Sleaford Mods ft. Billy Nomates - Mork n Mindy (Official Video)

- New album ‘UK GRIM’ out 10 March 23 via Rough Trade Records.
Pre-order/save: sleafordmods.ffm.to/ukgrim
Mork n Mindy is the sound of the central heating and the dying smells of Sunday dinner in a house on an estate in 1982. Concrete, dinted garages, nicotine. Where beauty mainly exists in small cracks on the shell of your imagination.

Mork n Mindy (feat. Billy Nomates)
Mork n Mindy
Action man n Cindy
I don’t mess about, I make em kiss each other when my mum n dad go out, no messing, no curtain twitching, no stressin
I don’t hang about, I get em down and dirty, then get em falling out, then get em flirty
get em throwing plates at each other cos that’s what’s it’s all about
Oi, fuck off back to ya own room
In the back room when fuck all’s going on what’s new and the plated scenes of that
I live on a really depressing cul de sac where couples get divorced and people come up that ya never seen before, like that, smell of cigars and oil twat
You go too high too low
It doesn’t make a difference I know
You go too high too low
But the system won’t go
Mork n Mindy
I got eagle eyes above me
I just hit it out, in beige and tan and stain proof kitchen mats and out, house,
pheasant just hanging about, look at the seed pouch on the fucker, old man and his brother, setting about,
Stinks like an old body, like mornings on the voddy, shot gun lager hotty, like pornhub sticking constantly, WiFi’s gone all Lo Fi and my arse is feeling too dry, like crackers out at midnight I can’t be arsed with butter alright.
You’re not from round here crashed landed about a week ago yea I feel for you I do
The state of it’s alarming, so don’t presume anything or blue Monday will someday become you
Well the furniture’s the same but the menu’s rearranged and your jokes won’t land in the same space they used to
You go too high too low
It doesn’t make a difference I know
You go too high too low
But the system won’t go
I looked out at the throw
Outside of my window
Outside there wasn’t anything nice to see
I wanted things to smell
Like meadows not like hell
Dying dandelions and bumble bees
I looked out at the throw
Outside of my window
Outside there wasn’t anything nice to see
I wanted things to smell
Like meadows not like hell
Dying dandelions and bumble bees

Outstanding tune!!
Reminds me of back in the day party time 😂
The joy of being in your 40s and finding a new musical obsession. Bloody hell; this is wonderful.
Thank you.
Same. Discovered em last year. Their back catalog is just as good.
Stumbled across them in a Spotify mix a couple of months back and haven't looked back.Favourite band top, everyone else middle!
Dr. Creepen even better in your 50's mate! These boys are the dogs!
First time I heard of them was 5 years ago when they appeared on albums by both Leftfield and The Prodigy, from there I had to check out their back catalogue, they're great.
This video was filmed at my dad’s house. What a way to immortalise our family home of 85 years!

Complete with the original paint !
Such is life. Random fantastic
Probably worth a few more bucks now after a few cool bad mother fuckers in there
Tell him his phones goin off.
I love that im in my 90's and still finding cool music like this
Haha
Man, if that’s true and your name is ‘dank_asian_snacks’ we shall grant you another 90 years.
@@MS-il3ht yeah I agree thats a slick premo alias. Although asian snacks tend to be more crusted and stale
looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
I was born in a barn during US civil war. It's great to know there's still music .
That beat is so infectious
The joy of being in your late 50s and realizing punks not dead.
Doesn't it feel like you2ve found someone who's grown up - not old - with you and is still making music that appeals to everything that made you who you are? Glad it's not just me.
Punk's not dead, it just smells funny
I’ve come here from a hip hop background .
Punk and hip hop unites👊🏻
I'v seen them live few years ago, remember standing there thinking - wow that's how punk gig in 70's must have been like. The anger seemed real.
Thank you.
Saw them live last night at the Teragram in Los Angeles, a couple of 50 YOs on stage with only a laptop on milk crates, yet able to produce the energy of the sun on stage. Amazing set.
And they just keep getting better :)
What's really amazing is that all is old punks and freaks decided to say fuck the whole scene being music by 20 year old for 20 year olds, used to be if you weren't in some band that was already epic and followed, you were done and over. Now I see great punk and post punk style.stuff being done by all ages, really cool.

That moment when Billy's voice comes out of nowhere and hits you. I wish I could go back in time and experience that for the first time again.
I'm well chuffed to find out that the proper old British punk, with its unique accent and raw lyrics, is still going strong. I'm 49 years old and I'm feeling like I'm 17 again, when I used to go to record shops to 'sift through' the imports, which was proper difficult here in Brazil in the 80s. Greetings from a happy Brazilian who's buzzin' to discover you lads, and here's to punk livin' a long life!
Yeahhh, I wouldn't say better! 👏❤️
Northern England here sir. I'm so pleased you love this and I must say I adore Brazilian music with all my heart. Whatever the weather.x
Morken mindeh.
I have listened to this at least fifty times in the last fortnight. I love Jason's voice and Billy Nomates' vocals are freakin' perfect.
I have a similar accent as I’m from Nottingham lol 😂.

The joy of being nearly 70 and finding some music to relate to. Nice work!
Yeeees.
I'm a near 54yo white, upper middle class Dutch transplant in Portland, OR, working in tech with very little relation to the wheelhouse of this song, but fuck me if I _didn't_ feel this all the way in my bones. Banger!
Billy's flow is just insane
She`s a lot more , watch her rise ..
That lady has an unbelievable voice!
She’s brilliant. Not long releases an album. The best of the year.
@@SleafordModsOfficial thanks for highlighting her. Just subscribed to her channel. And thanks for all your music. Love it
Voice is too sexy. Have to listen while closed in the toilet.
Like Duffy but without the bullshit?
@@tom79013 Call In Sick is a perfect song for this year. It's hard to believe it was apparently written before March.
Poetic and musical perfection to my ears.
Glad this band is on the planet the same time as me.
Lifted me up from all the Bollox in the world.
100% that.👍🏽
Sleaford Mods and Billy Nomates - you found each other - you perfectly match musically!
Real, rough and raw! LOVE IT!
Sleaford Mods do the best collaborations.
Omg! This is so amazing!!! I'm 50 and you have restored my faith in current music! Thank you! 👍👍👍
That beat is absolute 🔥. Andrew just gets better and better every album 👏
mint, the more i listen to this, an at the min its about twice a day, for good health :) .. its brilliant.
I’ve been looking for more music like Andrew’s beats for years - anyone have any suggestions? I know Andrew released a sorta housey solo album years and years ago and it was enjoyable but it didn’t scratch the same itch. I love how the mods beats are so minimalist while also having their own depth to them.

Banger.
Didn't know these guys existed until I saw the Orbital collab about 20 mins ago, and I only saw that because a friend happened to post it on FB while I happened to be logged in, which is a rare occurrence. It always amazes me how much good music out there, hidden in the nooks and crannies...sometimes the only way to run into it is through dumb luck.
Serendipity is a wonderful thing.
Dig and ye shall find.
Bored with people saying "Banger". It just sounds so fucking lame. In a few years time it's gonna sound as dated as "far out" and " groovy".
@@hopebgood Yeah, that's sort of how slang works.
Also, nobody cares.
@@robquinn9999 Banger, Far out. You're so groovy Rob.
@@hopebgood I think what you're failing to understand is that most people aren't bothered by dated expressions.
I get a kick out of old-timey words and phrases, but banger doesn't even fall into that category...you just REALLY want it to, presumably because you're a bit too neurotic for your own good.
Life's easier when you don't resist dumb shit for no reason.
The dying smell of a sunday dinner - what a line.
Thanks!
Great tune, the hook is infectious, one of the few great bands today.
Such a good act, and that groove is so layed back here, beautiful.
What a tune best so far real head nodder that one ☝️
Just heard Sleaford Mods for the first time literally 15 minutes ago on “Nudge It”. I had to hear more - I’ve not been disappointed! I’m 63, why has it taken me so long? Too many wasted years.
I can't think of anything musically that comes close. The simplistic brilliance is just incredible. I'm 52 and feel 14 again. Thanks fellas.
Me too, mate...me too!
came to the comment section to see if anyone recommends a similar musical style lol
Im 49 love it
I'm 53 and a half :) and I'm from the Czech Republic :))), I didn't know them, I read his interview in the newspaper, they have to perform at our summer festival, if there will be a fantastic person, after listening to approx. 50 songs here, I have to say fantastic music ... and in some songs, I remembered the German D.A.F in terms of sound, but it's not important :)
Check out Mike Skinner aka The Streets.
It's a tremendous track.🎶👌
Britain's best talent right here.😉👍
My friends couldn't believe that good real music could still be done untill i made them listening to The Mods . Greetings from Argentina !
The most punk thing I see here is you guys actually personally respond to your fans comments on UA-cam. Even if it's just saying thank you. It's hands on. You do it yourself. Yea I'm a fan.
Thank you. Haha
This is exactly what I would say. Yeap!!!!!!❤️
Amen,mucker.. 👍
There's UA-cam videos of Chelsea games from fifty years ago, and one of the team, John Dempsey, is on here chatting with the punters, now well into his seventies.
I’m early 50s and love the mods. Refreshing in a world full of stale modern music.
23h43 here in Liège, Belgium. Strong Beer in my left hand, cigarette in my right hand and bloody good sound from England in my ears. Life is good.

Actually I am nearly 70 and danced round my kitchen while cooking supper when Tom Robinson played it earlier + very pleased to find it eventually 💚💚

finding this in my 60’s... music been listening all my life. heard so much awesome shit. my defining time was 1973 to 1983. think what went on during those years and tell me i’m wrong. UK = best music.
Fucking love Billy. So happy she's getting more recognition. Big ups to the Mods.
Just learning about this phenom but yeah
Another classic also BIlly Nomates supermarket sweep awesome 👌
The most fabulous musical collaboration since Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. More please.
Im 63 and love this 👍
The in unison head nodding at 02:24 is a thing of beauty. Love this song. So, so, good. I didn't think I'd be a big fan of Sleaford Mods at first but I got that Jools performance of Jobseeker stuck in my head a few years back and never looked back. One of the most important British bands around at the minute.

Such a cool song, also this introduced me to Billy Nomates which is priceless!

Straight under my skin, and into my soul. The Mods ALWAYS hit the spot! Another BANGER BORN...
Love that line "blue monday will someday become you"
I met some bloke in a pub in Australia who used to hang around with Sean Ryder from the happy Mondays. He looked battered from years of drugs and booze but he was like an Encyclopedia regarding English music. He put me onto these guys and I they are now my favourite jam!
The joy of being in your 50’s and finding utter class

One of the best tunes i've heard in years
Listening to this track before and havent seen the clip before, this is EXACTLY how I imagined it to be
Hypnotic, menacing, amusing, beautiful.
you took the words right out ofmy mouth their, gosh isn't it just and may I add AMAZING to that list!
Biggy Pop brought me in the Sleaford rabbit hole. How did I never heard of you guys?
For me this is their best work..absolute banger..a classic
The vocals, the music, the ambiguity in the lyrics & the guest vocal..it’s simplicity is what makes it so good..that beat is insane..I can almost hear method man versing over it ...a real nod to early Sleaford stuff this but slicker and the video is 🔥 as well..10/10
See you live next summer..
Respect boys ✌🏾
Thank you
yeah, great isn't it. It's as good as ever and moving on forward. Really love this one.
This track is a banger. Sleafords Mods are the best representation of the England I know - grim council estates, shit weather, betting shops, etc. No-frills art which cuts through all the bullshit. I think great music often emerges when the dominant styles/genres no longer match with reality. Ozzy Osbourne pointed out something similar when he talked about the birth of Sabbath - he was dirt poor at the time, without shoes even, and listening to "are you going to San Francisco with a flower in your hair" on the radio. For him, San Francisco may as well have been "Mars" as he looked around the depressing estate he was living on. Hence the birth of metal - i.e. as an antidote to "flower power" rock that meant nothing to most people. I just say this cos I read something similar in the way Jason talks about rock - clearly guitar based-rock has lacked any basis in social reality for some time now. Maybe Sleaford Mods are also a logical historical progression from punk - i.e. after punk has rejected guitar virtuosity in favour of a more primitive, direct approach to music-making, the next step is to throw the guitars away altogether.
You have a compelling argument about the nature of progression in music rising from cultural surroundings going. Maybe the next phase is a return to acoustic instruments ie pick the guitars back up, as we spiral through time towards the next unknown. Who knows what the next generation's children will adopt as 'cool'. Evolution=de-evolution=splitting the difference?
Thank you Tom.
@huawei thirteenmegapixel Yes a bit of a pretentious ramble lol. But I'm a music student, so I guess I'm always thinking about this stuff... 😅
@@SleafordModsOfficial No, thank YOU. :D Would you consider playing in Berlin again by any chance, when/if all the virus stuff settles down? I would love to see yous play.

Wow! Here I have been living in India for the past 15 years.... and my 60 something Jewish artist friend from New York, living nearby, sends me a link to this,. Stunning work. Punk was an important influence and to hear this fresh and original work is exciting. He lives in a very shabby part of town and I can't help but think that he is channelling his love of that place through this song.
It feels good to listen to new music made by people who are about my age.
Billy Nomates😍❤
I love her Mullet. Amazing! Such a rebellion.
The nice thing about this track is you can keep listening to it over and over and over again. Thanks Tor, Andrew and Jason. You are the best!
One of the only bands that keeps getting better. I thought their sound might have got a bit stale and one dimensional by now, but they keep finding subtle ways of keeping it interesting. Also appreciate that they didn't do the obvious lockdown/pandemic track. This new song actually made me forget about all that for a few minutes. Great stuff and looking forward to the album.
