Problem is none of these methods actually do the desired thing. It's INSANE that a 1000 dollar phone doesn't come with the notification wakeup feature. It's infuriating that u have to use 3rd party apps and cross ur fingers to work.

@@karolsendrei3152 the thing is they didn't miss it. the feature is in the phone I had it but took it off. It's insane how people don't expect more from a 1000 dollar phone🤷

Saved my butt! I just switched from iPhone and was constantly missing notifications. That app recommendation works perfectly, and I love the edge light setting

Thank you for this! I think after the latest update my Samsung stopped doing the wake up screen notifications like your option 3. It's awesome that I can have that back since my phone is usually on silent and I like to have the screen wake up for text notifications
Same once I updated to one ui I stopped getting the wake screen notifications kinda dumb they get rid of that feature and don't even allow an option to enable it again so we have to download an app to do that for us. But hey, glad to have it back
I have just realized after moving from my iPhone. I mean come on. You Samsung and Android fans keep belittling iPhone for not doing so many things. May be in some cases you are righr, but what is it. I now realize why I am missing notifications even when my phone is just beside me. Screen doesn't wake up when notification comes and there is no toggle to activate this. On iPhone I never thought about it. I think that's the beauty of iPhone. You don't realize it until you don't have it. Face ID was already I was missing. Also built in password manager, flat display, hide my email, sign in with Apple ID and now the screen I can't make to wake up when notification arrives. Brilliant.

Glimpse Notifications Dev here - I just now stumbled accross this video. Thank you for mentioning Glimpse Notifications here! On Samsung phones it is highly recommendable to also enable Glimpse's accessibility service. This will help Glimpse to turn the screen on and off in all circumstances, such as during do-no-disturb and when you still want the lock screen to flash on upon new notifications.
I bought this new phone and was really struggling to get this set but your view was so eacy and worked just the way i wanted. By the way the 1st method was what i was looking for.

OMG thank you, this was so irritating ,I switched from xiaomi to galaxy, and notifications not waking up my screen was absolutely annoying!
Why? Once upon a time, if your samsung phone screen was off, a light was illuminated and stayed on so you knew you had a notification waiting for your attention. Stupid to remove a useful feature.
My Samsung G36 had that feature. It was surprisingly helpful to have.
I moved from iPhone to Samsung a few days ago (mainly due to the huge price difference) and I already miss it. I know these are just small details but the iPhone experience felt like it made life easier and I wasn't aware until I swapped to android.
Same here, I didn't switch per se, I bought the S23 Ultra as a second phone. Is making me crazy. I just don't understand the notifications. With my iPhone I NEVER missed text messages or calls. With Android I just feel the damn phone vibrating and have no idea what's happening lol. What a mess. The people that say that Android is better are insane.

oh man finally this app saved my life thank you so much i recently switched from iOS to a Galaxy S24 ultra and i wasn't able to track my notifications although my phone is silent all of the time it was a nightmare for me.
Thank you, that Glimpse app did work for my S24! But why this basic functionality is not provided by Samsung is just an unexplained mystery for me.
Bought s24 ultra and was struggling in finding the settings for wakeup screen for notification. Glad i found this video and downloaded the app. I just hate the fact the i need to download third party app for something that was supposed to be in the phone’s settings!
just got my s23 ultra and this did the trick for me. My phone normally stays out of my pocket and on the desk most of the times, so this is visually quite useful.

It seems the Galaxy S24 series still has this same issue - no native way to just show notifications during AOD. These phones are $1000+ but we can't configure them for basic functionality!?
Paying top dollars for such a phone but still have to use a third party app to light up the screen when receiving notifications😃😃😃
My iPhone 7 has that feature built-in but changed to S24 does not have it 😂
I think this relates more to security rather than an issue 🤔
I'm trying to stop my screen waking up when I get an sms, can't seem to stop it.
^ same i had my phone doing this not long ago by a setting i found and after an update its gone and its annoying to have the whole screen wake when i get a notification:/

They either want to save battery life, they have their notifications on another device, or they have it in an area where phoneface is not visible (rendering screen wake up useless).

I hate it because my phone screen turns on in my pocket then it starts opening up all kinds of stuff. It's very annoying

I mean. On OnePlus it was by default. I'm so used to that my screen is turning on during the incoming notification and i can see it briefly. The fact that on Sams u have to install some 3rd party app just sucks.
I would rather prefer my screen to wake when it is a detailed notification, it's high time samsung introduces that feature
so why do i need a 3rd party app to do what android could do by default since 4.4 upto at least 7? (i used an iphone for the last 5 years and now returning to android)
Glimpse notification works perfect! It also lets me decide how long for the screen to light up

To wake up the screen, go to Always On Display. Select show for new notification. Then go to Notification, Pop Up Style, select detailed. The screen will wake up when a text is sent. I have the S23 Ultra. Hope this help.

Aaaah thanks! It took me two times to fix this with the glimpse Papp on my s22 ultra. I was coming from i iphone and really missed that my screen didn’t light when a notification came in! Thanks!!!

Thanks. I'm running ONE UI 6 (Beta) on S23 and it only has an option to turn the "Always On Screen" on when a notification come through which is NOT what I want. I want to see the "lock screen", like the iPhone notifications. So I just installed Glimpse and looks like it did the trick! Fingers crossed! Thanks.
Amazing such a large company with such a massive presence in the phone world would have such a shitty notification system. I truly is amazing to me
So disappointed with Samsung for goofing up notifications so badly. Coming from a Note9 where they worked perfectly out-of-the-box to an S22 has been very frustrating. Even with Glimpse and all the suggestions I've researched it still doesn't work the way I prefer. Some apps notify and others don't. :(

Thanks..how to you set notifications to stay on your lock screen? Notifications disappear so unless you open the phone you dont know you have a notification..cheers
Thank you! I could only find the flash notifications because I had 'detailed' selected in Notifications. This is great.
Okay so if I got it right, there is no built in method to wake the screen completely, so when you get a notification, that it switches from the always on display to the lock screen, where you can see details of the notification. I have an S23 Ultra.
Problem with his video is he has clock always on display which actually keeps the phone awake. It's not fully in sleep mode.

How can you DISABLE waking the screen for notifications on a galaxy phone? A way that is global, because the do not show notifications for lock screen setting only works for the messaging app but not other apps.

We have a Samsung S14 but it doesn't wake up when receiving a notification and also no settings section for 'Show when screen is off' like on my Flip 5 phone. Any ideas or it can't be done on S14?

Isn't there something on the Galaxy s22+ that when you get a notification, the phone vibrates when you go to pick it up? My old A6 had that and I liked it.
It's a pity Samsung cannot get simple things right which other Chinese manufacturers are getting right. These are basic things which we shouldn't even worry about but on Samsung it's an issue 😢. Why are their phones so lousy despite paying so much money for them?
Good settings, but I still don't get notifications on the lockscreen. I hear the sound of the incoming notifications, but screen doesn't get on for 3rd party app. I works well though for Samsung stock apps. SAMSUNG expert remotely checked the settings, but found nothing wrong. Future sw update will hopefully solve it (SAMSUNG Galaxy S21+). In the end I solved it with aodNotify Pro app very well.
To wake up the screen, just turn this option off 1:11 .It worked for me.
wierd thing is my A21s used to -wake up- the xcreen and i could read whatever someone send me, but not it does it no more...

I have had two Z fold 4's. Whenever I used to get text messages on my old z fold 4, the screen would wake up. I cannot figure out how to do it on the new one. It only works for Snapchat. This is ridiculous
Samsung is getting worse updates after updates and is such a shame. I still have the option "show even while screen is off" on both, when i set notification pop-up to brief or detailed. S9+ android 10. Now on the latest update you can't even let your screen show you that you have a notification. That's ridiculous 🤦🏻♂️

For the third method it doesnt come up, it only shows the app icon is there any way i can remove it so i can see the full message or notification straight away like an iphone, btw im using a samsung fold 5

I like the fact that my s23 screen doesn't wake up. It doesn't bother me when I am working. I have an iphone 14 as well that I turn upside down because the screen keeps waking up. So I don't mind that the screen does not wake up.
Umm..there is actually a feature on Samsung that completely wakes up your screen when you get a notification and im pissed I can't remember how to turn it off. When I get a text it turns my phone on to the home screen.. HOME SCREEN not LOCK SCREEN. And no.. you don't need a app to have this feature. It's somewhere in the phones setting
What are talking about? We need to wake phone when there is a notification because we set the phone silence. That's probably in the old one UI feature

That's why Huawei Honor is the best it has the best notification methods on theirs emui system
