I thought mum's were annuals, but we got some about 3 years ago, and my husband planted them in a spot near our driveway, where they would be easy to water, and they kept getting bigger and bigger every year! Costco had huge mum's, and some smaller ones. He decided to get a huge burgundy mum, then saw the smaller ones, and picked 3 of them. He paid for them with points he had racked up, so they were FREE! We were married in October 38 years ago, because we love Fall. (we met in April, and married in October, 6 months later! We were both 24, so we knew what we were looking for, and with God's help, and work, it's lasted 38 years, 4 children, who are all grown, hard working married adults, who have brought us so much joy and happiness, and so far, 6 grandchildren we adore!) We had mum's as decor in our wedding, so they are special to us.

My mom would always add empty water bottles to her planters so she uses less dirt!! She was definitely all about her plants 🥰 She passed away 2 years ago this Christmas..

Kim, you can add empty plastic water bottles to the bottom of the pots then fill only about 1/2 to a 1/3 with potting soil, then add the plant. Makes it very might weight and it can drain well! 😊

Kim, I usually put an upside down pot in my bigger pots, then put my plants in. Some I fill with soil as I am planting them for the summer. Others I just set my a flower pot inside on top of the upside down pot.

Ya Kim like other comments, I just fill the bottom of planters with empty plastic plant pots, water bottles, etc. Works great and allows for drainage. And I’m not sure if those are ‘actually’ lol fall mums for outdoors but maybe they’re appropriate Florida. Usually they’re the hardier garden mums. I think those will dry out quickly and not last long for you. Thanks for the great and fun fall content! You’re simply the best!!!

I fill big pots like that with Styrofoam peanuts and/or bubble wrap. But first I put a few rocks in the bottom so they don't get top heavy and fall over. I like to put the holes in the bottoms of the pots themselves, not the liners.

Yeah, for 2 limes on the tree! I've always put rocks at the bottom of the pot. Yes, the pots are heavy, but I don't move mine. I've seen people put empty pop/water cans. Save some of your sparkling water cans to but at the bottom.
For large planters, fill the bottom with empty soda bottles. Your cardboard will start to lose shape because of water. Empty bottles will last forever. You inspired me to make a cinnamon braid for my coworkers. I'll find out tomorrow how it goes. Thanks for being the woman across the room Kim!💚💛💚💛💚

Fill the pots with pinecones and then a layer of sand/potting soil.
Try an empty butter container. Upside down. With small squares or half circles cut for water to drain at edge. Then maybe add your cardboard if not tall enough. That way less dirt needed. Good luck! 🌿

We do not do big birthday parties (we have ) we will do something special the day of all about them . Then we do a day trip for them , movie ,dinner , and treat . Maybe a day in the mountains exploring. Beach and whale watching. A zoo trip . A concert or event . Etc etc … But it’s all about them day .

Cinnamon twist looks amazing.
Flower pot tip. I crush plastic water bottles in use them as pot fillers for large and in charge pots . Water can get all in and around them and they don’t rot, like ever obviously… 😂 . ❤

Kim, try empty water bottles or the little plastic containers the flowers come in half way up the pot, then fill with soil, works great! 😉
Have the kids gather pinecones, twigs, and leaves. I use those as filler in my garden raised beds. You can use them to fill your pots. Adding a saucer under the mums can help them stay watered. You can get moss at the Dollar Tree and put it around the cardboard. You could also use pinecones. That will cover the cardboard and make it look finished. ❤❤

A lightweight solution to your pots...empty tin cans, like the Spindrift waters. Fill the cans 1/2 way. Then a layer of pea stone or white stone, the a little soil or bark. Nestle the mums into the top. Water should easily drain through.
Loved the board. Try cutting the wicks down shorter.
Put pool noodles bottom of planters to take up space.

I totally get the potting the plants situation! I saved up aluminum cans and plastic water bottles (smashed down with the lid on them). I filled up the bottom 3/4ths. Then I put potting soil on top! Not as heavy at all! After 2 years like that, I did have to add a little more potting soil but STILL very light!!!!
Well….. a little life update here: three weeks into Brownie Fridays at our house and we forgot all about it until about 10 pm lol. Luckily my 13 yr old was like we can just do it on Saturday lol. See you never fail. There’s always another day to celebrate brownies and of course my kids with brownies. ❤

Hey Kim, fill the bottom of the planters with cut-up pool noodles to fill a lot of the void before placing your dirt and plant in. Hope this helps.
I make a similar dish, but mine is pork tenderloin, applesauce, & onions, plus same seasonings S+P, garlic (fresh or powder depending on what I'm feeling that day)
Well, I have 3 kids that are grown now. Looking back, when they were that young, seems like they enjoyed something fairly small better. They seemed to get overwhelmed with big parties and enjoyed them better when they were older.

I put my yeast in my freezer -it lasts forever
I put dollar store pool floaters in my planters to take up room -then pour in dirt -add some rocks 🪨 to help keep them in place from wind ❤
In bottom of planters put something in bottom for a little weight then empty rinsed out plastic milk bottles will fill it in then add soil on top. Also you can get a little tray on wheels to move the planters around when you need to clean around and under them. Maybe use all those leftover water bottles in the bottom for filler that the kids drink and toss and put out in the fridge one big water jug and cups they can drink from and are recyclable. Or designated water bottles out there also? But yeah fill the bottom of a pot with milk jugs is what I’ve seen.
Keep a sharpie marker by the fridge and let the kids mark their bottle with their name or a symbol of some kind. Then when the bottles are empty, fill the planters 1/2 way up with the empty bottles and add dirt then the plants. It fills the planter but it’s not as heavy as all the dirt. I have also used packing peanuts. They will blow around as you’re working with then if it’s windy. I love your channel. You’re amazing!

I saw someone else say this but Styrofoam packing peanuts work great in the bottom of a planter. They drain so well and are light. My dad puts several hunks of floral foam, if that's what it's called, but the blocks of foamy stuff you can stick flowers into. He likes that because it's light and drains, but holds some water. And he can cut it out mold it to the shape he needs. They have it at the dollar tree or Walmart too!

Hey Kim, a suggestion is to get another set of ramekins the same size because there’s a lip on them and put a little bit of water in that one and then put the ramekin with the stuff you want melted underneath and you’re gonna have to replace the water because it’s gonna get hot, but it won’t burn Your chocolate and your caramel that’s what I would try

Your Fall videos are some on my favs. ❤ The Island punch Spendrift is by far the best. It is absolutely delish!! Our Kroger recently had them BOGO!! If your dollar tree still has pool noodles, use those to fill the planters. You can cut them into the sizes you need.

I dunno looked like a pain in the arse to me. And your Tall Planters out front looked fine. Really you use whatever you've got. Styrofoam, Hay, Branches...Clip a little DT Black Halloweeny (Or Fall Leaves) Garland to go around the Mums (and yes, they are.) Peace
