We have the pleasure to present you the first Flash mob event that took place in Manchester, and was organized by Greek and Cypriot students.
Greek Flash mob takes place in various cities in the UK each year, where university students dance a famous Greek traditional song “Zorbas”.
Choreographers, dancers, and organizers tried to give an idea to the English community of our traditions and our country.
We hope that you’ll enjoy the video and send us your positive feedback, so we can organize more Flash mob events in the future.

Τhe reason the woman hits the floor with her hand while dancing is a symbolic move as in we hit the ground so our deaseaced ancestors can feel that we are alive and free due to their sacrifice.
Who knew Manchester England had a large Greek community. Wow! Wherever the Greeks go, they bring their zest for life and wonderful traditions and the foods and wines,
There are a lot of Universities in the UK especially in England.. so yeah, a lot of Greek and Cypriot kids go there for their studies

as a canadian Greek I can tell you that 99% of Greeks send their kids to Greek school and dancing so we have strong cultural base.

Zhto Ellas and Kypros I'm a BRIT lived in in Kypros in 1974 for 3 months unfortunately I was evacuated with my Mother and my siblings due to the invasion by the Turkish army . But I would marry a Greek woman in 1989 after a whirlwind romance, but now we are divorced. I left Greece for good in 2012 leaving my two adult sons with their mother. I'm not Greek, but, love them. During our ships tour of the Gulf of Tonkin, we had been at see for 45 days and were really ready for port call. The oldest gentleman in our unit was Greek. One evening he pulled out some 33rpm records and we all learned to dance like that. Other units thought were crazy, but, what a time we had.

They’re not actually dancers (it was arranged of course) these are just kids from Greece and Cyprus who went to the UK for their studies. But yeah, this music is really beautiful
Love Manchester! When I lived in Vancouver, BC the Greek community always had a great festival every summer. I lived in that part of the city and there were so many Greek restaurants, etc. Now a lot of that neighbourhood has been taken over by yuppies. Go Greek! 🇬🇷

I really like the way when forming the circles, they leave gaps so anyone can join in. I like the way the dancer in the center of a circle pulls another to take the place. I really, really like the way they are all enjoying it. This is truly something unique to the Greeks, and I envy it.

I love the spirit that comes from the Greek music and the dancing. I have fond memories of traveling through the Islands and meeting the wonderful Greek people.
More, more, please more. It brought tests to my eyes and lifted my heart to be filled with joy. I have always wanted to learn more about this dance, and learn several of the traditional dances. I am one who loves to learn about cultures, customs and nationality. I'm not even sure if they do this unless it's a church bizarre here in the US. One of the places I want to visit is England and travel from London and throughout the Country. As well many of the neighboring countries. Sadly, many people I know have a narrow mind when it comes to people from different countries and customs. I personally enjoy the difference. It's how I learn and appreciate the difference and be blessed in it.

I live in Melbourne Australia(the largest Greek city outside Greece) every year we have a Greek festival I'm going to suggest to the city council we have a flash mob Zorba dance and really make Greece proud

I am from the Philippines but filipinos and Greeks are the same in almost every way for one they are both super friendly, they are both very religious and they both value family. And also there is a small Greek community in the Philippines mostly Immgrants and expats but their curently offical population in Philippines is unkown but hopeful when the Philippine 2020 census comes I can find how many Greek living in the Philippines. But for now its estimated that there are 100 Greeks in the Philippines but according to the Philippine 2010 population census there were about 129 Greeks living in the Country. Love the Greek community in the Philippines.
