I actually bought it in June. So far, unless you have a really good ACTIVE 5 string bass and the gain knob under 9 oclock, the Rumble has a hard time reproducing a good Low B. It definitley lacks low end definition. But it sounds really good if youre into a vintage sound or any 4 string Fender style bass. Love the overdrive too. Vintage button is cool but the other 2 are useless to me. Great head for sure but id like to have a GK MB800 or 1001Rb for clarity and deeper low end. I tried the rumble against many other (Mesa D800+, markbass...) and the Rumbld 800 is the most powerful 800 class D amp ive ever played so far.
Jp Tet Interesting as I totally disagree about low end definition - but I’m using a Sadowsky PJ5 and an MTD AG5 USA so on the fancy end! What cabs are you using? We definitely have different tonal goals as I didn’t like the MB800 as much as this and use the bright switch on the Fender all the time. I think people on the internet think one size fits all and if one person likes something everyone must like it and this is yet again such a clear example of it just not being the case! I love hearing people’s preferences etc. And it’s amazing that we have so much choice when it comes to amps in this category! T
@@TylerSpicer I used the Rumble 410 cab...must admit that since I got a GK neo 212 it is much better. I had a Am std Jazz V that I sold..and I have a 1992 Yamaha TRB 6P. The Low B sounds really good in active mode with the Rumble. Totally agree with you that there are a lot of different amps on the market and its a cool puzzle to solve when it comes to choose!!
Jp Tet I think the amount of power it puts out is really probably a little much for the rumble cabs dare I say it 😅 Nice basses man! Always wanted a TRB 6p - had a 6PII and it was a monster but just too large to ever be comfortable. Really I don’t think Yamaha basses are for me despite loving the brand and having owned most models - always ended up selling in the end!
@@TylerSpicer so true about that rumble Cab 🤣🤣 . Totally agree that TRB 6P neck is so wide it makes it hard to mute all the strings you arent playing. But the sound is so great and low action makes it easier to play. That being said, im happy that bass kept me from selling my Rumble 800 and that amp is still growing on me.
Thanks so much. I hate other reviews that just show 5 or 6 different custom settings and show "look at what you can get" without actually going through each knob/button on the same line. Really helped me convince to get this
Great review. I have owned mine for about a year now. Use the Rumble 210 cab for rehearsals and smaller shows and a MarkBass HF410 (800w and 4ohms) for bigger stages. Very happy. Better than all previous rigs I have owned in both sound and carrying effort!!
Great review Tyler! I got mine when it came out, it is hands down the best amp/head I’ve owned in my life! I’ve gigged with it and the results were out standing for a class d head! The other bass player commented on my great tone! The sound guy loved the sound as well! Fender rules!
I just bought a 4ohm 1 x 12" Barefaced bass cabinet... very impressed, not cheap but the best bass cabs i've heard in many years, & they were heavy back then.... lightweight cabs with fantastic punch & clarity...i can see/hear why you like the Barefaced cab with the Fender 800 head...nice tone & much easier to carry...
Hi Tyler, I have ordered a barefaced Tw10S and after watching this video I’m going to acquire a Rumble 800. I can’t imagine any gig that I would do needing more headroom. Thanks for a great video.
I love Fender Rumble amps! I currently have a Rumble 200 combo, 500 combo, a Rumble 210 extension cab, and a rumble 15 combo for bedroom practice........ I definitely want this head!
Hi there Tyler and another great informative video especially with the settings as I purchased the 500 combo a few months before these heads came out. You were getting great sound with the overdrive as I'm not a big fan but tried your settings on the 500 and yeah,,, hit the spot. I've got an old 1x15 cab with the combo but thinking about upgrading to the 800. Thanks again for sharing with us and have a great one mate .Cheers 👍
Nice review Tyler.. My only extra want would be a variable HPF like my Mesa WD800. The drive really is nice on this. I want a backup amp to the WD800 and have one of these or a Genzler Magellian 800 at nearly twice the price to choose from.
@Tyler Spicer Great review! I'm seriously considering purchasing this amp. I mostly play a Hofner 500/1, a Vox Constellation IV, and a Rickenbacker 4003, so I'm thinking the Vintage Button will be a nice compliment to the sound I like. I've been using a Hartke HA3000 for quite a few years. I usually run it through a Carvin 18" cabinet, and I also have a four 10" as well. I still like the Hartke very much, but as some of my gigs are becoming more important, it might be time for a bit of an upgrade. (I'd more than likely still bring it along as a backup, only because ya never know!) But from what I've seen here, I think you just made Fender and Guitar Center a sale! Thanks!
@@TylerSpicer I was using a Yorkville Bassmaster xs800. Hybrid solid state head with a 12ax7 tube in it. Great head and very well built. Then I use it on stage at church nearly every Sunday, still 8 ohms into an Ampeg 4-10, gain at 12 o'clock, and master volume at about 9 o'clock. Plenty loud to fill a gym, and playing alongside an acoustic drum set. Sounds just as amazing.
