- Hey everyone! I recently spend 10 days in the Mentawais with some girlfriends and we had the best time. Some people who don't know better say the Mentawais is not friendly for long boarders or girls, but we went during the shoulder season when the waves were smaller and scored some really fun waves.

So I know that obviously as a content creator you're not going to post a bunch of wipeout pics, but as a person who is just learning how to surf, it's really nice to hear you talk about falling or being scared from time to time - makes surfing seem more attainable. Thanks for sharing!
That is one thing that never changes in surfing lol! No matter how good you are, you will still fall :) but you do eventually get to a point where you actually start to surf more than you fall. It's the best sport ever but one of the hardest! I love it!

@@ninastemple235 yes!! I grew up surfing, riding horses and dirt bikes and I swear it changed my views on “failure” I just look at it as growth and learning
The Mentawai is not only for mad surfers, it is one of the last truly remote regions of the world to have indigenous tribes still living the way they did thousands of years ago. With amazing untouched jungle reserves you can do trekking tours and visit the indigenous villages lost in time.
OMG really? I need to do some research on this place then. I'd love to get lost in their neck of the woods!
Ugh I love that you have a group of girls to travel with and share these experiences with! It is so hard to find friends that are this spontaneous and adventure driven. Thankfully my boyfriend matches my energy, but would be nice to have more people like this in my circle. Guess I just gotta find them! ;)

Kia-Ora from Aotearoa (N.Z) You are definitely living a life to be envied for sure. I've been a sk8boarder for almost 40years I grew up at Muriwai Beach on the west coast just north of Auckland. I spent everyday of my childhood at the beach with friends body boarding, body surfing, gathering food riding dirt bikes etc it was such a Rad period of my life and your videos have reminded me of those times so thank you😘 I dabbled a little with surfing but couldn't afford my own board or wetsuit as my folks were quite poor but a skateboard was a bit more accessible and then i could imitate what my friends were doing on the water cutbacks bertlemans, airs, back then all my mates would only skate if the waves were shit, but in the period from mid 1980's-early 90s skateboarding had a huge surge in popularity and then it changed now we would only surf if we couldn't skate because of rain and we would attempt sk8 tricks while surfing like Ollie's, shove-its etc. I must admit tho after seeing yourself and your gorgeous crew of mermaids it has inspired me and made me rethink my choice of sweating,bleeding getting injured slamming on concrete or alternatively i could be frolicking in the ocean possibly🤞🏼 amongst some stunning bikini clad asian goddesses 🤔 😂.. btw did you ever upload any footage of your trip to New Zealand or maybe you could come back over here and you could personally teach me to surf properly and re-ignite the stoke 🙏🏾 could make an interesting vlog?
