One of the most insane things about this album is that Quorthon decided to just do it all himself after a bunch of years of lineup changes. So all the vocals, guitar, bass, and drums are him. Quorthon even multitracked his own vocals to get the backing chorus too. Just by listening to it, you would never guess that all that sound is coming from one guy.

This might be my second favorite Bathory song behind SHORES IN FLAMES. It's so epic and so sorrowful but I'm a sucker for the violent and triumphant themes of Shores in Flames. "Down the coastlines with the wind we reign--Men of the North, we leave the shores in flames" spoken in a half black metal rasp is one of the COLDEST lines of all time.

Quorthon ( peter ) was a storyteller with knowlegde about what he told. Spoke to him once and it lasted 2 hours. A gentle soul that lived very private and loved music.

Those financial moments with God, I've had myself. More so when I was younger and the consequences weren't as dire. But later even as an adult, I'd still have those moments of giving or displaying my faith, and it get rewarded. Sometimes even if I didn't actively do anything, other times, I did put in effort. One of the reasons why I am a "partial Christian." I don't get into the "religion" aspect. But the faith and the idea if what Jesus was trying to portray is what I try to follow.

After this one he wanted to quit the name and his career, then the jubileums albums for money, then the 2 solos, then after fan requests Requiem, which is fxxxxxg great for a thrash one and so on. We have to be very happy, xcept Octagon, though Deuce is OK, that he carried on. Someone out there my opinion🤔❓Nordland was great as legacy.
My fave is THE RETURN since 85 but nevertheless...
