That alternative rnb, mk gee has been putting it down for new wave for half a decade now.
This album is so fresh. I love that when he has an idea in a song, he stays on that idea. I think that’s a reason a lot of the songs are on the shorter sides. He’s writing from a pure creative space and not “I need to write a bridge, I can’t figure out this chorus, etc.” and then the sound design is next level. He’s very in tune with what he’s doing.

oh my gosh!! when you said something about it sounding like a band playing at an 80’s prom, my jaw nearly fell to the floor. i’ve been thinking the exact same thing since i first heard it! i plan on requesting a few songs off of this album for slow dances for my senior prom this year for sure
sounded like 80s/90s prom music. my personal favs are i want and alesis. really liked the album towards the end

Check out Dijon too, him and mk.gee worked hand in hand on both of their debut albums. Dijon's catalog is phenomenal. I suggest you listen to the singles first. Skin is an absolute banger.

You had very similar reactions to a lot of these songs as my first listen, I remember how I came across Mk.gee and it was when he released Candy as a single and I only found it because Paul Klein posted it on his story and I have been hooked ever since. Would like to see you do a reaction to his live versions of Dream Police and Are you looking up, they are respectfully so much better than the album version in a good way. Solid reaction you earned a sub.
