That Fergie performance was legitimately hilarious.
In Poland, we have our equivalent of this performance. It's also a super famous singer, Edyta Górniak, one of the biggest stars here with an amazing voice, and she also wanted to play a diva and do her original version of the anthem. It's even funnier because there are fans in the stadium who are so confused and are singing in a usual way completely incompatible with what she is singing. I feel like I'm being ripped apart the second I touch a string on my guitar and these people are standing completely exposed, and they have a choice to either move about in a way that's probably really awkward for everyone involved or take a more relaxed approach and risk making things boring and then they gotta sing ontop of it with what is basically the most accident prone instrument you can have, your own voice. Bitch ass vocal cords decide on their own when they wanna comply

Agreed. It seems almost disrespectful when (predominantly US) singers try to "flex" on a national anthem and turn it into a howling fest rather than a song...
The US national anthem was actually based of a song which was designed to show off a performers range and singing abilities. Adam Neely does a good video explaining this and why that makes it a poor choice of song for an anthem which is supposed to be sang in unison by anyone to evoke a sense of unity
@@owenduffy5948 The take a way from the American anthem is that it really goes above and beyond and expects the greatest from an individual. Or that's what the american spirit was before.
@@owenduffy5948 Most anthems suck in that regard. One of the few positive exceptions is the Scottish anthem Flower of Scotland. It's in a range everyone can sing, easy melody and lyrics.

That's just not true at all. You can go look up songs like Take Me to the Land of Hell or Mindweaver and hear that she can totally sing normally. Or check out her album Aproximately Infinite Universe, which is a pretty decent rock album.

My worst vocal performance to date is laughing during a solo about someone dying
We had a really good local singer miss a high note on one of her songs (first or second song of the night). I think she just wasn't warmed up quite enough and ended up a little flat... she was playing her own accompaniment though and she just used it as a blue note and added a little flourish and got right back on track and made it sound deliberate.

O my I can totally understand what he was saying about not understand until you are on stage. I practiced a song multiple times a day for four months to sing to my wife at our wedding. On the day I was so overcome with emotion and nevers that I said the lyrics in her direction with absolutely no melody at all.
You said that everyone has had vocal fails. I searched around, but I couldn’t find a single Matt Bellamy vocal fail other than forgetting the lyrics.
Probably because he did do it but just before he ever became famous. I’m sure when he was training there were days where it didn’t happen for him.

Every time I sound bad singing, I had bad sleep, or no sleep.
Mentioning about performing in front of a lot of people...I saw Three Days Grace with Disturbed last year in Toronto. Three Days Grace definitely wasn't prepared for this venue 'cause the Scotia Bank Theatre is big. Their stage setup was pretty small, and because of how large the place was, the singer felt he had to go ALL out there, so there were times where he sounded flat, or tired himself out.
And I'm soooo tempted to submit my own singing voice on Twitter. Only issues I have are:
1. My voice is too quiet and soft.
2. I can't decide on the song to sing (Too many I like out there).

When i'm listening to the national anthem at an event, that's supposed to be a very patriotic and humbling moment. Honestly, the singer isn't all that important. And I don't appreciate it when singers try and make it into something else. When I was little my swim coach would sing the national anthem at swim meets, but it was really cool to see everyone stop what there doing and start singing. And when I went to college football games they would have the band play the national anthem and it was really cool to see a stand of 30,000+ people stop what they were doing and start singing. It's such a uniting song. And it's the time to remember, that we are all in this together, and despite all the crap that has happened over the past 200+ years, our flag is still there.

Man that Brendon Urie one takes me back. When I was a teenager I fancied myself a singer (I’m not), at a friends birthday party I tried singing bohemian rhapsody to impress a girl I liked, ended up cracking on the exact same line, humiliated myself in front of about 50 people
