I will never forget how it felt shredding the keys to Freya on Guitar Hero when I was fifteen. It introduced me to The Sword. Here I am twice-lived now at 31 and Im still drawn back like a moth to a flame.
This song now has special meaning to me. I recently figured out who my Maiden, my Mother, and my Crone are in my life story. (my own mother is the Crone (she who raised me), my wife is the Mother (of my children), and the first girl I fell in love with, and she with me, was the Maiden (taught me how to love another unconditionally no matter the circumstance, taught me what it is like to be loved in the same way, and what it feels like to lose said love. No pain, no gain). I just wish my Maiden didn't pass away on New Year's Day, because even though we didn't talk at all, I'll always love her.
Damn! Today I just woke up with this music inside my head begging to be played! I just had to hear it! This ROCKS!!! Cheers from PORTUGAL!!! Hope they come here soon! ;)
Such a heavy tune.... moah.. just thick! Is it just me or am I the only one to think that the maiden and the mother don't differ too much in their appearance?^^ Both two young and beautiful women.... ^^
If you've heard of Asatru Paganism, it IS Norse. Odin, Thor, the lands of Asgard, Midgard (NOT the one in Final Fantasy but the one in the Norse lands), Loki, Freyja, Valhalla, and the battle of Ragnarok. Read a book on the subject matter and you might see this. The song is in fact about the Pagan Triple Goddess. Reading books about the subject may help you understand better. If the video were How Heavy This Axe or one of the other songs, then the comments would be different.
Thought the same thing a few years back when my girlfriend said "hey, You should hear these guys..they're right up your alley." Been hooked ever since.
Really surprised there aren't any comments about Game of Thrones, lol. This song, along with 'To take the Black' from the same album are directly referencing the series - 3 years before the HBO show first aired no less.
they do all the riff , sounds and stuff i like to hear or play on the guitar!!! i have a similar style to them, im glad to hear them, they will inspire me
Saw them last night for the 4th time, amazing. They didn't play this song though, bummer. They did play several new unreleased tunes, you all will be blown away, the really rock!
I love these guys. They sing about my religion, but i really don;t know if they worship it or not. Well idk. Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
First I heard of this band was on the new GH. Sounded good so I had to check them out. The more I hear and see of them the more awesome they are! They are a mix of Heavy Metal and Fantasy. What a perfect combo!
Gotta say I dont like to be time biased for music I like music from the old days and now I gotta say I am pretty impressed with this group they really know their metal roots and nothing sounds forced or over produced in any of their songs like a bullet for my valentine fruity song glad to see I dont have to go searching Sweden for metal music for once :D
For those of you commenting that this is the first that you have heard of them, I envy y'all in a way. Keep checking out their stuff, cause you will not be disappointed ... Black River is their big hit, Winter Wolves is most metal fans favorite.
I agree although it's kind of a shame their style went to pot after they toured with Metallica and those first 2 albums. But goddamn, the first two albums make up for anything else
If you have anything bad to say about this band you just don't like rock and roll this ain't no death metal crap this is just good freaken rock and roll
The sword is the best new metal to happen in the last 10 years. They opened for metallica not to long ago, and I thought metallica probably shoulda been opening for the sword.
@METALFAN2486 i didnt like warp riders the first couple of listens, but it is slowly becoming my favorite. Tears of Fire and Night City really stand out to me.
Not today...... :) I do see the sabath influence in the sword but i do hate the comparisons all the time. They are theire own sound. I myself hear alot of slayer influence aswell. Anyhow these guys are sick. Cheerscto my mate roidsy for getting me on to them \m/
that's so true but idk if they coincider themselves as true metal bc the go back and forth between old hard rock and heavy metal sound most metal warriors stick with one sound and build onto it examples 3 inches of blood, manowar i mean their lyrics remind me of dio but their sound im not so sure about what they would call their music themselves.
The riff is erotic at 0:38 ... and btw, for all those GH haters... statistics show that for 80% of the songs albums sold goes up 130%, some of us GH players save bands. And so what... the song was ADVERTISED like in any other place, only difference is it's on a game...
I don't hear/see any posing or pretending. It's a band. That's their style. It sounds good. Who gives a shit if their sound is inspired by someone else? I dare you to find anybody in ANY form of media who hasn't patterned their work on some other artist.
How many times exist this band?I just know because of Guitar Hero Games,I liked this band.I must research more about this band. It´s look likes Black Sabath.
This might be the most underrated band on planet earth.
Saw them open for Primus. They blew Primus out of the water.
@@Eric06410 I could believe that, I seen them open for ZZ top in Austin TX and did the same.
for sure one of the most underrated bands to ever exist.
One of them for sure

Minus trust company
I will never forget how it felt shredding the keys to Freya on Guitar Hero when I was fifteen.
It introduced me to The Sword.
Here I am twice-lived now at 31 and Im still drawn back like a moth to a flame.

I love these guys and wolfmother and be glad brother for this kind of variety in this day an age is rare indeed!!
These guys are the reincarnation of good old fashioned 70's era hard rock. Love it!
Best there is
I saw them a few years ago with Clutch. It was the best small venue concert I've ever been to.
Same here. Jan. 2014(?) in Jacksonville.
That sounds like a supergroup to me
I saw them open for Metallica a couple years ago. I had no idea who they were and when I heard them play I was an instant fan. Awesome!
Trey Gilmore ...... that’s a fucking insane ticket man. I wouldn’t have survived.
Epic

Man, that's the power of music.
Hecate embodies it all.🙏😎🌾🍁🌌
@Seth Fineberg interesting. Also a fun fact, GRRM took his name for "the seven" because it is a number that appears on page 7 of the Silmarillion.
Strong words, pretty nice inspiration
Song written in 2008, Video recorded in 1974. Awesome song, Awesome band.
f yeah man !
Who knows the name of that first actress
First time I heard Iron Swan. I was like WHOOO THEEE FUCK AREEE THESE GUYYYYSSS MANNNNNNN!!!!
Lame
Flannigan, tho you may seek, the harvest you will not reap, the seeds you have sown are foul, now you will know the empty stomachs growl.
Seriously... how can this band not be huge yet?
The world was not ready for The Sword.
Damn! Today I just woke up with this music inside my head begging to be played! I just had to hear it! This ROCKS!!!
Cheers from PORTUGAL!!! Hope they come here soon! ;)
What's great about it is it doesn't dominate the song. It gets in and out, no excessive noodling.
I love this band such a old school feel to it
Going to see them on Nov. 20th in Orlando. Should be a good show.
Clutch headlining and The Sword is an amazing show. One of the most memorable shows I've ever been to!
Such a heavy tune.... moah.. just thick! Is it just me or am I the only one to think that the maiden and the mother don't differ too much in their appearance?^^ Both two young and beautiful women.... ^^
They are going to be at Rocklahoma this year!!!! Count me in. They are simply amazing.
As a wiccan, this song speaks to me. I love it and the video is beautifully made.
+Angela Burkhammer the video is really beautiful. it speaks to the soul
I can honestly say that is the main reason I liked this song. Blessed be :)
)O(

K Harris A-fucking Men. Or should I say, THOTH-AMMON!
Thought the same thing a few years back when my girlfriend said "hey, You should hear these guys..they're right up your alley." Been hooked ever since.
I wish this video would've been shot or uploaded in a higher quality; 240p just doesn't cut it.
my God oh my God why do I feel like I'm the only person that knows this band this needs to reach to the masses trying to help you Brothers
God I can't fucking get enough of the sword lately
Really surprised there aren't any comments about Game of Thrones, lol. This song, along with 'To take the Black' from the same album are directly referencing the series - 3 years before the HBO show first aired no less.

Saw them last night for the 4th time, amazing. They didn't play this song though, bummer. They did play several new unreleased tunes, you all will be blown away, the really rock!

I agree although it's kind of a shame their style went to pot after they toured with Metallica and those first 2 albums. But goddamn, the first two albums make up for anything else

The Sword has a certain old school sound I can appreciate

Goddamn why is this so good? Reminds of the songs my dad used to play me when I was younger.
Nice Bro! One of my sons i got into all kinds of metal ages ago. It's cool to see and loved your story :)
Now playing on Freezknotable: Stoner Rock: "The Black Hound of Vengeance" (2010) "Maiden, Mother & Crone" The Sword 2008.
@Slaygull Although it doesnt sound that complicated, Thats some serious skill exploding from his fingertips melting our brains.
@mob2season My reason because Im too lazy to explain YET AGAIN: They have the awesomness of Maiden
The Morrigan. Birth, death, renewal.
I agree
Still my favorite metal band of all-time.
badass song. the riff is sweet, and Trevdug, your right. the classic heavy metal sound is tough to do nowadays. this is gonna be awesome on gh5
the sword has some of the heaviest riffs iv ever heard
They got that Sabbath voodoo.
live in de ahoy waren ze wel gaaf
It sounds good to me.
This song is great at normal speed, but 1.25....now thats epic!!
Oh this is very nice :)
They are doom metal, but also meant that the are considered to be on the forefront of the regressive rock movement
Take that back.
Not today...... :) I do see the sabath influence in the sword but i do hate the comparisons all the time. They are theire own sound. I myself hear alot of slayer influence aswell. Anyhow these guys are sick. Cheerscto my mate roidsy for getting me on to them \m/
It's a shame the last comment was 6 years ago! Should be getting views daily!
fuck love the riffs, I'm a great fan of Black Sabbath and this sound really like a modern Sabbath indee. Very good!
I didn`t find out about these guys through Guitar Hero, i found out about them myself long ago when i heard Baraels Blade.
@MikeyboyMovies Exactly. He is Jesus.
@officialSYRENchannel I agree
So what's the Ozzy effect on the vocals, what ozzy use,
that's so true but idk if they coincider themselves as true metal bc the go back and forth between old hard rock and heavy metal sound most metal warriors stick with one sound and build onto it examples 3 inches of blood, manowar i mean their lyrics remind me of dio but their sound im not so sure about what they would call their music themselves.
This shit is so epic, makes me feel like a champion.
This sounds like Witchfinder General so much
woohoo!
agreed
I love this band, just so different apart from alot of todays modern metal.
The riff is erotic at 0:38 ...
and btw, for all those GH haters...
statistics show that for 80% of the songs albums sold goes up 130%, some of us GH players save bands. And so what... the song was ADVERTISED like in any other place, only difference is it's on a game...
The Sword: Making peaceful religions like Wicca totally freakin' awesome since 2003.
Oh yeah \m
Tres brujas indeed.
Reminds me exactly of Down or atleast the intro does
Stick to the Stoner and Doom ways of music, you'll hear that retro sound a lot, I love it too man. Graveyard and Witchcraft are sure to please.
First time I heard Iron Swan. I was like WHOOO THEEE FUCK AREEE THESE GUYYYYSSS MANNNNNNN!!!!
I don't hear/see any posing or pretending. It's a band. That's their style. It sounds good. Who gives a shit if their sound is inspired by someone else? I dare you to find anybody in ANY form of media who hasn't patterned their work on some other artist.
Oh yeah, and P.S: This band is awesome. Keep it up guys!
I totally agree, they fucking rock! and I want to know more about them so I'm going to check a biography on them! :)
How many times exist this band?I just know because of Guitar Hero Games,I liked this band.I must research more about this band. It´s look likes Black Sabath.
