I wanted to ask about your pickguard on the Jaguar. I know that stock those came with a 3-Ply Mint Green pickguard, but it looks like you've upgraded to a white pearloid pickguard. Where can I find one like that? I just recently purchased the same model and was thinking of making the same swap. Cheers & compliments on the fantastic tone & great info!
Nobody has them readily available, so you will need to find one from a private party online. I got lucky and this one was already on my bass when I bought it used. You will need to specify the production date of your bass when ordering since they vary in fit for different years.
Yes, the Jaguar with the preamp engaged truly elevates it above what the Jazz Bass is capable of. So many more tone variables, and as you say, a more aggressive sound.

I always use D'Addario Prosteel strings and I like the 40-100 with a 125 low B.
