I feel like I was just punched I the guts ...was about to ask all these questions.. Umm five years ago would make it not long after this clip was made..
I found this video a few weeks ago when I was doubting whether I was being paranoid or not. Turns out they found a tumor at the base of my esophagus. After years of being told it’s stress. I’m finally getting answers. Rest in peace to this beautiful woman and thank you for sharing your story.
I'm doing well. The tumor is from chronic severe GERD and is being managed. I wish you luck with your husband and I will keep your family in my prayers.@@Irish12345
@DementiaDon thank you for asking. He did chemo and radiation and now scheduled for surgery first week of May. Sadly delay and delays and looking at CT results I dont believe treatment did much. Doctors just don’t sit and talk about things. You go in , a number in the line, tell you what they will do and you leave. If you ask questions they say they are running late for next appointment. We see surgeon on 23rd and this time I have a list of questions I want answered. Since January he has still not shown us any pictures of where tumour is, how big or exact staging. Definitely disappointed with whole treatment plan .
This lady described it exactly as my dad did. Finding it hard to swallow was one of the first symptoms he got until he was bringing up anything he ate. Feeling like he had indigestion constantly. He passed away last year from the same cancer. He lived 7 months from first diagnosis and I miss him terribly😢 my love to anyone suffering at this moment ❤
I had temporary dysphagia the second time I got COVID. It was the only symptom other than sleeping for 12 hours when I wasn’t even tired which was unusual for me (I can normally get by on 6) and the distinct COVID flavor which was how I knew it was COVID.
Did they operate? My dad had a pet scan last week so awaiting the results. The Dr seemed to suggest surgery as asked him we need your strength up. I hope he's here for next Christmas
My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer two days ago. Biopsy is still in process. From endoscopy and ct abdomen/pelvis scan oncologist said husband have 6 months life. We are devastated. I found this beautiful soul video and from the first video sounded so promising to life until, I found out she is passed away. Here I am crying and can not stop … May she rest in peace 🪽🖤Thank you to the family keeping the videos and making other people aware of this cruel illness.
I'm so sorry. This happened to my brother. He died in may this year. He was stage 4 terminal at the beginning. With chemo and drugs lots of pain killers he lasted 20 months. He was told like your husband 6 months. I feel for you all it's not easy if you want to talk just let me know. I had no one to communicate with in my area only the medical professionals. Stay strong.
@@jessicasweatt3247 not sure how to answer this. My husband went through 4 rounds (chemo is every other week) of chemo and immunotherapy and after the second one he started to pass out. Oncologists said I can’t do much so they ordered MRI on his head and is all clear, no cancer. However, they did an early PET scan and the cancer shrinked as well as lymph nodes, the mass in the stomach is not visible. Now since January 4th he is in a hospital and they found Amyloidosis on his heart through biopsy. Waiting to see what type it is. So stressful. He has been through so much and he is fighting with legs and arms and heart ♥️ Chemo is off the table at this moment and we don’t know nothing what’s going to be next, tests are in progress in the hospital until further notice from the doctors. Thank you for asking! ♥️
To her family, thank you for keeping this video up. It is so important for others. I am so deeply sorry the medical community in America is so messed up and cost you such a lovely soul.
@Kazilikaya Then Canada an America are completely messed up. UK can be added to this list. It's sad to think advanced countries still have an archaic medical system that's killing people.
They didn't cause her cancer but they delayed her diagnosis significantly and ran the wrong initial test. If the cancer hadn't had time to spread, she very well may still be living. Shame on the medical community- this should not have been missed.@@Snarkapotamus

This woman died. But in the depths of her sorrow, she battled, and she helped many people. This is an amazing and heartbreaking yet empowering and uplifting story. It's so easy to be overwhelmingly discouraged after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. But no matter what, you have to fight. Fight with your heart and soul. Be courageous, be proactive, be a warrior. Yes, you may not survive. But taking productive action, like doing extensive research and sharing your knowledge and experience with others, is rewarding on so many levels. It gives you a sense of purpose, regardless of how dire the prognosis. I might not survive, but I'm gonna make sure I help as many people as I can through my experience. I will fight. And I will die with grace and dignity and love and hopefully impact the lives of others and maybe help save a few.💪💪🤟🤘 stay strong my fellow warriors.
Sadly i must say that i do not feel that cancer research or treatment has advanced at all over the past 60 years at all .With the money invested into this disease it is beyond me as to why ? Mike.
My mom had esophageal cancer. Her wonderful doctor saw some bloodwork numbers that indicated she was losing blood somewhere. In his older patients, Mom was 70, he always went looking for the source, and found the tumor with endoscopy. It was caught early and we were quite hopeful. It did end up spreading, but we got 4-1/2 years, which is more than most get. Thank you for sharing your story.
This type of stuff makes me sick to the core. She knew something was wrong all along and was completely ignored. Blessings to your soul and your family!
I fell her pain 7 blood tests about 10 doctor appointments 3 years later finally get a endoscopy keeped being told just fatty liver or acid reflux found out had hiatus hernia and the last couple years food really gets stuck where I'm choking all the doctors care about these days is patients numbers through the door for statistics not actually caring for patients
My daughter who is 30 years old has been having the esophical cancer symptoms. And she went to the doctor a year-and-a-half ago with symptoms and told them and they gave her antacids. They didn't do any testing. Now the symptoms are worse, she's having her food feel stuck right about in between her breasts just like this woman that did the video. When she drinks liquids sometimes she gets very painful hiccups. I am so sad to think that my daughter may have this cancer. She is going to be getting some tests done in the next week or two. I suppose I better prepare myself for the reality that this could very well take her life. I saw online that once you're diagnosed you have approximately 3 to 12 months to live. And that there are very few survivors. This makes me want to puke. It's my only daughter.. I have 4 unruly sons and one beautiful wonderful daughter. Tears tears cry cry sad sad💦💦💦..."Update" 11-2-2019 This is an update for all you tenderheart Bears out there. Who actually got your feelings hurt over reading my message. My daughter had her esophageal cancer test and it was "negative."🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉 She is on a drug that she has been taking for approximately four and a half years that the doctor said is probably the reason that she's having these symptoms. In other words there are certain prescription drugs that can cause a side effect like that. I'm happy to say she does not have cancer!!! hip hip hooray :-)🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🎊
Thats what I'm saying....when you're younger you're ignored because you..."don't fit into that age group for that certain kind of thing to be wrong with you".....when it gets worse along the way ...they finally figure that she knew what shes talking about about ....OF COURSE WE KNOW WHEN SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT INSIDE OF OUR OWN BODIES....why do you think we have to push doctors to give us testing that we need...even some of us older folks have to give firm pushes, thats how we can catch it earlier and get on it...as long as we set back and don't say nothing and pray we live through it....keep pushing young people and God bless you...!!!
I think some people use the dislike button in the way they use facebook emojis... none of us would put a laughing face or a thumbs up on this video if we saw it on fb (I hope)! Most of us that clicked the like button here didn't do it because we're happy that she has cancer but to acknowledge that we appreciate her making the video and sharing her journey with us. That said, yes there are always people in the world, (especially on social media where they're anonymous), that are simply mean.
@ladymadecrazy. I do agree for the most part. I feel bad clicking 'like' on a video like this, but that is what you have to do to support the UA-camr. But some people will think like Facebook, so click the dislike, meaning they don't like the subject, and aren't being nasty. Though of course there are those people who go around just being dorks and clicking dislike for the 'fun' of it. Now that is disgusting for sure.
As a primary care dentist, I have NEVER used a patient's age against them and have always made cancer towards the top of my differential diagnosis list. One case like this is one case too many!
This is so refreshing to read. Two dentists completely ignored the possibility of something serious going on with me because I'm "too young" and "not a man," and now I have no clue what to do. I'm scared something's wrong with me and it'll be too late by the time I get tested for things.
What a brilliant young lady this was for sharing this. I’ve had endoscopies which have come back negative but I do have oesophagus spasms that stop me from eating food sometimes. I’ve had it for approx 20 years. Doctors have never really been able to pinpoint what exactly is wrong with my throat or why I can’t swallow. It ranges from acid reflux to allergies to certain proteins in food. I really wanted to thank this lady for dedicating some of her time to helping others, but sadly as I read the comments I was struck with sorrow. What an absolute shame this woman is no longer with us. She didn’t deserve that.
Thank you very much for your message, my poor Christine has passed on Mei 22 2019, I'm in the most terrible tragedy that a human been can go true, it is just not to believe, the pain is every day worse, what kind of cancer your husband have had?? Thank you in advance. Carmen
To the family of this now passed young lady, inspirational...selfless, thoughtful, strong...So sorry for your great loss, thankyou for keeping this video up...🎀🎀🎀❤
i was so over joyed to see this video (i have stage 4 esophageal cancer) i related to her and at the same time felt empathy for her. But this is the end 2023, 4 years later, she has died, but it gave me...NOT hope, i already know what is coming for me...but a feeling of compassion for her and compassion is a nice feeling when most times i am feeling fear, anger, resentment towards the healthy...here she is looking so alive and good....i feel good after watching her...then i saw that she has died and my heart broke...but this is a wonderful video of; im certain, a wonderful person
Dear Steve. Hi. I'm Liz. I'm 63 and having GI and esophageal issues. I'm going for an endoscopy soon. I want to encourage you to go on you tube and type in Pastor Charles Lawson. He is a fantastic intelligent preacher of the true gospel. Listen to one or more of his sermons. He will not steer you wrong. I promise. Peace. 🙏👏✌️
Oh No. This video just broke my heart🥲♥️ I really had such great hope as my sister is battling. cancer for her 3rd time. I’ve seen miracles ⭐️ When I read the comments she had passed I really so very sad. God bless her family.
I just saw her video today 10-5-20 . I sent a message to let her know that I am praying for her . This news is not what I expected to hear at all . God bless her for her strength and courage and for sharing her story .
What a beautiful person inside and out. Helping others - even with metastatic cancer. A noble hero. RIP beautiful. Sending her family love & peace & comfort in knowing this outstanding person helped the world. ♥️
I just found this video today. I’ve had swallowing issues for months and symptoms have escalated recently. I saw a doctor at urgent care yesterday. I appreciate that he got me a referral to an ENT for two and a half weeks from now. I’m scared. Eating is uncomfortable. I need answers. I hope I haven’t waited too long to get medical help, but I was in another state caring for my mom who has cancer. Bless this woman for putting her story out there for others to benefit from. I truly saddened that she didn’t survive.
It turns out, I have stage four stomach cancer that has metastasized to my lymph nodes, liver and lungs. I wish I’d checked out my symptoms sooner. This a hard cancer, with a very grim 5 year survival prognosis of 5-6%. However, God is guiding my healing journey and leading me to alternative therapies that already have me feeling much better. My hope are high that I will get past this with a story to share and a way to help other who are suffering.
This woman has such a beautiful soul. I’m so grateful she shared her story and heart broken to read she is no longer with us. She has such a loving giving personality.
15 months ago I went through a total laryngectomy.... had 6 weeks of Radiation and Chemo that really sucked! I'm a survivor and refuse to give up, the Cancer won't define who I am!!!! I'm 63 years old .. I've been forced into retirement ... but I still ride my motorcycle, I live alone and I'm totally self-sufficient!!!! Just in the last few months, I've received a voice prosthesis and now my life rocks!!!!
Oh my gosh! Wow I just watched this video and scrolling through the comments I come to find out this beautiful brave soul passed away. May you rest in peace. Thank you so much for sharing your story before you left us. Rest in heaven
This was an excellent video. Your level of composure and the frank, straightforward information was incredibly helpful. You definitely are helping people with this. You can read all the WebMD articles you want, but hearing someone chronicle the symptoms they experienced and tests they went through is much more informative. Thank you.
🥰Thank You so much for sharing your story. Medical info from the patient can be very important information for the rest of us to know. I do hope you are doing very well. I recently moved to a new state, and will be looking for a specialist for my check up. Similar troubles. God Bless You🙏🏻
I was 27 years old the first time I was diagnosed with cancer, and just like you I was told that I was a 27 year old female that had stage 4 cancer that they only found in 65-70 yr olds that smoked two packs a day... then at age 58 I was diagnosed again with stage 4 cancer.. I had gone to see my doctor several times over a period of 6-9 months complaining about a sore throat, headache and issues swallowing, he kept putting me on high doses of antibiotics and pain meds.. he thought I had a nasal infection... things didn’t go so well.. so I totally get what’s going on for you.. one more thing was at age 50 I went to see the doc because I just felt lousy, no energy, up at night thirsty and urinating often, doc felt I was depressed so he wanted to prescribe antidepressants, I stood up and looked him square on and said draw my blood and do a complete CBC now! He called me into his office the very next day and told me I was type one diabetic that my blood sugar was 670!!! I’m surprised that he didn’t send me to the hospital immediately.. idiot!! I have always been a healthy eater, exercised often I weighed 130 most of my life... .. I’m now 62 I live off grid alone, I split several cords of firewood for heat and cooking on wood stove.. it’s hard work but it’s truly beautiful. Bless you with your journey.. I have to say doctors piss me off!!!!
This girl was articulate and beautiful and deserved to live longer! I’m sorry but the doctors have a lot to answer for. Look at what this girl had to go through. She is one of millions going through the fight to find out what’s really wrong. It’s beyond disgusting. Rest In Peace beautiful girl. You should have lived longer 😪

every night her husband put that very very hot bags on her, she was burned around all area of stomach and back, when I asked her wat that was, she said I could not feel how hot the water was, the pain was unbearable,I'm so angry so angry that you can not even imagined, they kilt my poor daughter, and the doctors go out free because I can not do anything, i even don't know the way in that country to walk in, I have no family, nobody of her contacts have contacted me, all is stolen from me, if you can imagine how angry a person get when a small thing is stolen from you, imagined your only child, a brilliant Jung intelligent with a PhD degree in neurosciences, I can not function anymore since we got the diagnose, I have had to get her funeral myself, nobody to help, nothing came true what she asked and desired,How can a mother alone in disper and broken with her only death child organized a funeral???????Christine was sure that her nice, her husband, her aunts from Vader's side would help to organize all, and so her legacy, her foundation, but never have heard from them anymore,Nobody where I tell our bitter history people start to have tears, they say one thing only: they are no human's, I'm sorry to tell you all of this, but My anger is bigger than this whole world, my anger is so big that you can not even imagine, some times me feel we can talk to the other, that what I have now with you, thanks for your note on here, poor Christine she did not deserve what she came true, her last 3 months where hell, she was in hell, nobody of her Vader's familie came to visit her in London, it is not far away tougth, Holland to London, the most people make it in the morning and back in the evening, they never came to her, poor girl, she had nobody beside me durant the day, no flower from that big familie, no kart to support her, nothing.sometimes we make extreme big mistakes with meeting with the wrong very wrong people, that was when I decided to tell her Vader that I was pregnant, there the hell became, can tell you more 500 pages what my poor girl came true, she has deserved a lovely life, she did not get it, not even with her last day on the hearth, also there was hell, because a monster that came in the room, if was today he never would have come close.I know Christine wants to get the doctors In London in the court, for sure.
I believe that there's a higher power to which they'll answer, but not on this earth. They do this to people left and right, and nothing will ever happen to them. The apathy and narcissism is rampant, and results in many deaths on a yearly basis. No one speaks about this though.

Dearest Carmen I am so sorry you have lost your beautiful daughter. sorry for your pain. she was your gift smart intelligent you must have been so proud. RIP Christine no more pain.x
God bless her soul🙏 my husband just passed from esophageal cancer it’s very painful and cruel , she is lucky she had a year, this cancer takes people very quickly , I pray they uncover a cure soon🙏
This is such a fantastic video, so grateful she shared her experience with us - it is such a scandal that doctors brush away concerns from people just because they aren't over 55.
This is so sad 😢 this is literally exactly what my mother went through, the doctor's constantly said it's nothing, did the barium tests etc, then finally found the cancer, but it was too late 😢 RIP lovely lady x
We all complain over little little aches and pains...... but honestly you are 1 of the most strongest woman I have ever seen...... my prayers are with you..... I really hope you have a speedy recovery.... STAY STRONG!
This just pisses me off! Doctors /medical field need to start taking things serious! I think we can all tell by your composure, your smarts, etc, you know what you were taking about. Positive vibes to you.
I complained to my doctor about my waist expanding. She told me to watch my diet and get an exercise ball. I switched doctors and the new one ordered an ultrasound. They found an 11 cm cyst on my ovary. Thank goodness it was benign, but what if it hadn't been? People, listen to your body. If your doctor won't take you seriously, go to another one. Don't let intimidation or a misguided sense of loyalty get in the way of your health.
My eldest brother had the same cancer, stage II. He had surgery, removing the esophagus and attached the stomach way up into the chest. The cancer came back a year later in his brain and liver . We lost him this past January. He never smoked and was 73 years old. He was a firefighter/paramedic for 35 years though. All 7 of us siblings miss him! I hope this chemo works for you Radiation worked best on him.
Unfortunately Cancer cells can grow Anywhere in the human body. One doesn’t have to smoke to get Lung cancer…just being a human being is chance enough.sadly.
Brother died from this as a young man (50) non smoker, little alcohol. They thought it was pool chemicals since he had a pool cleaning business since high school. Too bad, I really miss him. Eventually starved to death as he did not want a feeding tube. I am so blessed that I got to spend time taking care of him. That time together is so precious to me. Miss you Larry.
Gretchen So sorry, I know what you went through. My poor husband suffered with all the useless treatments. Only to have a horrific death. I will never forget what I witnessed. Take a pass on chemo. It won't help to suffer a few months longer.
If I get it I will have a peaceful exit. Oregon is a right to die state and you can get physician assisted suicide if you have a terminal illness. I used to have a hard time swallowing too but then I got my throat stretched and now I’m fine, at least I hope I am. I have acid reflux at times but I stopped in drinking coffee about a year ago and I feel better.
Unfortunately oesophageal cancer often does not present with symptoms until it is fairly advanced by which time it may have already spread. R.I.P young lady 🙏🏼
Lazy Dog True. When you get to the point when you choke on food and can't eat or drink start writing your will. Cause nothing is going to help you. Besides Cancer always returns with a vengeance.
@@lorij6796 My step father had some chest pain, he thought it might be a heart attack or heart issue. Went to hospital and after some tests and scans then a probe down the throat he was told he had 3 months to live. He died pretty much spot on that 3 months. Unfortunately by the time that type of cancer shows symptoms it has already spread to the liver, by which time there’s not a lot of hope.
I’m so sorry, thank you for sharing your story; I had a similar situation with my non caring Dr. and found out I had ovarian cancer, I’m now done with my chemo and hoping for a good outcome; stay strong and positive that goes a long way in recovering.
Having been a nurse for so long and a patient, it saddens me to hear stories like this. I’m so sorry for the misdiagnosis and I’m very sympathetic towards you and your story. Thank you for the video because we are the best advocates for our health. Sadly in the healthcare industry this happens way to frequently. God Bless you on your journey!
As a nurse, you can speak up. If you see that a doctor is being dismissive, say something. Cite cases like these. It's not hard for a doctor to order a test. But it's hard for a patient to fight phase 4 cancer later.
@@LisaMaryification A nurse can be suspended for 'inappropriate behaviour' for 18 months or more, before her case is heard. See Wikipedia UK 'Nursing and Midwifery Council', criticisms - nurse struck off, reinstated because of patient and relative demonstrations. Gagging by establishment. Can you think of a way of getting around it. You write to the patient, they report you because they believe their doctor or the professional and not you. Searching the internet and UA-cam videos takes time. Shoot the messenger of bad news, it is a reflex reaction. Please see my UA-cam channel 4 medical videos. I would value your comments. Thank you.
My dad went through the same, mis diagnosed told him it was acid reflux for 2 years until he couldnt eat, after tests found he had osophogus cancer, his cancer had spread to brain and liver, the doctor said you should have got diagnosed earlier and you may have had a chance. R,i,p dad forever loved.
Prayers for you, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. I was 26 I had a 11 pound cancerous Germ Cell tumor. The first doctor diagnosed me with Constipation. When me and my mom were leaving the nurse told us that we should go to the ER for a second opinion. She new something wasn’t right because my BP was extremely high. I’m thankful we listened to the nurse because when we arrived at the ER my BP was 210/168. They took me straight back and ran all kinds of tests. The doctor told me I hade a huge tumor, I was in kidney failure and I need to be transplanted to the trauma center. When I got there I hade emergency to remove the tumor. The doctors told my parents I got to the ER just in time or I would not be here today. I’m in remission but I have long term side effects from the chemo. Most of my time is spent at the doctors. Doctors need to take us more seriously no matter how old we are. I’ve had to many doctors tell me theirs nothing wrong with me because I’m to young or It’s all in my head. If doctors would start talking people more seriously and do all the necessary tests to rule out any medical conditions. Then maybe cancer would be caught early.
incredibly brave honest account, thankyou. In my work as general practitioner I 'll be far more aware in future of early testing in younger patients, best wishes to you for the future, stay positive and thankyou for your strength inspiring.
I ask you, as a nursing student, and daughter of a doctor and nurse, now patient seeking help, to please listen to your patients and take them seriously. This especially if they come back complaining of unresolved, worsening symptoms. Also, just because someone, especially females, may come off "fidgety or anxious," does not mean that they should be dismissed with anxiety; everyone has a different temperament and people get stressed out going to the doctor in the first place. Not everyone is cool as a cucumber.
What a beautiful soul and so giving to tell her painful story in order to save others. I’m in tears that she did not get diagnosed until it was too late. I’m having similar symptoms and I did have the endoscopy and CT scan and no cancer - thank heavens. I say a prayer for her loved ones. You could just tell from her video she was a strong and caring young person who had a whole life ahead of her if she were only listened to by her doctors.
Hi Nancy - glad to hear you are ok and didn’t have cancer, but would like to know what was your issue as I recently been having acid reflux and discomfort in my throat. Im not in pain but is discomfort along with acid reflux on occasion. My doctor kind of just said stop eating spicy food and certain citrus fruits and veggies. Would love to hear what your diagnosis was as I’m going back in to see my doctor in few weeks for a thyroid test. Thanks!
@@frankcaronna - My endoscopy showed that I have gastritis and acid reflux. I’m taking pantoprazole, but I have altered my lifestyle in that I stay away from eating spicy foods like your doctor recommended, eat small until satisfied not full, avoid alcohol, eat dinner really early, but biggest culprit was my taking ibuprofen. Now if I get a headache I only take Tylenol. I do feel a lot better. I wish you luck in getting rid of your symptoms. If yours continue definitely try doing what your doctor said and then ask for an endoscopy just to know what is happening in your body.
@@nancycook7802 Thank you for the info really appreciate your time and going in to see my doctor for thyroid test in few days and will speak to him about it. :))
What a brave and generous thing to do, creating a video will no doubt save a life. It is so easy at any age to ignore symptoms if your medical professionals are not concerned. How many stories I’ve heard of missed diagnosis, at the cost of the patient. I look forward to more videos and wish you all the best luck.

I am sorry to hear that Christine passed away just four months later on May 22, 2019. May all of the wonderful memories that her loved ones made with her eventually give them comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time. I am on my way to take my uncle to his very first doctors appointment. He was just diagnosed with throat cancer a few days ago, and he had exactly the same symptoms as you thank you for doing this video it will help us on our journey. We have our faith and we trust God.🙏😔
So sorry for your diagnosis! Im a 22 year breast cancer survivor! I pray for 100 percent healing! Thank you for sharing your journey...you will help others!
Thanks for putting your video out there. My name is Mark, and I have recently been diagnosed with esophageal cancer also. Feb 11 2019 to be exact. I really think someone should have done proper testing a long time ago. My first symptoms back in mid May 2018 were, I would have a slight burp, then a slight chest pain would slowly come in, hang there for a couple seconds, then go away. As time went on, this would happen more often, with gradually worse chest pains and upper back discomfort. This may have been the GERD. Eventually the chest pains were getting pretty bad, especially when I wake up in the middle of the night. The chest pains got bad, but didn't really hang around for very long usually. I seen a clinic around July 18 2018 about the chest pains etc. We did all the blood tests etc. and the Dr. referred me to a cardiologist, and we were to go from there. The blood work looked ok as far as cancer, however I did have high cholesterol. I was referred to a cholesterol course, which took place Nov 20. By early Oct 2018, I started to have the problem of food getting stuck in my chest area, and pain full swallowing (dysphagia). Chest pains still there as bad as ever and dysphagia, I decided to go back to the clinic end of Oct to mention my new symptoms, as I was still waiting to hear from the cardiologists. I requested to see the same doctor that I seen in July, but they sent me to a different guy instead. I explained to him the history of my symptoms and steps I have taken so far. He asks me what is your anxiety? I told him, I had none. Eventually he asks me what I think it was. I said, I'm not sure, but it COULD be cancer. Then I explained to him how my dad died at an early age of cancer. He goes to his computer and looked up some kind of fancy scientific name for anxiety, and he told me that is what I had. He said I have anxiety because of my dad dying a long time ago. (I know I had no anxiety on this, CONCERN, yes, but not anxiety. He told me to just wait until after I see the cardiologist and then we can go from there. He did at one point mention, he did not think it was a cardiology type problem and could be esophageal if anything. I didn't have anxiety, however, if I did, I think that some kind of esophageal test should have been done. Anyway, decided to wait for a while longer in hopes we can get this cardiologist thing out of the way. December 4ish, cardiologist phones and asks me a bunch of questions over the phone. To them it sounded like GERD, however they said they would get back to me. Early January 2019, the GF is getting tired of me waiting around and books me an appointment with her family doctor. Seen the doctor Jan 14, sent me for Barium x rays. Jan 18 she notifies me of a 8cm long tumor in my esophagus which could be either benign or cancerous. Jan 21 2019 CT scan. Feb 6 2019 gastroscopy and biopsy of the tumor for malignancy. Feb 11 2019, Yip, its cancer. Wait, wait, wait, got a consultation appointment for Feb 25 2019 with a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in a couple days from now, also booked in for a PET Scan for Mar 7 2019, to find out what stage, (I can only imagine). I think this waiting around just might get me eventually. I know this is a long comment, but it really could help someone. I did not find this kind of info about my symptoms in the early stages. Oh, by the way, the Cardiologist office phoned me Jan 21 to book me in for an appointment on Jan 25. I told them I no longer need their services as it is a tumor. That was pretty much a 6 month wait. Anyway, really plan to do battle on this thing as soon as things get started, I have drastically changed the eating habits.
Hi Mark, I am soooo so so very sorry for your journey so far. I am hoping and crossing fingers and praying for you that you don't have any metastasis like me. Nonetheless, and regardless of whether or not you do you are right: lets battle this! We can do it and I so appreciate your super long comment. I agree it should help someone else. I wish so much that I had seen a comment like yours when I was crying over the sink/bin/toilet (after dysphasia) when someone would figure out what was wrong. I think it is remarkable that in your case too they gave it the anxiety label. It seems to be the go to for stuff that isn't clear and to avoid expensive tests. Then again how expensive is a test compared to the long treatments we go through, and the life altering craziness? I think there is a lot wrong with how diagnostics work, and I just wish that in 2018, when I started having a gut feeling (that is all, I had no symptoms) I would have taken myself for a private CT test just to calm the voice in my head. I didn't and I wish I had because without question it was already there. Anyhow, back to you: I am glad you are also tackling your diet. I have as well. I was always healthy but did have a 5 year period of not-so-healthy life (not just diet, but also lifestyle, sleep, work, etc). Cancer, I believe, is a very multi faceted issue and when people tackle a lot of areas in their lives at once, they seem to do better and live longer. Again, let's do this together. I know we can! contact me anytime you want to talk, vent, or discuss treatment options. I've discovered we are our own best doctors.
I hope all is going well with you too. I never realized that there was so much waiting in between tests and meetings with doctors etc. I guess I'm not the only one with issues. I had my consultation with the doctor yesterday. He didn't really tell me anything that I didn't already know, however I am now referred to a cancer clinic for once my PET scan is done. That is one thing he told me, if it hasn't spread, it would be chemo and radiation for two months, then one month wait, then surgery possibly. I like to keep positive, however, if I were to bet money on this thing, I would say it has probably spread, just because it has been with me for so long. I also like to be prepared. I don't have much fear, although I have had my moments. Just thought I would give you a little update. I really hope things are going well for you still. Oh, by the way, I am 54, male, who did used to smoke way back about 16 or more years ago. @@biohazardgirl7465

I have barret's esophagus diagnoses and I have started to experience tingling, numbness, and tension in my upper back. My doctor thinks it is anxiety. I was scoped a year ago with no cancer or dysplasia, but the upper back sensations are new. What was the nature of your upper back discomfort (if you don't mind me asking)? I certainly hope you make a full recovery.
I’m a GI (endoscopy) nurse. It infuriates me that they didn’t send her for a CT or a scope sooner! Grrr! I see GI cancer every week & it happens to young adults all the time. Don’t let your doc put you off. If you have swallowing issues or GERD (acid relic), insist on a scope! Worse case scenario it cost you money. Best course scenario it saves your life❣️
i have no health insurance. im in so much pain my eyes well up when i eat or drink. not every time i eat but id say 80%. i had thyroid cancer about 6 years ago and im feeling worn down again. i also have 3 very hard lymph nodes along the right side of my neck in a line each about the size of big lima beans. i also have noticed swelling along the base of my skull. i also have swollen lymph nodes behind both knees. i have addisons, type 2 diabetic, both types of arthritis and a few other things so im hoping its just one of those causing my problems.
In a dr. office you are the boss, it is your body ,it your body nobody can know more about it than you. The dr, is there to give your feed back, dont let Dr. impose his supposed knowledge over your symptoms. Each human came here with a genetic story, be it children or adult, they cant put your in basket.
Fucking hate it. Anxiety my ass. I’ve been dealing with tremors, shortness of breath , back pain and chest pain reflux , stomach discomfort . Told it’s anxiety
I don't even know how to put into words my respect for this young woman to have documented her journey, beginning with this video, which will no doubt help many, many others for years to come.
I've had these symptoms for a long time. But I also have CRPS, a neurological pain disease. You are right about doctors brushing off women, sending us for psychological treatment.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm a man and they brush me off too. They just label every complaint I ever have as symptoms of anxiety or an infection and send me on my way.
Thank you for your honesty and sharing your story. I’m 77 and have been dealing with Gerd for several years . But in the last couple of months I have had trouble swallowing. And my tongue is swollen as is the esophagus at the back of my throat . I will soon be having an endoscopy to find out what is going on . They say that by the time we display the symptoms I have been having , at my age it has a greater chance of being cancer . I don’t plan on doing chemo. If I were younger like you , that would be an option. I would like to pray for your complete recovery. Also keep in touch on this site so we can cheer you on. You have an excellent chance of beating this cancer .We are praying for a miracle for you . 🌹

My doctor told me three years at MDAnderson first....but I went to other clinics and got other opinions and kept fighting. I understand the up and down days....bless you to have more up days. There are so many people fighting cancer.
I'm so sorry to hear she passed away. I lost my mom to esophageal cancer and my first husband to melanoma. It shouldn't have mattered that she was female and only 34. She presented symptoms and they were more or less dismissed. Doctors need to listen to their female patients. It's not "anxiety" or "PMS" or whatever females get stereotyped with. If she was diagnosed early she might be here today. So tragic.
I feel like crying not following up sooner. I've been so busy with work and my trip that I haven't watched my notifications. I hope you rest in peace. xoxo
Oh no. I pray that she has peace now with the Lord. Thanks for bringing this kind of awareness to those who may have this kind of concern. I often feel I have something stuck inside the right side of my throat. I think I’m going to have it checked out. I’m so so sorry to hear that she passed.
Pete Dremel it’s so very sad that the world lost such a young woman who was so very brave to come on here and share her story to raise awareness. However yes.....if in any doubt please get it checked. I have some symptoms that I’ve been experiencing and I’m most definitely going to get checked after watching this. Good luck and I do hope any tests you get come back negative and with a very good result for you.🙏
Thanks for putting your story out there. This video has re motivated me to continue to investigate. I can't eat food unless I chugg a lot of water. My body just reverse swallows it right back into my mouth. I went for the borium test a year ago and they said it was probably indigestion. I can't help but think I have bigger issues. I'll be calling a doctor in the morning. I'm a 35 year old male, fit, healthy and not a smoker. May the Lord bless you for helping people through this comment section. I will pray for your healing and for strength and hope for each day.
thank you so much!! really praying for you that you do not have bigger issues, but yes get checked out. the Barium swallow turned out NOT to be the best diagnostic test for this! A variety of doctors have also confirmed this, but that's hindsight. however, do do do go get checked out!

thank you for sharing! I was 44 and diagnosed with stage 3c colon cancer. My friend's boyfriend died of esophageal cancer within a few months. My stepmom survived an extremely rare form of breast cancer and on and on. It was good for me to hear about your experience. I have GERD and a small patch of barrets syndrome. I get checked every year for esophageal cancer and for lung cancer and every five years now for colon cancer. I had a 12% chance of survival with colon cancer and I incredibly survived. My heart and hope go out to you. Keep making videos to help others. please. Dawn
Years ago I had trouble swallowing which required an outpatient procedure to dilate my esophagus. Scar tissue had built up at its base from acid reflux and nearly closed it off. Knowing that this can lead to esophageal cancer, when I had my most recent colonoscopy, I insisted on getting an endoscopy at the same time to see if any of the scar tissue had developed cancer. Thankfully, the site looked fine, and a biopsy came back normal. Greatly relieved.
I'm sorry to hear about your cancer, especially that you knew something was wrong yet the doctor didn't dig deeper. I worked as a Oncology Certified Nurse Researcher directly with cancer patients, oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pharmacists, all the disciples at the cancer center, as well as the families, friends, and loved ones involved. I saw the same things happen when it came to a diagnosis for many different cancers. My goal was to listen to people when they tell me how they feel then to dig deeper because there are signs and symptoms that weren't always thought of as important. When I became a nurse I vowed to treat people with the love I had for my own family. It wasn't always easy, but it sure was worth it! I hope and pray as you go through your treatments that everyone that is involved with your care will be knowledgeable, present in each moment, and treat you with compassion and kindness. Thank you for sharing your story. I believe it will cause more awareness in people to inquire and insist on answers when they seek medical treatment and for the professionals to listen more, ask more questions, and not simply give into statistics when assessinga persons needs. We are all unique in genetic, environmental, and personal selves. We live in our own skin 24/7 and know when something is not quite right. My prayers and thoughts are with you. You are a Beautiful person inside and out to share your story at this time. 🙏 Mari Lee 🦋
I am so sorry for your loss. Yep even my ear pain was “caused” by stress until I demanded and was not going to leave until they took a better look. Found something. Same clinic said I was “too young” to have broken my arm after a fall and refused X-ray. Following weeks of excruciating pain another doctor found I had crushed my shoulder into pieces. I watched this as I now have daily soar throat and difficulty swallowing. I will not put it off any longer.
your broken arm story really hit home for me, when I was a young teenager I fell off a skateboard and my arm hurt so bad and swelled up, but my dad and everyone else said i didn't have a broken arm, well it turned out I had a depression fracture, which is basically a broken arm. That took 3 days of pain until it was treated. The point it that the 'science' of medicine is very primitive even to the most accomplished of them. People expect too much of the profession and doctors and the health care industry contribute to this false expectation. that said, I too have an issues eating food and at times cannot keep it down and that is what led me to this video. Obviously I was very disappointed to hear the young lady had succumbed to the illness. I'm 61 and have endured the condition for at least 7+ years so am pretty sure if it was cancer I would have been killed from it by now. My mothers second husband died from this disease about a year after diagnosis so I think it moves pretty fast. On the other hand a relative who was a thoracic surgeon also had a condition which constricted the esophagus and he treated himself by expanding it periodically. It's easy to blame others when times are tough, but sometimes it's just fate.
Hi Christine. My Uncle lived through esophegeal cancer. He had part his esophegus removed and they reattached his stomach to his esophagus. He went through treatment and then lived for many years after that. I sincerely hope the best for you. ❤🙏

I appreciate your story! I know exactly what it was like being told you have anxiety only to find out differently and dramatically life changing. It’s both a relief and like hitting a brick wall all at once. Your story will help others and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to hear it. There needs to be better prescreening, better gene testing, better monitoring, and most importantly better preventive care. Insurance companies don’t like to pay for preventive, they’d rather you be near death and have to pay very little. Hospitals won’t treat anything but emergencies. When you don’t have insurance you get nothing done and die from the lack of proper care and treatment. Doctors don’t like ordering tests because they assuming nothing is wrong, and eventually things never get better and require more testing. By that point it’s usually too late. Sometimes the body just doesn’t reveal itself, and could be the last minute before it finally comes to light. When you are suffering from secondary, a third, a fourth, and many other conditions, some may overlap and more hide the others. We need better preventive care that monitors our daily health. Technology, devices for home use used in screening etc. by now we sure have enough data to support better screening and detection methods.,
I hope you are feeling stronger & getting better! I’ve been having trouble swallowing even water, for several weeks- I have reflux & out it off on that. But I will call my gastro tomorrow because you shared this. Thank you- imagine all the people you’ve helped!
Omg this brings me to tears. My mom too was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that had spread to her lymphnodes. She was misdiagnosed from multiple doctors because they all assumed she was a healthy lady and could only be indigestion. She was IGnored for months hell even years from her doctors, she knew something was wrong and nobody would listen. Finally she was diagnosed January 21, 2019 and passed away December 9, 2019. My mom did everything right. I don’t understand how this shit can continue to happen
A superb, clear and concise video. Massive respect. I wish I was as eloquent and wise as you. I truly hope you're doing well and get better soon. Subbed. Edit: I'm so so sorry. Rest In Peace Christine. My Prayers go out to her and her family.
My brother-in-law is currently battling Stage 4 esophageal cancer of the distal esophagus like you. And good news! He is responding to chemotherapy! At your age and the fact that you COULD HAVE been diagnosed in a less advanced stage, it would be hard for me not to get an attorney and slam one or more of those doctors with failure to diagnose. Young people DO get cancer so when you are reporting significant symptoms and failure to improve with conservative measures, doctors need to be reminded that young lives matter.
I’m so sorry you are sick. It’s especially upsetting that it took so much precious time to diagnose. I pray you will respond well with the chemo. I’m praying for your recovery. Thank you for sharing with us. You are a brave young woman. God bless you.🙏🏼
Probably people that would not have chosen chemo or radiation. Still, such folks should be more understanding and recognize that medical treatment is a personal decision.
I've had esophageal dysmotility, EoE and dysphagia that's bad. I have been on an all liquid diet since January 2023. Esophageal issues and not being able to eat solid food is not easy. I've had the whole issue overall since 2021. I really admire all of these cancer fighters you are an inspiration! I always insist on an endoscopy at least once a year. Esophageal issues are very under the radar and need more attention in the medical field. I can't believe they didn't do an endoscopy first! The barium swallow didn't show my stricture or anything when I actually had one.
Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail your symptoms and treatment. Someone will be diagnosed and helped earlier because of you. God Bless you. I hope you are cancer free soon.

What kind of person would thumbs down this video? She is amazing and beautiful!!!
13 and 14 year old boys probably.
Probably a health care “professional”
Lettermansgirl she passed away in May of this year so sad 😭 😢
As a primary care dentist, I have NEVER used a patient's age against them and have always made cancer towards the top of my differential diagnosis list. One case like this is one case too many!
This is so refreshing to read. Two dentists completely ignored the possibility of something serious going on with me because I'm "too young" and "not a man," and now I have no clue what to do. I'm scared something's wrong with me and it'll be too late by the time I get tested for things.
Thank you for your service, knowledge, and common sense.
Cancer does not discriminate against age, and doctors/ dentists shouldn't either.
LIER, none of the DDS or hygienists check for ca. They just worry about $$$
What a brilliant young lady this was for sharing this.

She died. She was way too optimistic.

I believe that there's a higher power to which they'll answer, but not on this earth. They do this to people left and right, and nothing will ever happen to them. The apathy and narcissism is rampant, and results in many deaths on a yearly basis. No one speaks about this though.

@@balackjack42 Hi again Mark! so nice to hear from you! First of all: forget the smoking. I never did and I got this. Don't blame yourself, first of all, and yes try to stay calm. I think mental mindset is super important in these situations and we need to try and train our brain to be as positive as possible. I so appreciate hearing from you! I am crossing my fingers and toes for you and hope it is just localized. :) Even if not, there is always a lot of hope!
@@balackjack42 Forgot to say: yes I am doing reasonably well, thank you!! Today is my next round of chemo! enjoying a bit of sun on a patio waiting for my friend who is coming to throw a chemo party with me!
When you say scope does that mean endoscopy?

@Scott Dancer Same and I tried telling them yes I’m having anxiety but I’m having anxiety because I’m experiencing symptoms I’m not used to
I don't even know how to put into words my respect for this young woman to have documented her journey, beginning with this video, which will no doubt help many, many others for years to come.

Glad she made this video to be remembered by and teaching us about this disease and the journey
What a freaking tragedy. What a courageous young woman. What a hugely important video.
Heartbroken, just discovered this beautiful lady rest easy
I'm so sorry to hear she passed away. I lost my mom to esophageal cancer and my first husband to melanoma. It shouldn't have mattered that she was female and only 34. She presented symptoms and they were more or less dismissed. Doctors need to listen to their female patients. It's not "anxiety" or "PMS" or whatever females get stereotyped with. If she was diagnosed early she might be here today. So tragic.

Oh no. I pray that she has peace now with the Lord. Thanks for bringing this kind of awareness to those who may have this kind of concern. I often feel I have something stuck inside the right side of my throat. I think I’m going to have it checked out. I’m so so sorry to hear that she passed.

I will pray for your healing and for strength and hope for each day.
thank you so much!! really praying for you that you do not have bigger issues, but yes get checked out. the Barium swallow turned out NOT to be the best diagnostic test for this! A variety of doctors have also confirmed this, but that's hindsight. however, do do do go get checked out!

boyfriend died of esophageal cancer within a few months. Keep making videos to help others. please. Dawn
From the other comments this women passed away a few years ago unfortunately.
Yeah...she did...
Having this done on Monday. Not gonna lie, I’m scared to death, not bc of the procedures, but the results..
Good luck, Jackie! I had the same worry, but getting cleared gave me great peace of mind. I hope you get the same.

She passed away last year
I am so sorry for your loss.
This woman was very brave and we appreciate her information for all of us.
Ive worried about myself often, i want to thank her for telling her story, im going to make dr test me more

Disabitlies people neglected their health it was not their fault. They keep come back to see their doctor. 85% Doctor often neglected disabilities. lawsuit can be complications.
sometimes!many times, not with corona they are killing us!sorry for your loss
And that's why Doctors pay so much yearly in malpractice insurance.
Smh, I’m so sorry. What kind of cancer did he have?
Technology, devices for home use used in screening etc. by now we sure have enough data to support better screening and detection methods.,
She's a lovely woman. Bless her heart.

I sure hope he makes it.

Esophageal issues are very under the radar and need more attention in the medical field. I can't believe they didn't do an endoscopy first!
