    Talking about lead Weights reminded me the fishing season is right around the corner and it's time to start making sinkers

    I just want to tell you thank you for your videos. I raced on asphalt from the mid 80's to the mid 90's. Building cars was probably my favorite part next to driving. I enjoy your channel and the information that you show.

      Thank you sir, sounds like we are similar. I enjoy the off season just as much because that's when I can go after a lot of build ideas.

    I've got a feeling this might be the same day we were working on our car from Atwood. Had the trailer backed up into the shop door unloading and that hail was blowing straight into the door!
    Car is coming along great! Ready to see it on the track!

    Rustoleum with hardner added has worked well for us and thus far has withstood chipping from tracks with rock in the clay like Dixie & Rome Speedways.

      Ha, No seriously stripped down like this it might weigh 700 lbs at most. Not a problem at all to flip over. This joker seems like a totally different animal from my first build in every aspect.

    Is it an advantage to have the weight lower in the car? I would think having it inside the wheels is preferable to on the tail for example. Trying to understand the engineering behind it all

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  9 місяців тому

      There is a lot less grip in dirt than in asphalt. this is why you want the CG higher in a dirt car than a asphalt car. With less grip you have to be able to shift tire load more to make the car turn on throttle. And 100% always want to try and keep any ballast inside the 4 corners / spring locations. Weight hanging very far rearward may give you a good looking rear % number on the scales but it can be a real disaster on the track in how it wreck polar moment and take weight off the front. Lead is your friend. Much better to add more instead of moving a piece further out past the springs.

    Dude with all that tubing and fabrication you might as well go build a modified. Very popular competitive class.

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  8 місяців тому

      I do enjoy open wheel modifieds and if I ever was to climb out of a full fender car it would be 100% to go modified racing. I wish they could come back in the South like they were 20 years ago. . .
