I have stage 4 Esophageal cancer. Diagnosed in January 2022. June 2022 the tumor is gone. I completely changed my diet and lifestyle. High dose vitamin C with chemo and immunotherapy. Hoping next scan in Sept are without tumor as well.
How are you going now? May I ask how old you are? I am 54 years old, diagnosed a year ago. I had chemo/radiotherapy, oesophagectomy and now am on immunotherapy once a fortnight. Nivolumab. It has its long list of side effects but that must mean it's working. All the best.
I'm an oncology nurse and I once had a patient who had indigestion and heartburn for years and never mentioned it to his MD. We treated him for about 3 years with every kind of chemo/immunotherapy but he died from the disease. Really nice guy. Please seek medical attention for these symptoms should they occur. There's no reason not to!
The only help I'vebeen offered after suffering with it for years, is medications that cause lower intestinal problems that are hard to deal with in my work setting. So I'm dosing myself with tums or baking soda frequently. It's been a lose-lose situation for me.
Years of acid reflux eventually resulted in a bleeding ulcer. After treatment, I was given medications for Acid Reflux control and due to this possibly causing Esophageal Cancer, I had an Endoscopy annually. After one of these procedures,' cancer was found. It was small and considered Stage 1. However, at that time, the best treatment was a major surgery. Most of my esophagus was removed and part of my stomach. The remainder of my stomach was stretched up to reconnect to my esophagus. I spent 11 days in I.C.U. All went well except a nerve that controls one side of my vocal cords was severed when the esophagus was removed. The result was this one side never closed while trying to speak. My volume was very low, and I would get exhausted due to losing air while trying to increase my volume. This was eventually corrected with another surgery, that inserted a prosthesis wedge that keeps the damaged vocal cord in the closed position. The cancer surgery was done in 2012. I was told if I survived 5 years without any re-occurrence, I could expect to live a normal life span. It seems like a lot to go through for a one-millimeter cancer tumor, however without the surgery, I was given maybe only a year to live. Esophageal Cancer can be very aggressive. All is well and my checkup procedures are now every three years. I'll turn 74 in February. I guess I'm looking forward to a normal life span. Every day is a blessing. I thank God for each day.

Omg this really scares me......I complained about heartburn for 2 yrs straight they would prescribed me different antacids such as pantroprozle and famatodine they all made me fell bloated and full probiotics didn't work either.........My symptoms was feeling full, food stuck in throat (difficulty swallowing), extreme heartburn, could never sleep laying flat even after waiting 4hrs after a meal, just seems like no matter what I ate gave me heartburn, coughing after I ate or drank anything, nausea, vomiting and heart palpations and chest pain really scary........What they found were a hertial hernia, barretts esophagus with low grade dysplasia I had a scope 9/2022......But the first thing he said is barretts esophagusis a precancerous stage of esophageal cancer and it has to be watched so I have another scope 3/2023........I had to share everybody's symptoms are different but this was my experience.......
I'm wishing you all the very best. I was diagnosed about a year ago after I couldn't swallow. My GP, sent me to do one test after another then finally the endoscopy showed cancer. Now I am on immunotherapy to ensure the beast doesn't return.

Acid reflux therefore being the main cause, but not the primer. The primer from my own experience is diet, I have tried multiple things to eliminate acid reflux and found one main cause…SUGAR. Sugar has become so refined and in abundance in much of our food and drink and in great quantity within drink/ cereals/ cakes/ sweets etc. Since I stopped intake of sugar or at least the majority of it (90%) my reflux has gone. My diet has become bland as a result but have taken to alternative sweeteners such as stevia for drink and foods containing salads with low fat meats like chicken and fish and even a curry are better for you.
I have acid reflux disease Gerd I take omeprazole to keep the acid form coming up in my throat I do have those symptoms of postnasal drip and clearing of the throat, I been on this medication for 5 years now! Should I get this esophagoscope?
Did you get the scope done? I too have been taking omeprazole for 35+ yrs for my reflux due to hiatus hernia diagnosed 57 yrs ago! I have had sinus/post nasal drip for several yrs also. Have to clear my throat and voice is froggy after eating. I suffer from tinnitus too for last 15 yrs and wonder if it is connected. It disrupts my sleep pattern. I read awhile ago that if you have reflux disease you will most likely get throat cancer! This is scary to think about..🤔👩🏻🦰🇨🇦
Hoarseness, hard to swallow solid food and could only drink were a couple of symptoms but the main issue I had before diagnoses of esophageal cancer that I haven't seen mentioned was my ears ached along with sore throat. I couldn't swallow pills so I took Alka Seltzer cold and flu tablets you dissolve in water. I think my inner ears throbbed because my tumor was very high in esophagus by my voice box and my sinuses couldn't drain properly.
I'm doing great. My slowing hasn't really improved but my scans only show two spots on my right lung that haven't grown or changed since 2019. Thanks so much for asking. I am so sorry about your husband's passing. The reality of this cancer is overwhelming. 😞❤️
My mother is battling esophageal cancer that is in the upper part of her throat. And just like you say, ears and back of her head hurt like hell. She’s only 48 and stage 2 but doctors say it’s inoperable because it’s too high… So after unsuccessful radiotherapy all they can do is chemo now…Did you have a surgery in your case?
That is what I have been diagnosed with years ago had something called a fundlication. I got pre cancer of the esophagus. I get scoped every three years and on stomach meds.
I have had GERD and acid reflux for several years. I recently was diagnosed with Barrett’s Esophagus and told it is precancerous. My gastroenterologist said they need to test it every 2 years to watch for cancer. Please tell me why it can’t be treated while it is precancerous and that I have to wait until it is cancer? My gastroenterologist did a colonoscopy and endoscopy but I just found out it was a lower endoscopy. I recently told her at times my throat is a little horse sounding and when I swallow I feel something move on the upper right side of my throat. If I swallow while my head is turned to the left I feel that movement that is like a shifty feeling. She is now going to do an upper endoscopy and said it could be zanker something. I’m really very afraid because I have to wait to get treated once it turns to cancer😢 Do I need to request to see a ENT doctor for the scope through my nose? How can I insist if my primary doctor says I can’t get a referral until I get an ultrasound of my neck? That’s exactly the case. The ultrasound is in 2 weeks.
@@Judethecat1878 My wife does. She has to have an endoscopy under general sedation every year to screen for cancer since Barrett's is a risk factor for esophageal cancer. She doesn't do well coming out of general anesthesia so the TNE looked much easier than a traditional endoscopy.
Tell her to take omeprozole every morning 1 hour before food and completely stop drinking alcohol an see if it clears up barrett's esophagus does go away trust me am living proof
For anyone diagnosed with this horrific disease and undergoing immunotherapy. Have the Akkermansia bacteria in your body checked! If you are deficient, the immuno drugs will stop working. Supplementing will lead to immunotherapy working again. My father passed to this heartbreaking disease. I feel the radiation treatment caused his death. Immunotherapy stopped working, therefore leading to radiation as the next step. At the time I was unaware of Akkermansia being a key factor in successful immunotherapy outcomes. From what I have witnessed, diet and lifestyle are key to survival as well. Praying for a cure for all cancer!
It’s basically from smoking 🚬 obesity, poor diet, and reflux. Heartburn is the initial start of problem. I developed this situation about 4 months ago. It’s gotten better. No more spicy food for me. It’s awful…I believe coffee, soda, chocolate and foods that are hard to swallow are the initial cause of this situation. We have no idea what is in our food these days. Be sure to exercise, eat fruits and vegetables daily and stay away from foods that can cause gerd, reflux or heartburn
I have non erosive esophagitis. I have to eat regularly, no coffee, keep stress levels down etc I also have sinus drip due to year round allergies. My whole family has drip etc. it’s worse with dairy and gluten
Would it be best to have more than one specialist GI specialist and ENT specialist???? I have GERD and Erosion Esophagus; with it I sometimes have sore throats and lump in throat. It seems when I go to an GI specialist , I am on my third specialist, but this doc , only does testing on patients. He doesn't sit down with patients.
My dad died of this in 2018. He didn’t drink alcohol or smoke. He did however, suffer from reflux daily. Unfortunately he didn’t tell me or his doctor so other than OTC meds, it was never treated.
This video wasn't organized very well to keep things straightforward for the viewer. Forward to 2:40 for the symptoms. Its acid reflux as mentioned at the start, then a bunch or 'normal' things that are of concern if they don't go away in short order or they keep re-appearing regularly.
I have Achelasia. POEM surgery in 21. This caused Mega esophagus and sigmoid shaped esophagus. POPE surgery three times in 7 months. If you have problems keeping food down or food getting stuck. GERD or chest pain when swallowing, then see a Gastro specialist. Not a regular Gastro doctor.....Look up symptoms of Achelasia. Its rare but you may have it.
What causes feeling pain and food not going down easily? Seems rushing food into throat too fast triggers what feels like too much going down at one time. You know it reaches stomach when pain subsides.
My mother in law have this horrible disease she got misdiagnosed for acid reflux now she can’t eating nothing at all her body rejecting her feeding tube she starving to death and in a lot of pain it’s hard to see her suffer now she on hospice and their giving her days to live 🙏🙏🙏😭😭😭
I had a cough after eating for a few years but no indigestion. Recently oil experienced pressure behind my breastbone and a couple of bouts of extreme pain in the centre of my chest. I have been diagnosed with Barrett's oesophagus and had biopsys taken. I'm a bit concerned. Are there any dietary rules that I should follow?
Although the video doesn't make it clear what is the actual cause of EC, it seems to imply that acid reflux is the culprit. So, it sounds like we have to determine the cause(s) of acid reflux and stop it in order to avoid esophogeal cancer.
I went to the dentist and came down with trush. My doctor gave me antibiotics. Anyway it came back a week later. So I tried the Arm and Hammer with baking soda toothpaste, it went away. Never came back. Gargle with baking soda too.

Only way to know is to get a scope. My dad was recently diagnosed with this. Had chest pain and difficulty swallowing for about a month before he decided to get checked on, best of luck to u
Hey Chris, I'm not a Doctor but if you have had acid reflux for 3 months I would say that you don't have cancer but you should see your Doctor ASAP. Sound like you might have GERD or just acid reflux but either way you need to change you diet to prevent in from becoming GERD if it hasn't already & GERD can lead to Cancer so you need to find out what is going on to make some lifestyle changes for your health.
The title of this video is *What is the Main Cause of Esophageal Cancer* . Nowhere in this clickbait video is that question addressed, let alone aswered.
Ditto - no fun at all. However, my doctor is not concerned about esophageal cancer. In my case food allergies seem to be driving it: it started with orange juice nearly 40 years ago, then shellfish replaced OJ, than any acidic liquids, then Chinese food (MSG?) and for the last five years or so chicken does it most of the time. Sipping water between each bite mostly controls it.

My diet has become bland as a result but have taken to alternative sweeteners such as stevia for drink and foods containing salads with low fat meats like chicken and fish and even a curry are better for you.
Post nasal drip and clearing throat are very common with allergies and colds. I have these symptoms all year round.
This is scary to think about..🤔👩🏻🦰🇨🇦
My late husband ďied a horrible death from Esophageal cancer brought me here.
God bless you.
So sorry ❤
Same with my father. It was a very cruel death for someone so kind. 😢
How terrible for you. How are you now.
Vrodify67
How are you doing? My husband had this cancer passed 8yrs ago.
I'm hoping there is better treatments for you!
I'm doing great. My slowing hasn't really improved but my scans only show two spots on my right lung that haven't grown or changed since 2019.
Thanks so much for asking. I am so sorry about your husband's passing. The reality of this cancer is overwhelming. 😞❤️

Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.
What kind of Specialist did you go too???????
@@debbiec6216 I assume she went to a gastroenterologist.
I was same place 20 yrs ago after 20 yrs of acid reflux and antacids . It’s called Barrett’s esophagus.
My brother died from this horrible cancer, within about 8 mos. The cancerous tumor broke his jaw and went to his brain
I do hope you are doing well 🙏

Is TNE appropriate for annual screening of patients with Barrett's Esophagus?
Hey do you have barrett's esophagus?
Traci Braxton was diagnosed with this cancer, and I'm interested what it is.
@@averyfisher9967 so sad

I have non erosive esophagitis. I have to eat regularly, no coffee, keep stress levels down etc I also have sinus drip due to year round allergies. My whole family has drip etc. it’s worse with dairy and gluten
good info and ad, but you never answered the question proposed by your video title
My Husband died from esophageal cancer, 7 months after diagnosis, 53 so sad, miss him everyday
My dad died of this in 2018. He didn’t drink alcohol or smoke. He did however, suffer from reflux daily. Unfortunately he didn’t tell me or his doctor so other than OTC meds, it was never treated.
Traci Braxton brought me here 🤦🏿♀️

Weird. Your title is wrong as you don't cover the main cause. ?????
This video wasn't organized very well to keep things straightforward for the viewer. Forward to 2:40 for the symptoms. Its acid reflux as mentioned at the start, then a bunch or 'normal' things that are of concern if they don't go away in short order or they keep re-appearing regularly.
My nephew died September 3 from this horrible disease 😞
So sorry. My condolences. 💔🙏💔
My uncle died September 5 from it as well. His funeral was today. My condolences to you and your family.

My first cousin died from this we were approximately the same age, very sad
Still waiting to hear the answer of the clickbait question 😡
It’s acid reflux.
I’m so sorry. This cancer sounds awful…
When I swallow food , i feel pain in the upper right back below my shoulder blade 😭
would drinking a hot beverage such as coffee (decaf) cause this ?
I had a cough after eating for a few years but no indigestion. Recently oil experienced pressure behind my breastbone and a couple of bouts of extreme pain in the centre of my chest. I have been diagnosed with Barrett's oesophagus and had biopsys taken. I'm a bit concerned. Are there any dietary rules that I should follow?
Olá, sua dor no peito melhorou?
Although the video doesn't make it clear what is the actual cause of EC, it seems to imply that acid reflux is the culprit. So, it sounds like we have to determine the cause(s) of acid reflux and stop it in order to avoid esophogeal cancer.
Brother passed away with this he had acid for years always on antacids for years check out early
Can getting thrush too much lead to throat cancer?
I went to the dentist and came down with trush. My doctor gave me antibiotics. Anyway it came back a week later. So I tried the Arm and Hammer with baking soda toothpaste, it went away. Never came back. Gargle with baking soda too.
Smoking I had a neighbor who smoked and in 1965 he was about 50 years old and they had to take his voice box out

I want to know the Root Cause of Esophageal Cancer ?
HPV is a factor
I miss you Fred !
I have been getting acid reflux for the last three months . In the last couple of weeks I have been getting a strange burp with a hiccup after it several times a day . Could this be esophagus cancer ?
Same here doctor referred me to a Gastroenterologist... you should also consult with a doctor be safe and take care of your self
Only way to know is to get a scope. My dad was recently diagnosed with this. Had chest pain and difficulty swallowing for about a month before he decided to get checked on, best of luck to u
How are you going now?
Hey Chris, I'm not a Doctor but if you have had acid reflux for 3 months I would say that you don't have cancer but you should see your Doctor ASAP. Sound like you might have GERD or just acid reflux but either way you need to change you diet to prevent in from becoming GERD if it hasn't already & GERD can lead to Cancer so you need to find out what is going on to make some lifestyle changes for your health.
I had this and was because of a hernia
Thank You
Going to get checked out
Tracie braxton brought me here
Its been 4 months now since my partner past way so roor
The title of this video is *What is the Main Cause of Esophageal Cancer* . Nowhere in this clickbait video is that question addressed, let alone aswered.
Ummmm the "cause" being?
Elephant in room.... health professionals know about it and give knowing glances to each other... Oral sex. No one seems to talk about it
thats if you contact the virus, there are other causes
Called HPV I think
Yes. That can be a cause. Happened to a friend.
Thank you.
The main cause is what you eat!!! Don't eat factory food!!!! 😊
Thanks
This is definitely cured if caught early
Obesity and chemicals in food.

@@DavidgGerstel acid reflux
I have ACHALASIA
Ditto - no fun at all. However, my doctor is not concerned about esophageal cancer. In my case food allergies seem to be driving it: it started with orange juice nearly 40 years ago, then shellfish replaced OJ, than any acidic liquids, then Chinese food (MSG?) and for the last five years or so chicken does it most of the time. Sipping water between each bite mostly controls it.
Hi Donna , sorry to hear about ur Achalasia . It is a nasty thing to have . I have had it for the past 22 years . Been on meds , which have been stopped now as they do not help any longer / in any way . Chest pains n spasms r unbearable . How long have u had this n may I know what country u r from . I am from South India .
Isn't HPV one of the main causes?
Alcohol
Have never seen this disease without a lot of alcohol intake.
Alcohol breaks down into pure sugar.
IT'S ALCOHOL!
My died died from it but did not drink alchohol.
Swallowing
lies
I have difficulty swallowing, globus sensation, mild cough that wont go away. Another symptom that I never see mentioned is that my throat tightens when I laugh too much, so I end up having a coughing fit when being tickled. Anyway I have GERD and just diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus woth no dysplasia.
