This is probably controversial but I actually think the style is really cute. The khajiit and argonians especially are adorable. The game actually looks pretty cool. I probably won't actually play it, but I think it's cute.
i mean i can't lie, the argonian egg was pretty cute. i just wish they changed up the style a little, maybe if they stylized the characters more like how they did in fallout shelter, and made them look like the art on the loading screens and stuff it would look less unsettling.

I suggest you take a goooood look at the games they released and asses their actual quality without bias for the time of their release. From my understanding, changing sexes is a very niche thing in Tamriel. So having any two people of the same sex being able to have a child together, although not impossible, is very weird. Fallout shelters do require a man and a woman to make a baby, so this decision is even more confusing.
It is impossible. If they have changed sexes, they aren't of the same sex, and if they haven't it is still impossible for a male/male union to be fruitful, or the other way around.

I think ES:C has about as much bearing on the lore of Elder Scrolls as Fallout Shelter had on the lore of Fallout. That game had characters from Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas appear as dwellers you could have in your vault. Did Sarah Lyons and Confessor Cromwell ever work in a power generator room together? No. It's a mobile game designed to sell microtransactions. I pre-registered for Castles, and got Ulfric Stormcloak as a bonus subject. I don't think I need to tell you the leader of the Stormcloak Rebellion in the 4th Era served in the same castle as Tiber Setpim, founder of the modern Empire in the 2nd Era.
The art style kinda looks like Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard and Oblivion with it's bright colors and medieval style. Of course it doesn't look dark and gritty and epic as Morrowind, Skyrim, ESO, Legends and Blades. But that's an inconsistency that was already part of the game series before. If one real life day equals one year in the game and Tiber Septim is only in the beginning of the game, the timeline could make sense? I mean the adoring fan is a Bosmer so he could be some hundred years old and M'aiq is a fourth wall character.
FUN FACT! Tiber Septim is not Tiber Septims real name. Its actually "Hjalti Early-Beard". He was named Tiber Septim when he was CROWNED EMPEROR. Now this was way after he was 24 and for some reason he's also NOT the Emperor so... The Devs CLEARLY don't give the last remnant of a Shit.

Hi, how do you cancel out an assassination? I just got an animation of my Tiber Septim getting assassinated by a low ranked elf cause of monarchy. I closed it while the animation was still ongoing (hoping my tiber septim could still be saved by some bug or error ) and everytime I get back in the game, the animation still plays repeatedly. Hopefully, my 5 dollar septim isn't gonna get killed by the free character.

Wow, a new Elder Scrolls game. Thanks, I hate it. I played alot of Fallout Shelter and I had fun with it for about a couple of months. But seing this, and what the popularity of that game has "inspired" Bethesda to do with their mobile games going forward, is sad. I wish the money spent on this games development, had been but to use somewhere else. I'm pretty done with Bethesda as a company, and i dont think any amount of hype, can ever get me to buy one of their games at full price again. They keep releasing these half finished "Concept games", where it seems more like a bunch of Microtransactions, with a minimal effort game build around it. And then they expect modders, to come in and make their boring games playable. The biggest sign of this, was the Starfield Inventory. How is it even worse than the Shopping list inventory from Skyrim. It's not minimal, mister Howard, it's clunky and really bad. How can they get it so wrong 5 games in a row, and not innovate, but instead detract. They keep making games, where you spent longer and longer looking at menus, instead of giving us the exploration experience, we want from them.
I'm playing the game right now. To be honest I been playing the game for at least almost on my 3rd day right now. I already enjoy playing this game, the only thing is different of what fallout shelter doesn't have is that you can make a choice that will affect the result of the reputation of other people that talk to character that you pick.
YOOO this game is amazing. This is everything i wanted ESO to be. The combat is so refreshing. I can leave the phone on my table while i play a real game AND beat this one while afking. Brilliant design. Even the pricing is great, 18$ for a random cruddy skin! smells like bathesda to me.

As a rock inhabitant (a fancy way of saying I know I live under a rock) who never played or heard much about Elder Scrolls games, I consider this game as perfect for me; I've been searching a medieval game in the app store for quite awhile that's relaxing and not too demanding of my time, hence this fit the bill-also, the ability to have same gender marriage is the cherry on top, I love my Lady Ysabel x Alassi enemies-to-lovers matchmake so much that I might make a fanfiction of it someday haha. Of course, I respect your opinion as somebody who's played other Elder Scroll games, however if you remove the relative notions to the other games, it is really just a medieval simulation game-one that I'm fond of playing. ^^
Meh, it's a mobile game so I'll just pretend it doesn't exist. (Just like with C0DA). Though I guess TES Legends can be pretty cool if you are into card fighting games. But if what you want is a kingdom/nation management game set in the ES universe, then you should totally try out the Elder Kings 2 mod for Crusader Kings 3, it's great! And it was made by passionate fans who do care for TES lore, unlike whatever this is.

throwing this out here too, but ive been playing the game a decent amount. almost dynasty level 50. it's a cute game, but that's just about it. the value of items in the store is INSANELY overpriced and not worth the buy, unless it's the daily free items.

Too bad, I find the premise actually really likeable. I imagine an actually well done castle management game about political intrigue set during the events of Daggerfall that takes itself actually seriously in the same way a mainline Elder Scrolls game would. I would play that.
Jokes aside, it is actually set somwhere between Blades and Skyrim(there is a "quest" tied to goblins or some other shit and you get message about a protagonist of that TES Blades game)...And Talos in there and Lucien and others are"pay-to-win" bullshit from emperors pass, as well as other characters... and so many lasy mechanics there...total disapointment of a game)
This game just launched in the android store (at least in my country, Brazil). Then I saw your video and now I don't understand why would they even launch this. It's like you said, this is not a TES game, it's like they've picked a generic game and put a TES logo and some random stuff from the series inside. I think it would've been better for this game to just be a generic fantasy game of castle sim/management, it would make more sense in the ocean of mobile games that try to make you develop an habit/addiction and then request your money so you can get another fix.

Yeah it is just a generic castle game with the TES aesthetic (elements) slaped on it but it neither care about timeline or established events Lore wise I only know argonian can gender swap with the Hist's blessing according to that one ESO quest in Murkmire
I would say the only thing that I don't agree with you on is the cameo characters. Fallout Shelter has cameos from all the Bethesda Fallout games and the TV series and I think it's meant to be more like an Easter egg than anything else. They're not even unique since you can get duplicates of the same character and you can also rename them. So I think while I agree there are some other lore breaking aspects to this game, I think with the cameo characters it's meant to just kind of feel special to the player (and probably motivate them to buy lootboxes). Also, unless it's been changed, Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve in Fallout Shelter. The way the breeding mechanic works in that game would make it really difficult to have same sex couplings without breaking everything.
in terms of the lore and the game being canon, Im gonna go out on a limb and just say that this could be some small pocket realm in oblivion that sheogorath is messing around with. kinda like a kid with an ant farm.
I just wish the art style felt more like an elder scrolls game, and leaned into like more political intrigue type of gameplay. Maybe instead of just a castle builder turn it into a whole city builder, I dunno. Maybe making it more lore friendly for the people that actually play the other tes games
It seems Fallout shelter and this game are the same, only thing different is the theme. But yeah I wished the design of characters' faces would have a more standard elder scrolls art style.
Maybe I'm not as steeped in lore as the real die hard fans are, but I would have been far more shocked if this game did have a lore friendly canon. Quoting an interview from a time when mobile apps was barely a concept is not really a solid foundation to base an argument on, in my opinion. I don't think it should be surprising at all that the lore of a cartoon mobile game with an ambiguous setting doesn't seem to fit the lore.

I think you've misunderstood the purpose of the game. You first compared it to Fallout Shelter in terms of visuals and I agree that it doesn't look like an Elder Scrolls game. But then you talk about the time and place it's set in, and completely forget the fact that Fallout Shelter is similarly not set in a specific place or time, and that it also has characters from all the games. That's the fun of these games - you get to have all the famous/infamous characters from all the games in just one place. It's silly and wacky, but that's the point. Heroes of Dragon Age did this (RIP HoDA), Fallout Shelter does it, and now ES:Castles does too. Personally for me it's a plus, and I can't wait to play it since I've been waiting for a game like Fallout Shelter but set in a fantasy world for years. FS is one of my favorite games to play on PC when I don't have internet or if I'm just bored but don't have energy to play anything else. I hope ES: Castles will also come to PC.
You make a valid point. It's probable that the devs were trying to go down the "whacky goofy" route but I don't know if that message translated very well to the actual game. I think maybe elder scrolls was the wrong franchise to take this route with because of how seriously some people take the lore and stuff (myself included). Plus the time gaps between the existence of some characters in Fallout vs Elder Scrolls is definitely much much smaller in this case. It was very weird to see them put characters from ESO and skyrim in the same game lol. But yeah I think maybe they could have played around with the silliness aspect a little bit more and made it more obvious, instead of making it look silly because it's bad.

I played alot of Fallout Shelter and I had fun with it for about a couple of months. But seing this, and what the popularity of that game has "inspired" Bethesda to do with their mobile games going forward, is sad.
I wish the money spent on this games development, had been but to use somewhere else. I'm pretty done with Bethesda as a company, and i dont think any amount of hype, can ever get me to buy one of their games at full price again. They keep releasing these half finished "Concept games", where it seems more like a bunch of Microtransactions, with a minimal effort game build around it. And then they expect modders, to come in and make their boring games playable.
The biggest sign of this, was the Starfield Inventory. How is it even worse than the Shopping list inventory from Skyrim. It's not minimal, mister Howard, it's clunky and really bad. How can they get it so wrong 5 games in a row, and not innovate, but instead detract. They keep making games, where you spent longer and longer looking at menus, instead of giving us the exploration experience, we want from them.
I'm playing the game right now. To be honest I been playing the game for at least almost on my 3rd day right now. I already enjoy playing this game, the only thing is different of what fallout shelter doesn't have is that you can make a choice that will affect the result of the reputation of other people that talk to character that you pick.

YOOO this game is amazing. This is everything i wanted ESO to be. The combat is so refreshing. I can leave the phone on my table while i play a real game AND beat this one while afking. Brilliant design. Even the pricing is great, 18$ for a random cruddy skin! smells like bathesda to me.
Could you please play The Elder Scrolls Travels: Dawnstar next? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the money

As a rock inhabitant (a fancy way of saying I know I live under a rock) who never played or heard much about Elder Scrolls games, I consider this game as perfect for me; I've been searching a medieval game in the app store for quite awhile that's relaxing and not too demanding of my time, hence this fit the bill-also, the ability to have same gender marriage is the cherry on top, I love my Lady Ysabel x Alassi enemies-to-lovers matchmake so much that I might make a fanfiction of it someday haha. Of course, I respect your opinion as somebody who's played other Elder Scroll games, however if you remove the relative notions to the other games, it is really just a medieval simulation game-one that I'm fond of playing. ^^
Meh, it's a mobile game so I'll just pretend it doesn't exist. (Just like with C0DA). Though I guess TES Legends can be pretty cool if you are into card fighting games.
But if what you want is a kingdom/nation management game set in the ES universe, then you should totally try out the Elder Kings 2 mod for Crusader Kings 3, it's great! And it was made by passionate fans who do care for TES lore, unlike whatever this is.

Damn this looks terrible even for mobile game standards... I could only imagine being a company like Bethesda that so many gamers seem to look up to, see something like Genshin or ZZZ and go "Yeah, we should release this, our fans will love it". I miss the old TES lore where everyone was racist, now they're making Tamriel look like USA.

throwing this out here too, but ive been playing the game a decent amount. almost dynasty level 50. it's a cute game, but that's just about it. the value of items in the store is INSANELY overpriced and not worth the buy, unless it's the daily free items.

Too bad, I find the premise actually really likeable. I imagine an actually well done castle management game about political intrigue set during the events of Daggerfall that takes itself actually seriously in the same way a mainline Elder Scrolls game would. I would play that.

Jokes aside, it is actually set somwhere between Blades and Skyrim(there is a "quest" tied to goblins or some other shit and you get message about a protagonist of that TES Blades game)...And Talos in there and Lucien and others are"pay-to-win" bullshit from emperors pass, as well as other characters... and so many lasy mechanics there...total disapointment of a game)

Then I saw your video and now I don't understand why would they even launch this. It's like you said, this is not a TES game, it's like they've picked a generic game and put a TES logo and some random stuff from the series inside.
I think it would've been better for this game to just be a generic fantasy game of castle sim/management, it would make more sense in the ocean of mobile games that try to make you develop an habit/addiction and then request your money so you can get another fix.

Yeah it is just a generic castle game with the TES aesthetic (elements) slaped on it but it neither care about timeline or established events

The time setting is quiet further (i think so), of Skyrim. The Thalmor from Auridion and the imperials still like "one".
I would say the only thing that I don't agree with you on is the cameo characters. Fallout Shelter has cameos from all the Bethesda Fallout games and the TV series and I think it's meant to be more like an Easter egg than anything else. They're not even unique since you can get duplicates of the same character and you can also rename them. So I think while I agree there are some other lore breaking aspects to this game, I think with the cameo characters it's meant to just kind of feel special to the player (and probably motivate them to buy lootboxes).
Also, unless it's been changed, Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve in Fallout Shelter. The way the breeding mechanic works in that game would make it really difficult to have same sex couplings without breaking everything.

in terms of the lore and the game being canon, Im gonna go out on a limb and just say that this could be some small pocket realm in oblivion that sheogorath is messing around with. kinda like a kid with an ant farm.
There's a mod for crusader kings 3 that turns the game's setting into TES . Probably way better management game than this one
I just wish the art style felt more like an elder scrolls game, and leaned into like more political intrigue type of gameplay. Maybe instead of just a castle builder turn it into a whole city builder, I dunno. Maybe making it more lore friendly for the people that actually play the other tes games

It seems Fallout shelter and this game are the same, only thing different is the theme. But yeah I wished the design of characters' faces would have a more standard elder scrolls art style.
Maybe I'm not as steeped in lore as the real die hard fans are, but I would have been far more shocked if this game did have a lore friendly canon. Quoting an interview from a time when mobile apps was barely a concept is not really a solid foundation to base an argument on, in my opinion. I don't think it should be surprising at all that the lore of a cartoon mobile game with an ambiguous setting doesn't seem to fit the lore.

you'll not appreciate this if you're not playing fallout shelter. you will only see discrepancies after discrepancies if you try to link this to elderscroll. only people will appreciate this are the once who play and maintain fallout shelter vault. im excited to play this in my tablet along with my current fallout shelter
The management is actually kinda fun lol. I love reorganizing the stuff around and making people marry each other and have babies. Then pissing off some people just to make the others happy.

I think you've misunderstood the purpose of the game. You first compared it to Fallout Shelter in terms of visuals and I agree that it doesn't look like an Elder Scrolls game. But then you talk about the time and place it's set in, and completely forget the fact that Fallout Shelter is similarly not set in a specific place or time, and that it also has characters from all the games. That's the fun of these games - you get to have all the famous/infamous characters from all the games in just one place. It's silly and wacky, but that's the point. Heroes of Dragon Age did this (RIP HoDA), Fallout Shelter does it, and now ES:Castles does too. Personally for me it's a plus, and I can't wait to play it since I've been waiting for a game like Fallout Shelter but set in a fantasy world for years. FS is one of my favorite games to play on PC when I don't have internet or if I'm just bored but don't have energy to play anything else. I hope ES: Castles will also come to PC.
You make a valid point. It's probable that the devs were trying to go down the "whacky goofy" route but I don't know if that message translated very well to the actual game. I think maybe elder scrolls was the wrong franchise to take this route with because of how seriously some people take the lore and stuff (myself included). Plus the time gaps between the existence of some characters in Fallout vs Elder Scrolls is definitely much much smaller in this case. It was very weird to see them put characters from ESO and skyrim in the same game lol. But yeah I think maybe they could have played around with the silliness aspect a little bit more and made it more obvious, instead of making it look silly because it's bad.

It’s a collector castle sim game. It’s not that deep. Personally I’m really enjoying it. Same as I enjoyed fall out shelter way back when.
