This was an amazing episode, also a very emotional one for me🥺The ending hit me a lot harder than I could've ever expected, aside from having grown to really love Henry and Sam, it hit close to home for me. Getting to see the "bloater" was really cool, that thing was horrifying! Low key was happy to see Kathleen get what she deserved though, she was a terrible human being. I hope you enjoy my reaction🙏
Yes, an amazing episode. I loved the interaction between Ellie and Sam. It was so genuinely sweet and beautiful, seeing two kids get to be kids. Seeing Ellie get to be like a big sister to Sam amidst all this horror and misery around them. And seeing Joel becoming even more of a Father again was so nice. And, also, watching Joel be an Angel on their shoulders in the middle of that nightmare scenario. Epic badassery. The 'bloater' was absolutely scary as hell. Armor plated and super strong. Not sure what has to happen to bring one down. I was hit hard with the ending too. Not just by the episode but by your reaction as well. I'm still sending good vibes and hugs. This was Gold again Lauren.💛 Thank you for watching with us. Peace and love and lots of positive energy🙏❤. I'm out,
That huge infected was terrifying
So sorry to hear that you've experienced this kind of loss... It's so hard. Love the authenticity of your reactions, as always. I really enjoy your channel. Be safe and be well. ❤️
I really love your reaction to this episode Lauren Your hair looks great🖤 how's your dog doing?
I agree with you about Kathleen She was horrible And the way the child that jump on her so fast was not expected I still like The Actress because she was in my favorite show two and a half men And I love your reaction to the Bloater big one was incredible And Lauren I am so so sorry about Henry and Sam You're literally crying After Henry shot himself💔 afterwards you cried more it really hit you really hard Lauren 🥺😭 your tears made me cry with you to My friend ❤👌🏽
What an amazing series this is. Tugging at your heart strings every week. Can't wait for the next episode. 👏🍀🍀
one detail i realized the next day was that the reason Sam didn't immediately attack Ellie when he turned is because he was deaf. He only attacked Ellie once she touched him
He was facing away from her too. Someone else pointed this out, he made a conscious decision to face away from her so that he wouldn’t notice her and therefore attack her when he turned.
when it comes to emotional gut punches, this show just doesn't let up
This series continues to get heavier and heavier with each episode. It's so well done. The ending of the episode along with your real, raw, genuine reaction hit me in the feels.
the way he called out for sam yet there was only a pool of blood, he was in denial at first, he never reached the point of acceptance.
Fun fact: Adam Basil, the actor who played the Bloater in this Episode is 6'6 Foot Tall (1.95 cm), and the full Bloater suit weight is at least 80 Pounds (40 Kg).
It has been progressively harder to watch scenes of death, some more so than others. My father pass away from Covid a year ago. Since I found him, it's a day I will never forget and has haunted my memories since. I also know what it's like to lose someone to them ending themselves. Mental health is something I hold dear since I too deal with it. It's a hard road, but I endure. Other reasons the ending hit pretty hard, I had genuinely hoped that Ellie's blood would have helped Sam's infection. After seeing him just sitting motionless on the bed, I could feel the dread. But what hit the hardest was seeing Ellie endure the attack from the infected Sam, witnessing his death, and then witnessing Henry take his own life. I could only imagine what that would feel like to endure that experience happening in front of you.
I'm so sorry to hear that that bad shit's happened to you Lauren. A relative of mine came back from serving in Lebanon and he just couldn't go on after that to keep it short and spare details
Has anyone else picked up on the eerie and heartbreaking foreshadowing early on in the episode when Dr. Edelstein says to Henry "The tunnels? Why go to the trouble. You can kill yourself right here." when Henry mentioned about escaping through the tunnels (because of the infected known to be underground)? It made it that much more tragic when Henry takes his own life after he shoots Sam. Your reaction was both great and heartbreaking, Lauren. Sending hugs.
If you've played the game you know and let me tell you it doesn't help at all, this hurts every time. A testament to the writing. Brilliant episode.
This one definitely caught me with my guard down. I didn't expect Henry & Sam to be new series regulars, but to be around a bit longer, my heart sunk when I saw Sam's bite.
That ending scene of Joel and Elie walking away reminded me of how The Incredible Hulk 70's TV series always ended. David Banner walking away with that sad piano music.
Ive lost multiple people from suicide and I already knew what was gonna happened to this episode but it still hits a lot. Thank you for sharing your story and for your awesome reactions! Subbed!
I love how you catch the same things I do and zoom in on the same moments I loved ❤. Especially Sam’s sad little face when he learned the doctor was probably killed 😢
This show is so well done. The action is exciting, the story is heavy and emotional and it looks incredible. They're knocking it out the park every week. It's damn near perfect!
I'm sorry to hear about your losses. I too have lost some friends this way. This episode realy hit me hard, even though I knew what was going to happen from the game. Seeing it acted out by real people in such an incredibly believable way gives it a whole other feel regardless. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's sad, yet good to know there's others who lived through the same kind of trauma I have, without giving up or loosing hope. I'm looking forward to seeing your next reaction. You are awesome! 🤘😉
This is the most genuine reaction I've ever seen on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing this reaction with us.
You had the exact same reaction of Ellie at the Henry scene. That says something about how incredibly good Bella Ramsey is as an actress
You’re not alone. I have lost at least one friend that I know who took his own life. I’m still not over, losing him, and you really made me feel like I had somebody who could relate to what I was going through. Thank you.
If you played the game and know what's coming its almost worst because you expect it to happen, but what the game doesn't do nearly as good as the show is to bond you with the character so much more. Kevionn Woodard did a wonderful job as Sam. Every look every expression, every sign. He brought out the big brother in me and to lose him hurt so damn much. This was tough.
*HUGS*
Even having played the game and knowing this was coming, EVEN no having lost anyone myself that way, that ending broke me. I hate that Sam's last moments weren't with his brother, even though nobody knew they were his last moments, but I love that his last moments WERE full of love. As briefly as they all knew each other, you could tell that Ellie already had a good measure of love for Sam, and vice-versa, with how quickly they bonded and how much he trusted her to show her he'd been bitten, and how easily he reached out to her for comfort with his "is it still you inside?" message. Keivonn Woodard has a VERY bright career ahead of him if he chooses to pursue acting.
That big boi that came out of the ground after the flood is called a Bloater, because they've been infected so long that their bodies have bloated with growth, and they're nigh unkillable because the growth acts like a kind of armour. The way it killed Perry is an iconic Bloater kill from the games, so it was kind of beautiful that they gave that death to Perry since the guy who played him - Jeffrey Pierce - voices Tommy in the games.
All in all, this was yet another brilliantly written, brilliantly adapted episode with the few changes they made from the game making perfect sense for a TV show, condensing a pretty long arc from the games, and IMO they made some amazing casting choices. Especially casting Melanie Lynskey against type as Kathleen.
This episode is another reminder of how brutal and unforgiving this world is, regardless of who you are. Something as simple as running across a group of infected has catastrophic effects to deal with and even doing the right thing has consequences.
It’s no wonder Joel closed his heart off in the first place. The quicker you get attached to someone, the more likely you are to lose them.
And not even just the more likely you are to lose them, but the more it hurts when you DO lose them. Like, if Joel & Ellie had come across someone other than Henry & Sam, maybe just 'regular' deserters from Kathleen's people, they likely wouldn't have been fazed by losing them.
Now KC as fallen just 11 days after they took down FEDRA 🤦🏻. The infected will go to the city, it's late night, the QZ doors are open, she said it, "don't mess with fate"… love your reactions 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Everyone complains and makes fun of Joel... Until the shooting starts, then it's all "help us, save us".
There's a reason he's still alive after 20 years in the post apocalypse. The people making fun of him might want to consider that from time to time.
I am currently watching all of the episodes now! but watching your reaction to Episode 5 wehhh made me so emotional!
I figured some infected were coming out of that hole, but that was insane.
A good story can make us face aspects of ourselves and consecutively bring so much emotional response from us has viewers, it was lovely to see your reaction, thank you for sharing with us, keep strong
your outros are great. you put a lot of effort into it and it shows. the best on youtube? i don't know, but one of the best? definitely 👍🏼
Great reaction. This episode is definitely a rough one. Even having played the game and know it's coming...it still hits the feels like a truck.
The irony of Kathleen saying "kids die all the time", and then being killed by a kid who wasn't saved.
There was a ton of irony and hypocrisy in what she said to Henry, "Kids die all the time...the whole world doesn't revolve around him". Yet her entire world revolves around her brother and killing tons of innocent people to get "justice" for her brother. She was a mess to say the least. She really should've taken her brothers advice and practiced forgiveness, might've saved her life and tons of others. We'll never know.
Great episode and great reaction from him
Seeing your reaction to Henry's death hits actually quite hard. I remember watching one gamer who played the game years ago (known as "Darkness" I believe) who had lost a brother to suicide...and his reaction to the game scene mirrored yours. While I've never lost anyone to such means, I have nearly lost one, but I can't imagine that pain...and I lament for you.
I watch a lot of reactors. Mainly of stuff I've watched. I came across your page/account through Left for Dead. Watched from episode 1 till now (and going) and I can confidently say you're doing great. How you show/express emotion, the commentary, the editing, etc is top-notch. Following. Also, love your ink
❤❤ for you. I hope the pain eases. Take care of yourself.
This show is phenomenal. Thank you so much for another amazing reaction Lauren.
A subtlety I want to point out here, is Henry's last moment. Joel and Ellie seeing him do that is already pretty shocking, but Henry may have been looking right at Ellie as he pulled the trigger.
So not only does she feel bad for not being able to save Sam, and for not keeping her promise to stay up all night, she has to live with seeing Sam's father figure stare into her eyes as he offs himself.
You *know* that poor girl has to be wondering if Henry blamed her.
I think he was looking past Ellie at Sam’s body. The realisation that he killed the person he was supposed to protect, and as he had said before he had never killed anyone (although he feels responsible for Michael’s death, he wasn’t the one to actually kill him), so for the first person that he killed to be his kid brother, I think he was looking at Sam to be the final image burned into his eyes as a kind of punishment to himself.
Bella’s acting when Ellie witnesses Henry shoot himself is haunting. You really feel her shock and terror
Phenomenal as always. Your beautiful voice makes people have a great day. You are amazing Lauren.
This reactions is getting even better
It's seems like that i can feels what you're feeling when you are watching
Really fun 😎💛
Most heart-breaking thing for me about Sam turning. Is that while he sat up awake, he put his back to Ellie. He likely turned a while before Ellie woke up, but because he's deaf, had no reason to turn around.
Thank you for sharing and it hits deep inside.
Hi Lauren hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤️
was looking forward to your reaction
I was also shocked and devastated at the end….I was happy at the idea of all 4 going to wyoming together.
Bloater yay! 😁👍
Sam and Henry..naaaaay..😭
Sometimes being game accurate is a mixed blessing.
Lauren is phenomenal . She one of best in the world.
F-Kathleen is right
Love your genuine reaction and appreciate you sharing personal feeling and insight.
I liked that episode, but it was stressful.
Kathleen was a total heartless sociopath.
The minute Joel and Ellie drove into Kansas city Kathleen and her people just assumed they were the enemy and immediately attacked them unjustly.
Melanie Lynskey's performance made it very easy to hate Kathleen.
I'm very sad for Henry and Sam.
If only saving Sam was as easy as putting Ellie's blood on the bit.
It was so heartbreaking to see the utter devastation on Henry's face.
One small criticism: Clickers can't see yet with all that noise and chaos they came out of that hole and ran straight at everyone. That makes no sense. However I think the large fungi monster could see. It's clearly a serious mutation because from what we know the orginal human host is slowly consumed by the fungi and not smart. Yet this one is larger, stronger and likely can see.
It also seemed cognizant of what it was doing. It's clearly smarter then the other infected.
Infact it slammed a person to the ground, making no attempt to infect them. Instead it turned its attention directly to Kathleen's right hand guy not to infect him but to kill him. Tearing his head off
I've lost quite a few loved ones to suicide. I'm sorry you too know how that feels :(
I’m sorry you lost so many people. Offering you hugs ❤
Lauren got us crying out here 😢
damn i think we all had a tear
I'd like to learn more about the young blond actress they got to play the child clicker. Her part was very well choreographed.
No apologies are needed for crying. I cried too. I'm sure most did. I needed time to compose my feelings as well. I think this world needs more people like us rather than people that don't have those reactions. Otherwise... we lose.
That split-second yelp/scream Ellie did just as Henry shot himself, that is when I lost it. Bella deserves an award just for her performance in this episode alone, There were so many times I literally wanted to give her a hug and comfort her. yet still she has her little 'Ellie' attitude.
Played this game like 5 times it’s pretty deep.
I'm going to leave a few reaction suggestions.
1: We Were Soldiers
2: Zulu
3: A Bridge Too Far
4: 13 Hours
5: Band of Brothers (10 ep series with interviews of the men)
6: The Forgotten Battle
7: "Danger close" is about Australian troops in Vietnam
8: The Siege of Jadotville
9: The Outpost (2020)
10: kajaki
11: Black Hawk Down
I'm sure others will happily add to this list but those are all outstanding films yes all war films.
There is always a choice to tell someone that they beautiful. You love Lauren
Great reaction girl, congrats🇧🇷
Henry must have thought of the great man he sacrificed to save Sam, and in the end he sacrificed Sam.
This show is so effective in showing how hard and cruel and unfair the world in which Joel and Ellie live is. Yes,I think you’re right,Kathleen didn’t realise that in forgiveness she would be healing herself and it might just have saved her life and the lives of many others. I’m not crying, you’re crying!
I hope your puppers is doing better. Happy Valentine's Day!!! ♥
On Valentine's Day we think of those
Who make our lives worthwhile,
Those gracious, friendly people who
We think of with a smile.
I am fortunate to know you,
That's why I want to say,
To a rare and special person:
Happy Valentine's Day! 💘💝💖
The ending to this episode is so freakin painful! Like I balled my eyes out 😭😭😭 Ithink that was one of the saddest things I've ever seen in a show
Hi Lauren your hair look great 🖤 how's your dog 🐕? You Saw the Super Bowl Cool Me to🏈 , my hero singer Billie Eilish went there too in Arizona ! I enjoyed your reaction to this episode like the "Bloater" scene or the child clicker jump on kathleen she got what she deserve ! And so very sorry about Sam and Henry It was very hard working and it really hit you hard after Henry shot himself then you cried a lot afterwards😭💔😭 wow I was impressed that I knew you would cry at that scene I even cry with you my friend😢😢😢 Hopefully next episode will make it better for both of us with Joel and Ellie Surviving together🧟♂️🧟🧟🍄 !!!
Hi Kennie! Thank you, Rex is doing much better since visiting the vet. Keeping a close eye on him. Thanks for asking about him. This is a rough one, One of my favorite episodes.. But, definitely hard to see how it ends, even having finished the game like 5 times, it still hit me.
When I played the game a second time & I couldn't remember what happened with Sam & Henry!
I knew where to go what to do in the game but couldn't remember how it ends.... turns out my brain had blocked it out.
I got experience the tragedy a second time! 😢
I *almost* was liking Kathryn has a villain, I liked her henchman's speech about her brother not being ruthless enough, but she is. But then she had Henry, her entire motivation for doing everything she has, in her sights, dead-to-rights, TWICE....and didn't fire..... rofl
Lauren reminds me of Bruce Lee in Enter the dragon. She is the best in the world.
Kathleen did a pretty good job of playing the villain. It's easy to hate her, especially when she's written as such a hypocrite. She asks Henry if his brother is worth everything and says he was meant to die. Meanwhile, she has killed a dozen or more collaborators, used up time and resources, and ultimately led her entire group to their deaths just for her own brother. Hating someone for being a less destructive version of yourself is peak hypocrisy.
Also, I believe it can't be said enough... Contortionist Clicker Girl is awesome! It was a cool little bit of personality for one member of the horde. I approve.
Can't cry all the time beautiful Lauren. ❤
I thought joel would have been smarter than to walk in the middle of the street, no cover, as they escaped. If they had been stealthier, they may have evaded that old man.
I think Cathline and Henry was both right
😎😊
Lauren is is the most beautiful person in the world . She needs to know it.
What do you suppose Joel would have done to Henry if Henry did to Tommy what he did to Kathleen's brother? You know the answer. Would you react to Joel the same way as you reacted to Kathleen, joyous at his death? If not, why not, b/c they're objectively equivalent situations. That's the central thesis of the games/show.
Lauren is the most gorgeous person in the world . She shows she is brilliant and gorgeous.
Lauren is on a different level
She is Bruce Lee gorgeous
I know you love Lauren. If she is hurt I will fight to the death
i dont see what henry did as a bad thing.. he did what he had to do for his family.. most people will do anything to protect their family, or maybe thats just me i will do anything to help or protect my family.
Good, one. You should listen music , when closing down....
Good reactions. You must watch Severance
Two issues I had with episode:
1) why TF did Henry have Sam cover Joel.
2) is the infected purpose of being is to spread the infection, why did perry die the way he did?
Those are just nitpicks cause other than that it was absolutely my favorite episode so far
For point 1) IMO if an adult is pointing a gun at Ellie then Joel would be a lot more careful, hence he wouldnt risk Ellie to get "deleted". For point number 2) Bloaters are notable for doing that in the game, I think it's just a reference to the game.
As for Kathleen, if she'd listen to her brothers' advice and forgiven Henry, her people would still be alive.. I'm sure some are still left in the city, but, I'm guessing that's where that hoarde was heading..
You are so perfect. I understand that. I wish you can see the Crow . Bruce Lee's son Brandon Lee
🍄
How do you tell people you love Lauren.
I know Laurenn is so gorgeous . She is in a different level.
There is a difference when Lauren drops. I know you can't beat her..
I don't think anyone is phenomenal as you.
With regards to Kathleen, I feel like you don't have siblings. I'm not saying she was right but if someone even hurts one of my sisters then they are going to hurt too, or worse hopefully. That is what family is and that is why Joel fights so hard for the folks he cares about. Certain things just mean everything to you, even if its not logical. If 2023 ethics mean that much to you then I give you a half hour of survival tops in any apocalypse but most of the softer people I've watched reactions of have said they'd rather die than live in this world and to them, and you, I say more ravioli for me!
Still got a like by the way, this is mostly just food for thought.
I have 7 siblings, I see where you're coming from though. Regardless of her wanting justice for her brother, it sounded like that's not what her brother would've wanted and she was doing it to satisfy herself. I thought she was a hypocrite for saying what she said to Henry, "Maybe he was supposed to die...you think the whole world revolves around him?" She was one to talk, her whole life revolved around getting what she called "justice" for her brother and she killed tons of innocent people just to find one man. I still stand by what I said, she got what she deserved.
Lauren is so beautiful . She is my superhero.
I'm sorry for your losses. This one seems to have hit you the way episode 3 hit me.
You don't have Lauren. Todd does
There is only one thing he cares about. It's Lauren
What got me was watching you getting upset by the whole henry and sam death scene so please cheer up.
Lauren is the most gorgeous woman in the world. She is absolutely gorgeous. 🥰
I honestly don't care. Lauren is a God to me.
Lauren is the most gorgeous person in the world.
Who in the world drinks chocolate milk with their chicken nuggets?
No makeup, still beautiful. 😍
