the ulam or the greens like petai that you dont like the first ulam that you eat,you need to dip it in sambal belacan and eat it with rice, eat it raw will taste bitter and smells aweful 😅 that apply to all ulam or greens then only it will taste better..the combination is everything like the grill stingray it serve with air asam and chili ketchup, its the sauce..by dipping the stingray meat in the sauce only you get the perfect taste of it. 😁

Anna, ikan is Fish. Bakar is grill. So ikan bakar means Grill Fish. Stingray is called PARI in Malay.
Note: grill fish is eaten wit sauce. You take the meat and dip in sauce example Assam Sauce (Tamarind cili sauce) or the Black Soya Sauce with cili. The cilis are usually very hot spicy because they use birds eye cili padi small cilis. The salads/greens too are eaten with the Sambal Belacan sauce usually next to the greens or in the stone pestle bowls.
The okra or brinjals is known as BENDI in malay. The wing beans (Four Angle Beans) is kachang botor

Hi DanAnna, The grilled fish is grilled stingray, here we called it IKAN PARI BAKAR. It should be dipped into the gravy/sauce given called sambal then you put it on the rice and have it together. For the beans that you took, those are stinky beans or petai should be taken with rice and the fish just the way you eat lungs and liver. The same goes with the lettuce, cucumber, lady's finger, and the bitter gourd you take. Everything should be taken together with rice and sambal. That's why most Asian eat rice using hand making it easy to scoop. You guys should try to come to the north of Malaysia to Penang, Kedah, and Perlis. Also, try the east coast to Kelantan and Terengganu rather than being in Kuala Lumpur.
Thank you so much for sharing this information and for watching the video ❤️🫶
