I'm going for a 3 month trip and packed my recent purchase the analog four instead of my usual weapons hoping i will get something out of it and then you post this usefull, interesting and well put together video. i made my day. Thanks Yann !
This is great. How do you find the analog 4 as a pure techno sound engine into Ableton? You're using it how I would. Without the performance part of the Analog 4 and more as just a synth that you record in Ableton. (Ableton Midi to the Analog 4, recording back into Ableton). This would be my desired process too but i'm wondering if there are better techno synths for this process or do you highly rate the Analog 4 for this?
This is indeed helpful. As always. What would be even more helpful would be if you mailed me all your unused hardware. Just kidding. Unless.... (Thanks as always Yan, you rock :) )
@@urmumsbaps Machine are better for live situations, and computer are good to do productions at home, that ´s all. i own Electron Stuff to me that sound lot better (thick) than any VST, then you need to EQ that ´s sure. and you can add pedals effects but i personally recommend to use a DI with guitar pedals, cause they sound lot better if the DI as a variable impedance Knob it ´s also better the return to the mixer also needs a DI.
Thank you for another insightful video! I've noticed you using the frequency shifter a lot and though I can't explain why, it always adds a great character to the sound. From what I know all it does is change the frequency of your sound, ergo the note, am I right? Could you explain to us why you like it so much? :) Thanks!
Hi Yan, this is awesome, i remember you upload a vídeo with a set but with the digitakt only, for that reason i bought one, if you can do a vídeo like this one with the digitakt Will be amazing! Thanks for sharing this 😊
So groovy as usual. Yan, could you tell please how many tracks you have in your projects usually? I've heard that profi have even more than 40 tracks in a project. What do you think? Really appreciate your respond. Thank you.
I usually have around 9-12 tracks in a project, but don't think that you need to have many tracks, just focus on 1 at a time and add a new track only when you really need one.
Man this made me trip The moment at 4:20, when you begin activating every fx in the chain one by one and hearing how the sound takes different shapes and evolves... fucking amazing!! Try adding an LFO to the dry/wet of the frequency shifter! could be fun
I’d play it. I like the one SD you have in there, but not having a main SD is a bummer. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of 4on4 that doesn’t have a main SD.
That final result is just straight up vicious elegance. You are making the kind of techno I've always dreamed of. Thank you.
Absolutely amazing, Yan! Really dig your style and the way you showcase everything. Thanks for that!
Everything that you do looks like it’s rocket science. But damn does it sound amazing.

Love it, more videos on the analog four please!!!
Yan Cook, the Wizard of Ableton. invisible magic wand hits with 134 BPM.
You're such a great artist, thank you for all your work. This final result is just fucking amazing.
Keep it up, your videos are perfect
Love
Love the clap, everything else is on par also, like always. love your stuff!
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you so much.
The analog four sounds so great
Excellent as always Yan!!
How do you into the sound to Ableton? Soundcard directly? Overbridge? Thanks!! Great Video!!
The moment when he activates he finally sidechain the lead
Holy shit
Sweet! Really really niiiiiice!
Do you have different works belongs to different genres. For example deep house or tech house ?
amazing - thanks for showing us the process
Wow, that compressor + reverb is crazy.
That lead sound is ingenious
Wow great stuff!

Inspiring as always!
it all harmonizes so well together in the end. dope and clear sound ✌️🐋💨

Dayyyyng, this will be a banger, you know how to fuck up the warehouse :D . Awesome, as always, Yan!
Sounds like boilerroom ready for me :D Very cool!
Basically you dont need the analog four after so much processing...
I agree it shows the power of Ableton Live. It would be great if Analog Four could do all this, but I am afraid it requires a Maschine Mk3 or equal.
You can record the samples and program it different after on analg four or play it live with more instinct feeling of a machine instead of a dawn
Just depends
@@CinematicLaboratory or you could just use an effects pedal... why on earth would you need a Maschine?

I think that was all playing back recorded audio in the final result but could the A4 play all that in real time?
I fucking love that you started using Elektron. I got a Digitakt and Tone and its dope.
very good as always! 🖤👍
(and Ableton Live) ;) good stuff man!
Gosh, how I missed clubbing... so hot vibe in the track ⚡️🖤 🏢
Another question, master, why not sidechaining at fastest attack?
making techno with digitone?
Excellent !
Yan!!! You legend, could you please give us some insight on how you made Vulture brother?
What’s the best machine for drums and possible sound design?
What did you Side chain the lead to?
Thanks mate! 👊
that lead makes me feel out of this planet..
Kind of reminds me of Front Line Assembly 👍

I just like what it does, makes the sound kind of detuned and abstract 🙃
That lead is gold, but so is the clap

is the glue compressor just used for sidechaining?
On an instrument channel, yes.
is this Industrial or Acid techno?
Could the Digitone produce a similar sound?
Yes, but Digitone is an FM synth, so the sound will be different anyway.
@@YanCook cheers Yan, btw are u planning on releasing any Digitone patches?
@@alandunphy6746 Maybe I will, but in the future 🙂

Less is more, especially in techno.

Guys, many thanks for your answers!
i was thinking about Analog Rytm mk2 what do you think of it? its expensive but looks so much fun, can you share your elektron experience? thank you
I have been working with Rytm MK1, very powerful drum machine, I love Elektron instruments overall, they fun and they challenge your creativity :)
This track is dope
Doesn't adding all those FX to the bass lead to phase issues?
I have no idea, but sounds good to me.
I don't like clean sounds in general, the dirtier the better))
@@YanCook yup I agree with you, if it sounds good, sounds good. But I always had that doubt!
Thanks man!!
Ooft! Excellent!
So sick! Is the software Overbridge? Pretty intuitive? Keep cooking w the awesome sauce & be well!
Yes, Overbridge plugin.

Neural Tech sorry, what is SD?
@@DJDANTRANCE Snare drum maybe ?
No worries, Hector. It is shorthand for Snare Drum. Same as KD is for you guessed it, Kick Drum. 😉

the boss
This is really nice. Are you effectively using Ableton as an effects rack? Do you do this for multiple Elektron boxes? Do you do this live? Ta.
I do use the effects for all instruments, I don't like dry sound)
@@YanCook With Overbridge and audio over USB? Certainly cheaper than buying a load hardware effects. Nice. My A4 arrived today, loads of fun.

That´s not "Making Techno With Analog Four" thats using analog four as "OSC" and FX the hack out of it. Analog Four can get the same sound without FX!
That's how I use it in my production :)
jesus, cut some of that lead, dude. its always playing, bit annoying. shame, since the groove is mighty and juicy. keep up the good work.
This is ridiculous
