How to Co Wash for Shiny Strong Moisturized Natural Hair

  • Here is my complete co washing routine and how I maintain shiny, strong, and moisturized natural hair! Co washing is the cleansing of your hair without the use of shampoos! Yes, your hair can get clean without shampoo! In the span of a month, I do this three of the four weeks, and on the fourth week, I'll cleanse with my DIY homemade cleanser ( • DIY Homemade Clay Hair... ). This helps my hair retain its natural oils and keeps my hair from becoming completely stripped! I hope you give it a try and love the results!

    Just wanted to say thank you for all of your videos. I adopted my AA daughter one year ago. She was 6 at the time and had extremely damaged hair. But I didn't know what was damage and what was normal for 4c hair. Needless to say, I've learned a ton this past year and you are helping me go further in our hair journey. Thank you for all you are doing! Blessings!

    Hi Whitney,
    I went natural about 18 months ago. While, my hair is not as long and thick as yours (thin, fine medium length) and my texture is not the same as yours(combination 3a/3b/3c & 4a) I still find your videos very helpful. I love the way you do your twist outs and wash and go's (I have yet to master your twist technique). Years of perming my thin fine hair has made my hair thinner.and although going natural has deterred the thinning process somewhat; it is still thin. But thanks to your videos I find many styles that aid in making my hair look more voluminous. So, again thank you for your videos they have been and still are very helpful to me. May God continue to bless and prosper you and your family! Keep the videos coming! Love you!!

    Soooooo, I just tried this using coconut oil, and Hello Hydration conditioner, unfortunately I didn't have aloe vera juice on hand. Nevertheless, This is THE most moisturized my hair has felt after a co-wash. Just amazing! Thanks Whitney!!!

    It frustrates me that people thumbs down your stuff. I don't understand it. You have great advice about hair and even though our textures are completely different I gain inspiration from watching the way you love your hair, the way that you have fun with it, the way you are so down to earth and the fact that you have accepted your natural beauty and let it shine for others to see. Your videos make me more confident in taking care of my own hair. Thank you so much for the opening your life to us on these forums. :D

    You know, no matter how many co-wash tutorials I watch, yours are ALWAYS the most user-friendly. I really like simple and to-the-point routines for my hair (as I am VERY low maintenance, and generally only stray from wash-and-go's for a special occasion), and your hair routines are the best~!

    This was the fastest cowash. The least amount of hair "shedding" off. And it's the softest my hair has been after any wash. This is amazing! Will be doing it from now on.
    Thanks, Whitney! :)

    Drying with an old towel definitely helps with frizz. It's the best when you have locs and you're trying to avoid as much lint as possible. You make taking of naturals curls so easy and even though majority of the tips I can't use, you did influence me so much. I have my own hair and body oil mixture and my own shea butter mixture all inspired by you. So thanks! You're awesome and your hair looks absolutely beautiful.

    I developed a sensitivity to various chemicals that are found in most shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc, so I tried *Argan Rain* shampoo and conditioner and it's great! It doesn't irritate my skin at all. I love the smells.

    • @fabulously695
      @fabulously695 8 років тому +3

      seriously, stop trying too sell us your product, literally every hair video on youtube has a rep from argan rain trying too sell more of it, no one cares about it, we'd much rather use natural brands like shea moisture, boucleme, trepadora than invest in something you claim too be good. For all we know, it could be chock full of parabens, sulphates, silicone, polyquats, preserves, mineral oil and more! this is the wrong place too try and sell too!

    OMG! I wanted to come back to thank you & send you a BIG HUG! I hope you feel it! :) I tried this and it was the easiest cowash experience ever. Plus, I didn't lose nearly as much hair as usual during detangling. I normally have at least, not joking, about 8-10 times more hair loss. I had accepted it as my normal amount of shed hair, but now I'm convinced that I've been ripping my hair out. I'm looking forward to using this method in the future. Thanks for the video! Keep doing what you do!

    Naptural85,
    I recently started my "hair journey" transition. While I was THINKING about it, I watched a video of you that I believe took place shortly after your big chop when your hair was about ear length or so (without stretching). You were working on a twist out. I was terrified at the thought of having my hair that short, and thus, I permed my hair. After some medical issues that recently popped up, I decided that I didn't have a choice anymore. Now that I am looking at natural hair videos again, I see all of these videos of you with hair GALORE!!!! Um...I think hair videos need to be dated. How long was it between then and now? You are my new inspiration...

    I heart aloe vera juice! I do something similar on my wash days. After the whole shampoo, coconut oil rinse, and wash out conditioner steps, and once I'm out of the shower, I take the cold aloe vera juice and pour it into a spray bottle (just the amount for that moment). For each section, I spray the aloe vera juice, add about a quarter size amount of my olive oil-grapeseed oil mix to the section, and seal with my Giovanni's leave-in.

    • @briawilliams6427
      @briawilliams6427 10 років тому +2

      Technically shes not washing them out..you know the really oily film thats left when you use too much? Shes just removing that layer..after putting the cold aloe vera up there the moisture remains sealed in. In another one of her vids(cant remember which on at the moment) but she does say that aloe vera helps to keep the pH in the hair balanced. Hope this helps!!! :D

    Gonna try this today. I'll also shampoo in between the parts. This seems promising. Can't tell you how tired I am of the water running cold on me. Thanks!

    I love Bantu knots. They're great for everything and so so easy. This is how I like to cowash. Tho, since I recently bc'ed, I don't need the knots. The oil tip makes perfect sense. Thanks.

    My cowashing experiences have never been awesome, but this looks like something I should give a go. Thanks chica!

    I want to start doing this three out of four weeks of the month like you. I have been using too much diy shampoo and it is stripping my hair.

    Oh this is perfect for me, I will have to try it ASAP :) it never feels like I retained any moisture when I co-wash ( plus I've been spoiled with mud washes as of late) so I stopped, but let's try this for round 3! Thank you soo much for all of your awesomeness!

    Did this today; and I didn't have to use a comb either (who would have thought)? This is an excellent regimen!

    My co wash was a great success. I did it my way, using what I had learnt from you. Thank you. You are a great teacher. #namaste.

    I absolutely love the Trader Joe's TTT conditioner. The slip, the softness, the definition it gives my curls and then at only $4 a bottle! I'm glad you got me hooked on it! ;1
