Hey Sav, I'm a 4th year medical student. High potassium can be very dangerous for sure but I would assume if your levels were VERY high your OBGYN (she was a PHYSICIAN, right?) would send you to the ER immediately. However, yes, please see a primary care soon. Having only potassium high and nothing else out of whack is indeed interesting. Keeping a food, water/other beverages intake, and urination journal (lol) is a good idea. Watch out for the following symptoms and if you have them go to urgent care/ER: heart palpitations/flutters/irregularity, muscle cramping/tingling, chest pain. Potassium works with magnesium to balance muscle tension/relaxation including your heart muscle, so you want those to be balanced. I would suggest being keen on your hydration (drink plenty of water) to help remove potassium through your urine in the meantime. lmk if you have any other questions or need anythign else!

I’m an ICU nurse and I’ve seen people with a high potassium because of other medications, Diabetes or supplements. I haven’t seen your labs or medical history so I can only give so much insight but I hope you get answers soon.
A few videos ago, you had some savings challenges finished. A lot of people suggested you put the money towards your Hospital Bill. Don't know if you did that or if you used the money for something else. But that would get you caught up on your Hospital Bill. If you haven't used the savings challenge money yet (And I can't remember how much it was) You could get yourself caught up on the Hospital Bill and then whatever is left over could go to buying a lawn mower. Then any money you would be stuffing towards lawn care could go to the Hospital Bill instead until that's paid off. Good luck to your friend! Sometimes the hardest part of leaving someone who's no good is having another safe place to be. But having supplies will be a big help!

For the doctor stuff, save yourself the extra money and an extra visit, and go to an endocrinologist and not a primary care doctor. A primary care doctor will see you, draw blood, charge you, and then tell you to go see an endocrinologist anyways because they can't help you. If your OB already wants you to be see for it, just have them give you the referral to endocrin, and it will save you a lot of headache and money.
Its a good sign everything else was fine on the blood test try not to worry. Your grocery shops show you eat well, just some foods in combination could be bringing up the potassium. You could try lowering coffee, energy drinks, and alcohol for a bit and replace with a glass of water. To see if it changes anything by your next blood test. The food diary is a good idea from another comment. Ive had to lower caffeine myself this year to basically nothing (due to anxiety & digestion) and alcohol i already dont drink much of. Caffeine withdrawal was tough going completely without😂

I suggest that you immediately start a diet journal. Because, when you do get into see your primary care physician they are probably going to ask you to start keeping track. Don’t make it difficult, Jazz use notebook paper and write down everything you eat drink in a day. Also, it couldn’t help hurt, to keep track of when you are going to the bathroom. They might not ask for that, but… Never hurts. I’ve never heard a doctor complain that their patient gave them too much information.
Obviously, I used the microphone and didn’t proofread this. That Jazz is supposed to be just. I stopped reading after that, so who knows how many other typos there are.
Watching your meal planning looks like you do eat healthy. Some goods that are higher in potassium are leafy greens like spinach. Fruits and veggies can also have a higher amount of potassium (apples bananas carrots potatoes avavodos)
Ya it has been a struggle lately. Took my pittie to the vet, which thank goodness it didn't cost an arm and leg, turns out he has staff infection only contagious for dogs, infection in his ear, hip problems even though he's only 2 yrs old and the vet told us it just gets worse since he's a pittie. They have medication but they did not recommend it bc it would affect the quality of his life. Hes also allergic to grass so until i save up 300 for a 1 time allergy shot he has to take allegra. Our apt water company raised our bill by $60 and then they raised it again just today another $30. So now i have to update our budget again after doing it 2 times. I just started cash stuffing again probably 5 months ago so i didn't have much of my dog fund or a savings fund but it already got depleted. Thank goodness i started this system up again or idk how we were going to pay for the vet bill.

Also, I am not sure what state you are in, but look into opening a 529 savings account in your state for your kid. Instead of the money being in a high yield for him, it can grow tax free in this type of account, it gives you a benefit on your taxes for investing in it, and it generally has a higher return than high yields.

I don’t have health insurance and use yourclinic and they are awesome and helpful. They do take insurance but honestly I paid more when I did have insurance. Not sure if they are in your area but if they are give them a try.
