Since she drives it in Sport, it makes the "shift feel" extremely pronounced. I noticed the same thing when reviewing, which is why I leave it in sport for anything other than cruising. Also interesting his comments on the steering as this is one of the last cars in this class that's not pure electric steering it's a hybrid on here so you can get a lot of feel/feedback from it (but yes that could cause more correction).

First off I really enjoyed this review but I do have to disagree with one statement and it maybe that I have the 6 cylinder engine. I did not notice a difference in MPG leaving the car in Drive Sport, if anything I noticed the engine did not lug or bog when left in the sport mode. Please don't take that the wrong way as I stated I really enjoyed the review. Thanks for posting!

That's funny; I liked the steering of the Altima. There is heft in it but not artificially so like you find in the Sonata (and 3 settings don't improve it in any way). One of things I detest the Camry is the steering where I can turn lock to lock...with one finger. That's a deal breaker by my standards. Yes it doesn't self center, but interestingly enough neither does the Mercedes-Benz C-class.

  • @edspencer7121

I would prefer it the transmission runs out smoothly in drive with no 'mimic' shifts. Where as if I'm going around twists n turns, up hil/down hill I use the Paden shifters in sport mode.

Sir. Go drive the Rogue Sport or Qashqai. The steering is horrendous you need more than micro adjustments. The vehicle wanders all over the place even on flat road surfaces. I traded out of my 2017 Rogue Sport and into the 2017 3.5 SL. Good Luck with the vehicle and thanks again for the review, oh and Happy New Year!!!

He's mansplaining the heck out that CVT. I agree with her, I noticed it right away on a rental, without knowing it was a cvt out of the lot. It definitely grumbles and shudders a little when accelerating, not sure how he missed that.

For -people cross shopping, I think they are going to be sorely disappointed by the Altima. It is outdated and lacks a lot of refinement. Yes but 24k to start isn't a positive point.. The Civic is leaps and bounds better at that price. Might as well get the Accord Sport for this price and really step up.

+Pun Jabi You can't class a Corolla with an Altima. A Corolla is compact car and an Altima is midsized sedan. The Camry and Altima are in a similar class.

BE CAREFUL IF THIS HAS A CVT TRANSMISSION. It is over $4000 to fix it, and they are known to have problems soon after the warranty expires. Look it up! The info is out there. This is not an isolated problem. Mine gave no warning. shifted fine since 2011 and in 2016 - it just died. towed off to the dealer and waited for a new trans. aprox 85k freeway miles, and it just died. typical from what I read. I also had a 1986 Maxima that lost the transmission in less than 10K ! But because Nissan replaced that one under warranty, we purchased another one in 2011. We thought Nissan as a consumer concerned company, so we trusted them.. We were about 15,000 over warranty, and Nissan turned their back on us, even though we were still within the time of warranty (7 years) but past the mileage (70,000 miles). Needless to say, we will not be purchasing a Nissan product ever again. I owned an Inifinit. I sold it before it lost it's Nissan transmission. Nissan uses the CVT in many different models.

Hi...What does Nissan call this exterior color for the Altima? Grey with a blue undertone sounds different and intriguing...much more interesting than your standard black or grey. I'm not a grey fan ordinarily, but this particular color caught my eye. please inform and Thanx! Peace...

I have it in Storm Blue and can tell you that it looks nothing like what's on the website. It's basically a shade between the gun metal and pure black. Looks awesome though.

    • @AladdinSaneNYC
      @AladdinSaneNYC 7 років тому

+Kyle Avery About how it looks in Storm Blue: I definitely agree with you. That color IS quite dramatic, speaking for myself. I find black very attractive too, but I'm swayed to this color. Black is highly dramatic, depending on the vehicle of course. But SB is VERY intriguing! I hope it's still available for the '17 model year. BTW: U satisfied with your Altima? I just wish it had a 2 year free maintenance feature to go with warranty. Whatcha think? Thanks for your responses. I appreciate it more than you know. Peace...♐

Not a lot of room in your scores left when you rate the better sedans... Can all sedans rate 8 or 9? I think the Altima will remain at the back of the pack. I find the design terrible just like the rest of their line up,

    • @MrUnknown747

+Ponyboy yes we are on the same page about having navigation but proprietary is doomed. I have it in an Audi, love the car but the navigation is twisted. my Garmin GPS is way better and intuitive and as an Android user I absolutely love Maps.

I have enjoyed your videos in the past. I think the scoring of the vehicle is a bit arbitrary and the final result is just as arbitrary as it is not the mean, median, or mode. The woman's perspective will set you apart from a sea of male reviewers. I disagree that the Altima competes against ALL of those listed vehicles.

What do you mean "not so great reliability"? I've had a Pathfinder and a Maxima that were bought brand new over 12 years ago and not a single problem with either. Just minor maintenance and they're good to go. I know many people that drive different Nissan's and no complaints about reliability from them.

    • @NeutralGenericUser

This is what you get from this review? LOL. Sounds like there's a bias and preconceived notion in your tone. This car is far from reliable, it's more near the top of it's class, if not the absolute top of it's class. I have an Infiniti M35x, and it has been an amazing vehicle for the 4+ years I've owned it. No reliability issues.
