  • The Baikal MP-18 single shot shotgun (imported by USSG) seems to be a good break action shotgun for it's price range.

    good video buddy. i bought an mp-18 in .410 ga., a couple of years ago, and have it stoked for home defense. i have practiced with it a few times, quick reloads, etc., and it's a fun weapon to go boom with. no regrets on the purchase. keep up the good work.
    carry on!!

    Enjoyed your review and yes, I agree...with the various adapters, mine makes a perfect truck gun. I have a Turkish made one. Also decent quality, with the composite stock, butt is hollow, have a fire kit, micro cleaning kit and 2 extra shells stored in it. In a separate chest pack I have the adapter set, small flashlight, survival blanket, and multi tool stored, as well as additional rounds. Also have a 5 shell holder on the butt, a butt cushion and attached led flashlight, penlight style on mine. Also a sling for hiking with it. In an emergency, if I must leave my truck, I will be armed and ready to survive a couple of days as I work my way home!

    The first gun my dad gave me was a single shot. I have many fond memories of hunting quail, woodcock and ruffed grouse with him. He has passed away now but I still have the gun, though when I throw the little thing to my shoulder it's a little like shooting a pistol! Thanks for bringing back some good times.

    a single shot shotgun is a must have for anyone who has firearms if you ask me.If I'm not mistaken they have the least amout of moving parts of any firearm.I have a 20 gauge H&R that I will never sell.They are getting harder to find these days.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  8 років тому

      Yes they are a must have for sure. My dad kept an old H&R around the house when I was growing up. I learned to shoot it and it taught me to make that shot count. Good to hear from ya man.

    Very nice. I have the same one. I got it almost 2 years now and just love it. I find myself always going back to it. I also picked mine up from bud's. My dad shot clays with it and also fell in love with how it fits in your hand's and sits on the shoulder. Like i said iv had mine almost 2 years but have not even swaped out the bead so im looking forward to seeing what your doing to yours. By the way your blueing looks better then mine. Mine looks like it got blued over rest and has a slightly brown tint to it in the sun but iv also put over 500 rounds trou it and put meat on the table with out ever worrying about anything going wrong with it. Great pick on your part way better gun and with a way better price point then the way over rated H&R.

      Thanks. I'm with you in the opinion that these are one of the best deals on a qaulity single shot shotgun around. I will be posting another video this winter to show what all I've done to mine. Some people will hate it some will love it......just like anything else in life. I appreciate you watching and leaving the feedback, stick around the channel for future videos on this shotgun.

    The Baikal and the Beretta 412 (with many clones from Turkey and Effebi) are the best single shot designs IMO. If you want ejectors go with the Baikal, if not, the fold in half design of the Beretta 412 is very practical.

    Если точнее то мр 18ЕМ-М. У меня такое же только ствол длиннее 725 мм и постоянный чок. Эжектор снял, охотнику он не нужен, указатель взвода курка поменял на металлический, УСМ запилил, подточил, мушку поставил латунную, цевье и приклад обклеил комуфляжной клейкой лентой (что бы лицо на обжигал пластик). Получилась сказка, охочусь в экстремальных температурах от -30-50 град. заполярным кругом, на куропатку, зайку. Патроны к ружью для разных охот делаю сам.

    The simplicity of a single shot...amazing how it slows the shooter down requiring them to concentrate more on target and trigger and overall control...not to mention the FUN FACTOR! Buffalo have you ever done a video on the use of a rifle/hand cartridge adaptor for a shotgun? This sounds interesting. Nice video!

    • @buffalosoutdoors

    A single barrel shotgun that has some interesting features. That extractor/ejector deal is good, though perhaps unnecessary? Its kinda sad to see companies like H&R cease manufacture of their single barrel shotguns and rifles and it seems only foreign companies want to make such a thing now.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  8 років тому +1

      Agreed, for my purposes I will most likely never use extractor option though I could see where some would like it, especially if they shot at a trap range.

    I have 3 Baikal mp18's. 1 in .223 and 2 in 12ga. one of the 12ga Baikal barrels is chopped down to 18.5" so I can use it as a pack gun/spare survival gun. it weighs less than 4lbs and I have a wood for end on it to add weight. lol.
    my favorite is the .223. with the right loads I can hit out to 1k yards. it gets boring shooting steel at my local 600 yard range with it lol.
    it's always a head turner too because of its pencil thin barrel and simple break action operation.

    • @buffalosoutdoors
      @buffalosoutdoors  7 років тому

      NIce, this one is currently undergoing some changes. I am shortening it's barrel to 18.5 inches and giving it a makeover with a new finish. How do you like your short barreled version? I am curious since this one will be that way. I'm gonna pick up some short lane adapters for .22, 9mm and .45 acp as well.

    Having trouble with misfires....and understand I'm not the only one. Not even a dent in the primer at times even after re-cocking and squeezing the trigger sometimes up to 4 times. When I break the gun open and then close it after a misfire I can get it to fire more consistently than just cocking and trying again. It is a better balanced weapon than my NEF/H&R single shots but not nearly as reliable. Cocking the hammer before firing is not that inconvenient especially since in over 46 years of shooting H&R or NEF single shots I've never had a single failure to fire. I was going to use my Baikal with modified choke as an all around camp security and small game harvesting weapon for prospecting as it does shoot a fairly accurate slug out to 75 yards with just a bead and then with some squirrel shot it hammers small game fairly well but with just one shot and grizz and mountain lion where I camp, I want my one and only shot, a Brenneke Magnum Crush slug to come ripping out when I pull the trigger. These idiots that pass for gunsmiths here won't even take a look at it so it will be reserved for shooting at doves, quail, rabbit and squirrel in situations where I won't have to rely on it to save my life.

      I still have this one and haven't had any issues yet but I will keep a close eye on it. I don't tend to hang on to guns that don't work. I like the H&R shotguns, every one I've ever shot has worked as advertised. So far this Baikal is doing the same. If it starts giving me problems I won't hesitate to post an updated video addressing such. I would never steer anyone toward a gun that didn't work for me. Thanks for bringing your issues to the attention of myself and others reading the comments section. When I do a video on a firearm folks need to understand that I only have that one sample (in most cases).

      Hi! Such a misfire can be when not until the end of the closed bracket of the platoon. Before the shot, finger press it until it stops. Perhaps the reason in this. I wish you good shots!

    I bought one of these a few yrs ago In 12ga and love it my only complaint with it was the break lever behind the trigger guard would scratch my hand when it recoiled but I put a small piece of rubber hose over it and problem solved was gonna buy 20ga also but thanks to Obama they're no longer imported

      I haven't noticed the lever scratching my hand but if it does I'll know what to do, thanks for the tip.

    add in a couple of chamber adapters, in popular calibers? & throw in a few reloadable brass shells (with supplies, primers & powder) & it could be 'The Best LONG term SHTF gun, ever!!!

      Awesome idea. Certainly would be a great "stay alive" gun as far as putting food in the belly.

    I miss being able to get Baikal over and unders. Those guns are tanks. I still have my Baikal coach gun though. Washington needs to come off that embargo shit with the Russians, it's useless. They need to stop pretending the arms embargo is because they care about Ukraine, because they really don't. The need to admit it's really all about keeping those evil AKs and Saiga shotguns out of the hands of the American People.
