@@seffssweetsstitches2897 I have adjusted the timing on a few different Kenmore’s. First you need to make sure that timing is the problem and it’s not something mimicking a timing problem. You do that by checking your timing, I have a couple videos on checking timing. Next provided it is a timing problem you need to know whether the hook or the needle bar is the problem. Then from there you can start making adjustments depending on which machine you have.
I have a 298, an equivalent of the 216g and 316g based on the videos I've seen showing the face and back mechanism of these 2. The pattern cam you adjusted here is in the front on my machine and is put in 1 by 1. The left-right needle position (at center) is adjusted by a screw at the back. I have a problem of the needle striking the back of the hole in the throat plate. I have 2 videos describing this issue in detail on my channel if that will help you understand better. Is it possible for the needle bar to bend; I haven't sewn any heavy fabric ever, not even denims or quilt. Is there any adjustment that can be done to move the needle/needle bar forward to align with the plate?
Thank you for these videos. While I haven't had this specific issue I have a T&S 750 so I enjoy seeing thr repair process.
Really great video, thank you.
Have you ever done timing on a 1970s Sears Kenmore? I have one that I need to adjust.
