My respect and admiration for Jason and Andrew grows with every song, every gig, every interview. I’m about a fortnight older than J, so way too old for hero worship. Just hugely appreciate such an intelligent, perceptive, and witty take on the world, combined with Andrew’s weapons-grade musical bedrock. So fucking blessed that I stumbled across them about 6 or 7 years ago. Instant connection. This was a terrific & highly skilled interview, Oli.
I'm learning the hard way, fell off the wagon after 2 years, I'm in hospital at the moment detoxing and getting better, your a massive inspiration to me Jason, thank you so much, we are the Mods.
Clean from heroin after 23yrs , four years now and what Jason said about giving you an edge... I got addicted thanks to my boss at the time and it felt so nice and I thought how on earth can people say it's addictive and for a while I felt on top of the world and then one day... I see that now I wasted the most important years of my life and I regret that so much but I'm doing really well again but I see the world in a whole different better way and I'm trying to do the best with the rest of my time here.
The change in what they write about in relation to their success reminds me of The Streets, they did the same. I think it’s inevitable really, if they are gonna write with integrity, rather than pretend to just be living the same life they had before. It’s possible that this means they can’t make albums as good as their first albums, but for me, I think they’re still great, their edgy sense of humour shines through.
There is still great new music happening, it is just harder to find. Viagra boys is worth checking out if you haven’t heard of them yet. They are much more popular now but their music hasn’t suffered due to the new found fame.
I really dig his willingness not to just say 'no regrets'. That's the way we're taught to think, and in a way that's healthy-not too much shame and all that. But also, sometimes we do stuff that maybe wasn't so good long term.
20+ yrs off everything....perverse as it is, and 100% not condoning/recommending, but doing it so you can stop and realise you don't need it/you're better off without is almost more valuable than never having done it. Look at Iggy too
Was working at lattitude and came to see you. Awesome gig. Saw you walk past me just before gig and shouted 'Oi Jason' like the wanker I am. Sorry bout that. Crackin gig 👍
Listening to music personalities being interviewed can be boring but this one I enjoyed, I found Jason sincere, his sense of caring is genuine not just being a bit lefty and ticking all the right boxes he feels real and is cool with it 🙏🏻👍
I agree with him about the drugs...some people go down the road of drugs and going on a huge journey, across years.. only to come back to yourself...and then that's enough...you don't need the drugs because you are enough...more than enough and reality is the drug...for the want of a better word...you have found yourself....and that's OK...then you begin to regret the time lost on drugs but maybe the journey was something you needed...to knock the scrap yard train into shape or like banging on an old TV that doesn't work properly...and after a few bangs..for some incomprehensible reason starts to work...like some peice through the vibration and violence..falls into place.
Sleaford Mods are one of the best and most important Brit bands in years. 👍🏻 Smart, humble guy. And some very, as expected, thoughtful takes on current Britain. Not sure I agree on the drug thing... It opens you up and shuts you down, for better and for worse. The main thing is you grow from it, and move on. And if you can create amazing art - even better.
Maybe, but it's a double edged sword & if you have the Talent then it's better to let that develop side by side with the individual's growth patterns. As he said in the interview, they can become a habit. Drugs CAN give you an edge, no argument there but in the long haul not a good move (in my opinion at least. I think Musical development grows alongside individual development. The casualty list speaks volumes...
Yeah. My point is once you do them you can't really talk about the world without them affecting it - they've made their difference on you and things have shifted, for better or worse.
I think they’re great, took me a while to think that if I’m honest, but they are . I’d heard them for years but wasn’t listening, now that I do I’m proud to be a fan. We haven’t had a band for 30 yrs or so that are outspoken, aware of the current social issues, and have a valid opinion, and don’t care what they say. So to me that makes them at least ones of the most important current bands. Proper artists I relate to them a lot, I really like how he talks about drink n drugs, how it shrinks your world, that’s exactly how if feel as I’m the same generation as him and seem to have the same kind of history and experiences. Hooked.
Not a fan of his music, however I can appreciate it. But what an intelligent human being. Great role model not just to his fans but many others too. Great interview and what a clever guy
I was at the Roses Wembley gig. The Mods were easily the best of the supports. I was in a section of the front row, behind which there was no shoving. It felt idilic, it's intriguing the stuff you miss by not being in the midst of the melle of the crowd. It's sad how some behave at these gigs. When at Etihad stadium the year before, was in the middle of the crowd and it was very different and quite crazy.
One of my favorite songs ever is TRIXIE....It basically describes my life ...prison drink drug addiction....Trixie What ya gonna do....wobble wobble.....
Very intelligent talking about drugs and alcohol 👍 you are real man, I'm clean now after 15 years of heroin and cocaine addiction. I love you 😳🤣in a good way.
I’d like to think he doesn’t hate me because I went to a private school. Truth is I love his music even though I can’t relate to a lot of the early stuff.
I’ve been there, felt out of place for a gig, and when you get the response it’s great, when you don’t it hurts, and is a hurdle for artists, I was in a punk Acid rock band and we did a local school gig who were looking for pop, haha
I don't think he really knows what he's talking about, and why the hell did the interviewer have to bring people who don't want the vaccine into it!? I don't want the vaccine but I'm not necessarily an 'an anti vax conspiracy theorist'. Essentially he's suggesting that anyone who doesn't want to be vaccinated is a conspiracy theorist crackpot! What a crap interview. I quite like the Sleaford Mods but I'm not so sure now, Jason Williamson has gone down in my estimations.
Totally agree, he’s not that clever if he doesn’t know the vax is causing a disproportionate amount of damage to a lot of people. He might as well of done an advert for the Global Cabal rather than an interview. Disappointing.
No hes not hes just saying he doesnt want it cause he doesnt. Where everyone labelw you conspiracy theorist cauee you dont want it ans im guessing you got angry about it cause you wear a tin foil hat😊
Drugs are a creative stepping stone for neuro-different people to be able to express themselves freely, without the muzzle of social expectation. Some drugs, cannabis and magic mushrooms, are beneficial for depression, autism and seizures.
i like how ambiguous his answers were, especially on the anti vaccine question he never really gave in to the coerced answer and gave a vague response alluding to either side being manipulated by the masses, he obviously knows his audience comes from a wide range of people with different thoughts and doesnt want to alienate anyone with overly strong opinions
Good to see you Oli mate.
You are fantastic
Where’s that coat from mate

BBC…Great..For Cough. Jason sitting on the fence.
@@lextalonis839 Are you a left winger who hates the BBC or a right winger who hates the BBC?
I have a lot of respect for these guys. They make music they love, not bothered if they offend anyone. They are just being themselves. 👏

Yer fine mate, pick up, get up, keep going, no shame, yer doing it, and that's all there is.

One of the best British bands of the last thirty years.
Touch on every aspect of normal existence with substance, wit, creativity and intelligence!
British music at its best is raw attitude and wordplay, Sleaford Mods have captured that really well
Complete and utter shite. Brit music has been bollocks for the last 15 years.

Got put onto The Sleaford Mods by a good friend and I can’t stop listening. Love it and keep up the good work Jason & Andy.
Bit of an honest, heart warming interview. Welcome change. There is hope, top and humble men. Cheers
pure legend . love this band, real, unique ...refreshing

Such a joy to listen to JW as always, always come away with plenty to think about. Looking forward to Printworks in Dec. 🙂
Such a down to earth and interesting guy Jason is and humble to boot ……Sleaford Mods the voice of the people and base too 🥰
I couldn't agree more. Jason should consider getting into politics.
I'd totally lost interest in contemporary music until Sleaford Mods came along .Good luck now you're back to work doing what you love .
With you on that. Hoping the guys come near Southampton at some stage.
Same.
There is still great new music happening, it is just harder to find. Viagra boys is worth checking out if you haven’t heard of them yet. They are much more popular now but their music hasn’t suffered due to the new found fame.
As a punk back in the day ,this bank ticks all the boxes honestly, raw,non conformist and that beat makes a 60 plus year old very happy ❤
Conformist ticking all the boxes.
Too judgemental mate

I liked the strategically placed pot plant in the background. It reminds me of a girl I went out with in the 80s.
Great revelation about his sobriety and drug use. Incredible band.

Just pleasure listening to him over the pond. I look forward to coming back , whenever that may be.
wonderfully articulate guy, refreshing pair of musicians as well.
What a lovely down to earth man. Great band. The real deal.

Such a brilliant lad, cant wait to see them live again in New york this coming april. Long live the Sleaford Mods !
Sleaford Mods are refreshing stream of underground with punky flawour. Love from Prague.

Great Interview this
So true -people need people all creeds and colours are irrelevant we are all “jock tamsons bairns” I love this band ❤
This restores my faith in humanity. Great interview. So real but so hopeful and positive at same time. Respect to both of you.
A very intelligent and well spoken man,
Jason doesn't seem as angry now as I hoped. It's his rage that makes the music IMO.
He stood about making conversation with me and an annoyingly drunk friend of mine for an hour after a gig once so both lads are deceptively patient!
Watched the England games from the semi final. 2 games then? Hardcore
Great interview!
Very intelligent talking about drugs and alcohol 👍 you are real man, I'm clean now after 15 years of heroin and cocaine addiction.
I love you 😳🤣in a good way.
Well done J. Sending love from Cecil Street.x
Was nice that Jason didn't get baited in on the loaded questions near the end. Seems like a top bloke.

I love normal people. You can tell he is normal as well as a Tommy Cooper lookalike. Decent interview with no b/s.
Hah! Tommy Cooper! I can see that
broad definition of 'normal' you got there
