      GPD Game Console Hey guys ive had my win 2 since july and im in love with it, easily the best purchase i have ever made, only problem is that my keyboard keys have started to fall off. they will not hold on if i hot glue them either, the keys that fell off are important, the start button the xbox home button and my alt and fn keys fell off

      My GPD Win 2 battery died and when I went to replace the battery the shell broke. I'm out to blame the shell already had a crack but I thought it was a manufacturering defect didn't expect to see it just break the hinge. After researching the hinge was too tight which caused it to break. Even when opening it I felt pressure before it broke sad now I can only use gpd always plugged in device until I get a shell replacement.

    Mine gpd win 2 screen broke after 4months of use. Have not use it since then. Might use it as a server or something. Quite stressful walking around with a device that might break any second. Just wanted to be able to program anytime even while standing. Will still use my stable sony vaio duo 13 7+years.

    I own both a GPD Win 1 and 2. Still use them both, although the Win 2 is much more of a powerhouse with the faster CPU and 64-bit archicture. Being able to run stuff like Naomi 2, Sega Model 3, GameCube, and more demanding PS2 titles on my lunch break is surreal.
    If you have a Switch power adapter, spare USB hub (recommend Sabrent) lying around and a compatible microHDMI cable, you could use the Win 2 as a game console as well, granted you let the air flow out of the bottom vent. I would also recommend using a wireless Logitech keyboard + the Unifying receiver if you're going to download games on it. Worth the 600 buckaroos. For years I've always wanted to drive my bike around in Harley-Davidson: L.A. Riders on the go, and it's finally playable on this thing with Supermodel. I'd say it's worth buying 2 years later.

    Personally the win 2 is not there for me yet. As said in the video it is a good device for what it is but overall it needs improving. Particularly in the cooling area which is my biggest gripe with the win 2. This device gets uncomfortably hot. It is a handheld so keeping a comfortable temperature is crucial and the win 2 fails miserably in this area. I sold mine primarily because of this.

    • @TeamXCaliber

    9:34 Hard to say how performance compares since it's not out yet, but in terms of emulation potential I'm guessing the upcoming DragonBox Pyra will probably be similar. There are various trade-offs I can see between the two devices from your review: the Pyra is almost certainly slower and can't run Windows games, but it has a backlit keyboard, more durable LCD cable judging by what you've said here, and it should have a much better battery life than what you described (I have its predecessor, the OpenPandora, which has 10-12 hours real use battery life; the Pyra is attempting to get as close to that as possible). But overall they seem to be pretty similar alternatives, just aimed at different priorities and audiences.

    I bought the Win2 through Indiegogo .
    Worked fine for about year, then the left hinge broke, which is a known issue.
    I ordered a new case and it was a lot of work to replace the case. You have to remove everything to change the case.
    During this process, the display ribbon broke, which is pretty fragile.
    So I had to get a new one of those, which took a while.
    Got that working and then found the battery died too...
    I have since replaced that and all works fine now.
    I've been pretty careful with this device, although I used it a LOT.
    I feel this is a fragile device and feel the hinge was a design flaw and the display ribbon should have been more robust too .
    Still, it's really fun to use and if you're a technically minded enthusiastic for this sort of device and willing to do your research to get games working properly etc, I still don't regret buying this.

    • @TeamXCaliber
      @TeamXCaliber  4 роки тому +1

    • @danskmacabre
      @danskmacabre 4 роки тому

      @@TeamXCaliber I was disappointed that the battery died, as it was fairly pricey to replace.
      But perhaps I damaged it when I replaced the case.
      The process to replace the battery is very easy at least.
      The Display ribbon was a little more work to replace, but you don't have to dismantle everything to replace it.
      The biggest part was dismantling the button mechanism and getting the cable wrapped up right to go through the hinge mechanism.

    • @TeamXCaliber

    Recently started playing mass effect on the Win 2 and it runs better than it did on the ps3. It’s an amazing way to play only marred by the ergonomics of the pad itself. Personally I would have preferred larger more ergonomic shoulder/trigger buttons and clickable thumb sticks.
    I’ve had mine since launch and have completed loads of games on it and it’s amazing the quality of games that will run on it.
    It’s a fantastic bit of kit
    I also think the smach z looks like garbage.

    I wouldnt give up my win2 for anything. My only issues with it over the last year and a half has been related to the build quality (which is excellent, but not very durable... for sure not durable enough for a handheld)
    I've had to replace a broken hinge (which means I had to change the entire lower shell), my trigger buttons are spotty (sometimes they double click, sometimes they dont click at all), my battery puffed out and needed to be replaced, and my SD card slot stopped working completely.
    90% of these issues is because I am pretty rough with it (leaving it loose in bags and pockets. Almost daily use. Etc) but I feel like a lot of my problems would have been solved if the unit was made with a bit more metal in strategically placed areas

I knew exactly what I was choosing for myself, So I actually started investing time and effort to make games work and work better! and now.. i'm hooked. the time and effort it takes to go through each and every setting to read forums and discuss with the community to find the ideal settings for that extra few fps... that's what makes it all so special... so yeah.. GPD WIN2 is what made PC gaming possible for me... and I cannot imagine going away from portable PC gaming ever!

    Work the 3ds emulator?

  • @lu-andoan1990
    @lu-andoan1990 5 років тому +2

    Lol! I've been using it for almost 2 years =)))) of course it has some issue by itself, but everything was fine for me. I have a decent PC, but most of a time I like laying on bed playing game, on my couch or anywhere else. thats why I prefer handheld console to another console.
    I play 3DS emulator with high resolution and believe me! it looks good as hell! some WiiU's title is emulated well on the device by that time now. For some reason, I spent a lot of time for emulating game on this device, but of course I played PC game on it also. Fighting is my most favourite genre, but there's not many titles on handheld device (like Nswitch for an example!) Therefore, I pretty enjoy playing tekken 7 or SoulCalibur6 on it over hours and I have to say they look not that bad with low setting (because of a small display, everything looks just fine)
    Besides, with a huge steam's library which is much much cheaper price compared to switch, playing game in handheld mode with this device is pretty good!

      Excellent points Luan.. I agree with your comment, its ab excellent handheld hybrid console/pc that does out perform every other handheld in the same size class.

      I guess the reason they are still making a lot of money with it is due to the form factor.. The small pocketable pc gaming umpc is the selling point of it... As no other device currently on the market offers the same portability.
