Always loved Abu Garcia. I have a Orra 7:1 w/ Vertios 2.0 (top water) , Orra 5:4 w/lighting rod Shock and a 6500c w/a cheap 8ft Walmart catfish rod. But for open face , Pfluger all the way
Would you recommend this or the Max X for a first baitcaster combo? The rods seem identical apart from the color, so I guess it comes down to the reel?
Yes. It’s very easy to setup and allows you to use a wide variety of lure types.

Throw a jitterbug on that calm water lol. I usually 20 lb braid on top water for it floats and rips through lilly pads
Quick question. When using braid what weight should I use for substitute for fluorocarbon? IE if the rod says 20lb fluorocarbon which braid (weight/diameter) should I use?
@@thecluelessoutdoorsman916 I usually use 30lb Trilene for top water on a 7:1 Abu Garcia. That line will float. That Berkley Crystal braid seem to break at mid cast after getting to cold. For Perch with light rig, I use 6-8lb braid . Fluorocarbon is great for crankbaits and divers. That line will sink It's on my 5:4 Abu Garcia
Have you tried the newer lews xfinity solid hi viz orange?? I can’t really find a review on it..
Yes. Actually got mine a couple weeks ago, very nice. I’ve been using a Lews Hack Attack also and that’s even smoother then the Xfinity. But on the Abu side I really like MacPro a lot another nice combo. What’s your favorite currently.
@@greatamericansurvival I currently use the Lews Classic pro… But I was looking to get another pole combo between a abu or lews.. I love the grip and cast buttons on the lews American hero camo I recently bought my son.

which one is better Max STX Baitcaster combo or the Abu Garcia® Max Pro Baitcast Combo?
I like the MaxPro it’s just built better then the STX. The reel is very nice and super smooth . Short of the RevoX I think it’s one of the best combos Abu makes.

I like the Max Stx better. We just finished a video comparing the Max StX and Lew’s Xfinity combo. Should post later this week.
Just picked up this exact combo, been practicing in the front yard and my best cast distance is only about 20 yards. I'm a beginner and have nothing to compare it to. I can't seem to get it any further.
Omfg almost exactly the same I got this for my birthday and it was my first baitcaster and I had the same experience
It’s a fine mix between brakes and spool tension. What weight line and lure are you throwing?
I got it figured out, added some weight but mostly I found a technique that works for me. I use the bottom of the rod as leverage and and whip the rod. Just gotta be careful not to lose my bait
Practice makes perfect. Once you get bait casting you’ll want to move to fly fishing.
Add some weight or braid. Adjust that tensioner and you should be good to go.
Can I use this for speckled trout & Redfish
You can but honestly there are other combos that are built for Salt Water fishing. This combo can be used just make sure to wash and rinse your reel after each trip and then oil it after it dries off.
