Also the Jimmy Gibbs encounter is insanely rare. This was a day 1 purchase for me and we played it religiously for many years on Xbox and PC (and even play once or so a week today) and I've run into Jimmy maybe 3 times in 14 years lol

I’ve played this game since I was around 10 years old. I’m 23 now, almost 24, and I’ve still never seen Jimmy Gibbs legitimately. I’ve spawned him in with console commands once and that’s all
For the first aid part it makes sense for coach to have a basic understanding due to his past as a teacher, Rochelle probably has around the same level of understanding just in-case she needs to apply first aid to herself or her crew, Nick on the other hand, it's implied that he's a convict or criminal of sorts so he's probably patched up bullet wounds and/or blade wounds before, Ellis only knows how to fix cars, fire guns and drive.
Considering Ellis and his adventures with Keith (if he even exists, implied by dialogue on Dead Center when he starts telling a story about a burning building and killing zombies with Ketih even.) that he may know how to heal said person in case of any mishaps in their trips out in the world.
Nick is the guy that knows how tough it was when trying to survive. He lived in a criminal world as a con artist. He had seen a good amount of shit before the outbreak.

Completely irrelevant to storytelling but I want to discuss it anyway, L4D1 had a way better atmosphere and it's kind of hard to pin down why. The setting of the individual stories, mostly taking place in rainy dark urban jungles. This alone is HUGE. It may not be unique, but that's the point. A dense metropolis is a familiar place, corrupted by the zombie outbreak. You imagine what the inhabitants were like before the apocalypse. The more unique locations in L4D2 are definitely cool, but they are less relatable, no question. The common infected and even specials looking like real people turned crazy. Compare L4D1 commons to L4D2 commons, while on paper L4D2 commons have more literal variety as they have RNG color systems for their clothing and skin, the L4D1 infected in reality are far more varied. You have white people, asians, black people, elderly, young, turned infected. You had police officers, soldiers, aircraft handlers, rural and urban looking infected, etc. The sound effects were FAR more punchy, common infected had (while hardly noticeable) more unique voicelines. The L4D1 crew being far more grounded than their comical L4D2 counterparts. I said it's hard to pin down why L4D1's atmosphere was better, and listed a bunch of things as to why, but the reason why it's hard to understand is because most of everything I discussed is still in L4D2, but there's just more to it than that. It's like a weird nagging feeling that it just doesn't hit as hard as it did in the original L4D1. It's all just personal taste however, and mostly nostalgia. I, myself, am a sucker for the late 2000s era, and while L4D2 was released in this era, it feels like it wasn't, for better or for worse. I would still obviously rather play L4D2 because it has everything from L4D1 and more, including seamless modding support. And L4D1 is missing A LOT of the charming character dialogue from L4D2. Characters worldbuilding by talking about, for example, the Whispering Oaks or the Midnight Riders, that shit is undoubtedly cool.
Carnival. Also, spotting or killing Jimmy Gibbs Jr. brings out some dialogue from either Ellis or Coach, just like how Ellis was screaming earlier when you were shooting at him. Rochelle also has the most dialogue about knowing the special infected names too.

10:07 I like how the squeeks sound effect on the Clown's shoes are singular and on time with his one shoe on when he steps with that foot specifically, it's the small things that make this game great because this game is really simple at it's core.
One completely underrated detail in both L4D and L4D2 is how realistic the sound design is, certain noises are not only loud in volume, but they also muffle lower, less loud sounds, helicopters engines are louder than your character's voice and infected but not louder than gunfire, fireworks in Dark Carnival are just as loud as gunfire and jet engines in The Parish completely muffle all noise when they pass. Also unrelated to sound, depending on the distance you use "Look!" while looking at a character, they will scream their name, say it loud, or talk in a normal tone.

Left 4 Dead 2 remains one of my absolutely favorite games, it's amazing to see all the details placed into the world. Environmental storytelling, dialogue, etc. I love the dialogue of the characters
Growing up on the series since it first released, I was aware of everything except the squirt flowers on the infected clowns actually squirting out water. That's a detail I've gone nearly a decade and a half never knowing about.
Not gonna lie, I went into this expecting obvious details like a fair few of those clickbaity kinda lists do, but these are actually genuinely interesting facts I didn't know about. I'm both impressed and excited to go back and play this game some more. Great editing too by the way! Simple and effective.
@@daegnaxqelil2733 you just have a bad taste in gaming lmao the game is played vanilla by half of the fanbase also the gun animations can be explained by one thing: it's valve in the mid to late-2000's plus OF COURSE IT'S NOT ORIGINAL GUNS DID YOU EXPECT A LASER GUN IN A (slightly) GROUNDED GAME LIKE LEFT 4 DEAD???
In relation to the mic actually amplifying your voice, if you go up to the mic in dark carnival as Coach or Ellis they will sing some verses from the Midnight Riders. The band that was supposed to play.
I think what i find impressive is that they made over thousand upon thousands of animations to shoot or melee the infected they all don’t die the same way but can get you some interesting or cool kills im not entirely too sure about the thousand animations but like one of the comments mentioned that these details are so small and some go unnoticed when its a fast paced experience but when you slow down you relized that the small details and many other cool hidden mechanics and details is what makes this game easily the best action zombie shooter to exist

Whats more interesting is ellis healing animation is different from the rest of the survivors. We can see that ellis is still more of a noob in using the first aid kit
Was that always there? Or was that a recent implimentation from the Last Stand Update or something? Because I definitely remember him using the normal animation back then.
@@SpearraPretty sure it's a recent addition, Coach and the female survivors all have their own self-healing animations also, and I believe there's new animations for healing while crouched
Another cool little detail I suppose for the Dark Carnival final level is that if you're playing as Ellis, there's a chance he'd sing a Midnight Rider song if you stand in front of the mic on the stage.
Professional coaches isn't really use them anymore, there's a specified people for first aid to injured players. So even if he was trained to use them, probably didn't used himself all that much
Ah yes, being called a hacker and getting kicked of some rooms because i destroyed some tanks rocks never got old. Knowing that and never noticing how they didn't decided the special infected names until later feels weird, lol.
@@JoeyRhubarb You'd be surprised. Most people didn't actually know it was possible until the achievement for it was added. Same with cutting smoker tongues and skeeting hunters. Many obvious things aren't very obvious the a casual player.
@@JoeyRhubarb Well, maybe it got mostly known after some years, haven't played left for dead myself in probably 8-9 years. But certainly around the time i was fully commited to play it i would get kicked out of some room for breaking tank rocks at least once a day, of course there were also some people that would tell "everyone can do that" and vote no. The older the game the "wisest" the playerbase becomes anyway.
To add to your Strength Affected by Health section, I am pretty sure the melee weapons also have different "strengths" you can view with the melee game. Guitar and axe I remember being very "heavy" and hitting high on the chart while say something like the sword/katana hit on the lighter side. I used to think that you had to pair the adrenaline and a heavy melee to ring and break the bell.
A timeless masterpiece, we rarely ever seen games with a lot of details like L4D2 these days. Which make it even sadder how Valve treats this game. Only Dota and CS all they care about :(
I will never get tired of L4d2. I always loved it, but was a PlayStation player till I got my hands on it on Steam. You meet the best people, and the infinite modding will always keep this gem alive as well as its solid gamplay from bottom up.
Yessss, nothing beats playing modded campaigns with randoms, sometimes it feels like the beginning of dead center where the survivors slowly start to get to know each other
Coincidentally I saw Jimmy Gibbs Jr. yesterday playing L4D2. I was fighting off the hordes then there was this one zombie that stood out among the rest of them. I took a closer look and he was wearing the same suit just like the guy in the poster. I was like; "no way is that zombie jimmy?!" lol.
It's good that you upload videos of details of older games, I'm going to put some details that I know in case there is a second part You can cut out the smoker's tongue with a sharp weapon The graffitis are very funny to read for their details Special Infected can be put out in water if they are on fire, or with a fire extinguisher.
I bought this game a decade ago, and it has been my most played game ever since a couple of days after that. I played with Ellis on at least 95% of the matches I've played, on the countless hours I have on this game... _...and I have _*_never_*_ heard _*_any_*_ of those healing lines before_ A game so old, played for so many hours, that still has new things to show, is nothing short of impressive
Squeaky noises are actually attached the other zombies like pipe. So bash them isn't the best option. And conversations are so well done that many of them you didn't hear because it depends on how many of them are alive. How many health they have and of course place and actual situation. There's so many details in this game. Still the best game ever made. Can't wait to play it on VR
7:11 - 8:23 the fact all of them say that they don't know how the medkit works shows that even though their the main characters their still civilians in a middle of an apocalypse
There is a good detail in the Dead Air campaign, on the airport when you kill some yellow staff zombies, some of them will make an static sound of zombie's grunts on they radio, i realized this today when playing singleplayer, after more than 600 hours
Just played portal 2 for the first time, but played l4d2 back in the day heaps. Valve really knows how to make amazing games, such care goes into these when you listen to their commentary
Portal2 Co-Op at night with one of my best friends 12 years ago was one of the best gaming exps I ever had.. together with early DayZ Mod and CSS matches haha
The entire skit with Jimmy Gibbs Jr. is so hysterically well-executed. The entire game you hear Coach and Ellis hail him as a legend and a hero, and it makes Ellis screaming "NOOOOOOOO" feel so genuine and full of agony at the realization that Jimmy Gibbs Jr. wasn't immune and he now has to kill his hero not just personally, but one he held on such a pedestal he would be depriving the entire country of a legend
Honestly the only thing INSANE about any of these were noticing the clowns only have 1 clown shoe yet still make a squeak when walking on their barefoot.
To me the most INSANE thing is that you noticed the 1 shoe part but still somehow missed the fact that they only squeak that shoe and their bare foot makes no sounds
Not only Charger uses the ceiling to smash survivors but also the walls if he can. If you decide, for some reason, to look at the main menu bg animations like Parish's bg, you'll notice two infected fighting each other. According to Valve's dev commentaries, they're like that since the infected are still humans after all (not like that much people play the dev commentaries, so who cares). And if your bored as hell and go look the achievements list, you'll know there are indeed some little details like destroy the Tank's rock, honk clown noses, killing every single type of uncommon infected once, killing Jimmy Gibbs Jr or _"proving that you're stronger than Moustachio"._
Apart from the Jimmy Gibbs one since that isn't an achievement, the rest are spot on! There are also other nice details not mentioned in the video either that are achievements, such as sharp melee weapons being capable of cutting a smoker tongue right before it hits you, the secret golden crowbar room in The Last Stand (And the various golden crowbars hidden throughout the survival maps.) Even some people surprisingly don't notice that if you sacrifice yourself as Bill in the Sacrifice, you get an achievement tied to that since Bill canonically dies in that campaign (Was shown in the official comic for the campaign which I def recommend checking out!) and in the Passing you can see his dead body propped up inside a room near the generator.
My brother and I occasionally play this game in Realism, Expert mode. And it's sure as hell frustrating and still enjoyable. You'd be surprised that there are 30k plus people are still playing this on Steam, daily. Totally a classic game 💯
nobody can replace L4D2 as the greatest Zombie Apocalypse game ever. Not even dying light. This game is just legendary. Replay value is beyond any other of the same genre. A really perfect game if you're stress as heck. Really satisfying to see zombies fly using a shotgun. I tell you this game is the best! I wouldn't recommend any other.
I've been playing Left 4 Dead 2 for YEARS and there's always something new in store. Turns out, if Nick uses a medkit before the first room in Dead Center (and before anyone else) there's a chance the other survivors react to it if close enough to watch him. Specially Ellis, he goes like "ooh! So THAT'S how you use a medkit!", "I better watch you so I learn as well." Not sure if it works the other way round but Nick will point out he already knows what he's doing while using one, just like he does when he heals others.
A trip down memory lane, all the voices, noises and sounds the zombies make is so nostalgic, wish I was a kid again experiencing these games for the first time again.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a brilliant timeless classic.
A testament to Valve's ability to make great, well thought out games.

@@daegnaxqelil2733 why touch it if its already finished. Besides, its not like the community is dead in left 4 dead thanks to modding.
Played Dark Carnival recently and whenever you’re in the tunnel of love and callout a specific item that will be called by its name and not generalized like with primary weapons, Ellis will add a “…of love here.” At the end of the callout

Left 4 Dead 2 remains one of my absolutely favorite games, it's amazing to see all the details placed into the world. Environmental storytelling, dialogue, etc. I love the dialogue of the characters
The Left 4 Dead games are timeless classics.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
The tank rubble thing is nuts 🤯
@@daegnaxqelil2733ok
@@daegnaxqelil2733 you just have a bad taste in gaming lmao the game is played vanilla by half of the fanbase
also the gun animations can be explained by one thing: it's valve in the mid to late-2000's

@@lambda-m1676 how would you know about the half? if they all have that bad taste? about playing a game which offer nothing satisfying
The amount of detail put into this game is amazing, modern AAA games don’t even have this level of detail.
Yes they do. You just haven't watched a video pointing them all out.
@@TheJayson8899 I was over exaggerating.
Red Dead 2 is a good contender, beautiful game
@@drummerdude476 Agreed, Rockstar put so much love into that game.
wheres church gaming?
4:25
If coach will be the first to spot the bus, he'll say something like "I think I just saw... Nah"
5:58 "IT'S EXPLODING GUY!" The way Ellis said that caught me offguard😂
"Carnival". Left 4 Dead 2 remains a great fun game. Years later and I admit I wasn't aware of the intercoms and mics being functional!
Thanks for watching & yeah it's easy to miss, but a nice touch!
@@oKnightzo I've been playing for who knows how long taking tank rubble in the face, not knowing it can be shot midair.... Thank you
I was surprised by that, too. Just when you think you know the game in and out lol
that game was just bland, not great at all. the characters were anti-charismatic, the musics not genius , the guns have bad clunky animations , with their models seen over over instead of more original guns , the graphics has aged badly... just like Fallout 4 , this game is 100% better with well-made mods.

In versus mode, the tank can also break the mustachio game and cause the horde to spawn
You almost don’t want that to happen as a tank tho cause if they boomer bile you then you just sealed your death warrant

Whats more interesting is ellis healing animation is different from the rest of the survivors. We can see that ellis is still more of a noob in using the first aid kit
Was that always there? Or was that a recent implimentation from the Last Stand Update or something? Because I definitely remember him using the normal animation back then.
@@SpearraPretty sure it's a recent addition, Coach and the female survivors all have their own self-healing animations also, and I believe there's new animations for healing while crouched
in l4d1 everyone has the same healing animation except zoe, which bites her bandage while wrapping it around and such
This video made me appreciate the character chemistry so much more. Also, Ellis is genuinely hysterical with his comments, gotta love that guy.
Haha, yeah, Ellis' comments... By the way, did you hear about his friend Keith? (Ellis' quotes page on wiki mentions Keith 58 times, kek)
Ellis' and Francis' down screams make my days

Another cool little detail I suppose for the Dark Carnival final level is that if you're playing as Ellis, there's a chance he'd sing a Midnight Rider song if you stand in front of the mic on the stage.

Have the best memories playing this game. So many hours spent in lobbies waiting for vs mode.
This is honestly why I come back to play this game over and over. These small and great details make it so much better
Ah yes, being called a hacker and getting kicked of some rooms because i destroyed some tanks rocks never got old.
Knowing that and never noticing how they didn't decided the special infected names until later feels weird, lol.
Thought most people knew tank rocks could be destroyed, it's a pretty commonly utilised mechanic in vs?
@Man of Tomorrow And how many people actually read it?
I just found out you can do that to the Boulders
3:39 bruh you trample the zombie 😂😂😂😂
I'm a simple man I see Left4Dead2 video I click on the like button.
"Its just a 2009 game"
The 2009 game:
this game has more detail than most games released now
A timeless masterpiece, we rarely ever seen games with a lot of details like L4D2 these days.
Yessss, nothing beats playing modded campaigns with randoms, sometimes it feels like the beginning of dead center where the survivors slowly start to get to know each other
Where to find mod map sir?
6:11 It's not physics, it's animated by hand. C_models can't have simulated physics.
Really?
I think the clowns have 1k health, so their fight goes on far longer than the average Common Infected fights.
versus each other?
Cap they have the same health which is 50 HP, same as the common infected
I think your talking about jimmy gibbs jr
@@OriginalName011 Jimmy Gibbs have 3K HP
Nah it took long because betwen commons they get a damage reduction and also they were constantly bumping each other and getting stunned by it
3:57 It can also use a wall to slam a aurvivors head aganist. Ive seen an animation where the charger slams them into a wall headfirst.
Coincidentally I saw Jimmy Gibbs Jr. yesterday playing L4D2. I was fighting off the hordes then there was this one zombie that stood out among the rest of them. I took a closer look and he was wearing the same suit just like the guy in the poster. I was like; "no way is that zombie jimmy?!" lol.

fun little fact: survivor's have different animations depends on their health when getting pummeled by charger
It's good that you upload videos of details of older games, I'm going to put some details that I know in case there is a second part
You can cut out the smoker's tongue with a sharp weapon
The graffitis are very funny to read for their details
Special Infected can be put out in water if they are on fire, or with a fire extinguisher.
6:03 The way Ellis says "Holy sheet! KEEL IT!" Just cracks me up.
I never realized Left 4 Dead 2 had that many details.
Nice one spotting them

WOW THAT WAS TRULEY SOME INSANE CRAZY DETAILS TNKS 4 SHARE!
I usually know a few of these details but surprisingly most of these ones were new for me.
"The infected will occasionally fight one another"
Ah yes, just like normal humans
I played this game for 11 years i wish that they made a remastered for the xbox series s and x
I bought this game a decade ago, and it has been my most played game ever since a couple of days after that. I played with Ellis on at least 95% of the matches I've played, on the countless hours I have on this game...
_...and I have _*_never_*_ heard _*_any_*_ of those healing lines before_
A game so old, played for so many hours, that still has new things to show, is nothing short of impressive
When's VR?
I have 4k hours on this game and never noticed they use cash for bonfires. This game is a gift that keeps on giving.😊
The thing is that it's a L4D campaign ported to L4D2. So it was like that in the OG L4D
1:32 ... this one you learn when playing Multiplayer for SUUUUUUUUUUURE. There is no escape from voice spam
lmao
7:11 - 8:23 the fact all of them say that they don't know how the medkit works shows that even though their the main characters their still civilians in a middle of an apocalypse
I have played this game for so many years and I am still to this day learning more and more facts I thought I already knew
The f*cking clown fight is hilarious. This game is still gold
There is a good detail in the Dead Air campaign, on the airport when you kill some yellow staff zombies, some of them will make an static sound of zombie's grunts on they radio, i realized this today when playing singleplayer, after more than 600 hours
This is why Left 4 Dead 2 is all time legendary.
It's unbelievable how much love was put into this game
Just played portal 2 for the first time, but played l4d2 back in the day heaps. Valve really knows how to make amazing games, such care goes into these when you listen to their commentary
Portal2 Co-Op at night with one of my best friends 12 years ago was one of the best gaming exps I ever had.. together with early DayZ Mod and CSS matches haha
The way Ellis just straight up WAILS , when he is forced to gun down his hero.
The voice acting in these games is... incredible.
Everything is.
This game will not die and I'm grateful for that
I like how nick and Rochelle sounds confident but then we got Ellis unsure what he is doing and same goes with coach but was sort of healer
10:34 me and my brother fighting for a piece of bread on the table last night😂😂
There are also other nice details not mentioned in the video either that are achievements, such as sharp melee weapons being capable of cutting a smoker tongue right before it hits you, the secret golden crowbar room in The Last Stand (And the various golden crowbars hidden throughout the survival maps.)
Even some people surprisingly don't notice that if you sacrifice yourself as Bill in the Sacrifice, you get an achievement tied to that since Bill canonically dies in that campaign (Was shown in the official comic for the campaign which I def recommend checking out!) and in the Passing you can see his dead body propped up inside a room near the generator.
My brother and I occasionally play this game in Realism, Expert mode. And it's sure as hell frustrating and still enjoyable. You'd be surprised that there are 30k plus people are still playing this on Steam, daily. Totally a classic game 💯
3:39 I’ve played 100 hours of this game, and yet, I never knew you can kill a zombie by falling on them.
nobody can replace L4D2 as the greatest Zombie Apocalypse game ever.
9:50 That's what l4d2 players call real clowning.
I always use them when I want to jokingly insult my friend.
"Hey look! It's your father, you fucking clown."
Love that out of all characters nick knows how to use a medkit the most
02:40 I've played this game countless hours and completed this campaign so many times, how many times have i seen him? 3-4 times
