That's my sweet Dad with the lead vocal starting at 00:47 to 01:14 and then again at 02:13 through to the end. His singing brings chills sometimes. Bass singer Ray Walker with the lead at the beginning.
Alan, I wrote your dad and the group in the early 80s while in college. He sent a me a very nice letter and gift and autographs of all the group members. He didn’t have to do that but he was very kind and gracious. Mr. Hoyt Hawkins brother used to cut my hair with Mr. Charlie Hamilton. They had a great regional quartet and I always got a good Jordanires story.
How does this not have more views? I found this last year still loving it, Elvis, and gospel music. Hearing this makes one appreciate the talent God gives us all❤.
I just discovered these guys today. I'm 40 and it makes me so happy. I love their songs with Elvis too Dang the tenor has some Freddie Mercury energy .
Such a classic. Too bad the picture doesn't represent the members singing on this recording. Ray walker, not Hugh Jarret, as pictured, is singing bass. Alan Stoker he has a very comforting voice!
Alan--loved your Dad's voice....his falsetto was unworldly...loved him on Elvis's gospel albums.

Swing low sweet Gordon Stoker You had an amazing career and now you are home with Him. God bless. - JG
Their tone is wonderful!! You can just close your eyes and feel the spirit as they sing!
What a version, thanks for uploading.
Warms the heart
Love the harmony. First heard them on Elvis' Long Legged Girl on a 45rpm of my sisters back in the 70s.
Hugh was a very nice man, he was my guitar players Grandfather. This is probably the best I've gotten to hear Hugh. Very nice upload.
Did you ever listen to the harmony of this dirge? If you get there before I do?
Coming for to carry us home...

Bill went out with Janet, Christain and I singing him this song. This was a song we were sung many times as children.

Hated it when I heard Gordon had passed.
