I think because 2 years ago the S15 as it didn't actually run run or was street-able.
On that note I think Alberto needs to get more credit for his work. He rebuilt that 2JZ 2 years ago & unlike the other cars (I'm looking at you S13) Adam drives hard it hasn't had an issue. Sure Enjuku ripped everything else apart, transmission included, but that engine is 75-80% Alberto's work. I'm counting the headers/exhaust system & fuel management in that 20-25% against Big Boost.

honestly, $49,990 isnt far off what th MK4 Supra sold for when it was new. Toyota hasnt strayed far from the original price points to keep it SOMEWHAT affordable for somebody who wants a nice daily driver sports car with modern amenities such as AC/TCS/VSC and 340hp without the headaches of a modifed car.

cant forget the dealer markups, im gonna assume that dealerships are going to mark them up ~30k making the new supra 80k
im a toyota lover, ive owned 12 of them so far. but i have to point out that $49k for a car with only 340hp is foolish.
you can buy a turbo 4cyl mustang or camaro for ~$20k, and with just a tune make 360hp. or you could buy a camaro ss or mustang gt for ~$30k and have 450hp totally stock. hell, you can get a base model c7 vette for $50k

The worst part about the new Supra, which over all I think is a cool car, is that you don’t get the reliability and sturdy base of a Toyota.
The best thing about a Toyota is their longevity and their engines typically are over built. They’ve now sacrificed that with a German drivetrain.
Much rather would’ve seen a z4 with a Toyota drivetrain imo.
Warranties on new cars are to the moon and back, reliability isn't a concern with people buying 2 seater GT cars.
I really don't like bmw, but if you take care of their straight sixes, they'll run forever
too bad BMW is the only large producer of I6 motors today. There's really no option if you think about it holistically.

check the intercooler boots. Ive had boost leaks that would not show in a smoke test but would make noise under boost. when theres no pressure the silicone closes up the hole

Squealing could be gasket related. Head to manifold or turbo to manifold - turbo cars will high pitched squeal instead of tick or putt and sometimes will dissapear when they get a good seal (heat expands metals etc) Easy way to test is hold a bunch of rags and block off tail pipe to create pressure and if it squeals you got a gasket problem son.

You're entirely right Adam! The new Supra is meant for people who don't really know anything about the cars lineage (or much about cars at all) and just want the name that they heard "all the kids like". It's not excessive enough to be like a modern tuner super car. But it's not simple enough to be a classic and smooth tuner, due to its over the top styling and tech they added on. If it had no fake vents, a simple front end and interior, and less cuts everywhere for the body panels, it could at least look classic.

Florida is such a wonderful place to live if you have a modified car. He would only get pulled over if a cop decided the exhaust was too loud and I doubt that will happen. I haven't ever been pulled over for a loud car exhaust. If Harley Davidson's don't get in trouble, nobody should get in trouble.

They’re mainstream in the car community. Your average consumer will not know or give a shit about those cars. Where as the Supra will target a market who clearly have no interest in the history of the Supra branding. Similar to the R35 market.
And on a side note, those cars are known in the community for a reason, and I love seeing different takes and builds on JDM legends.

Since you already have a broken key you should do one of those screwdriver mods you take a stubby screwdriver and you heat up the metal part with a torch until it starts to melt the plastic and then you use needle-nose pliers to pull the screwdriver out then cut the Little Wings off your screwdriver so it's just a Straight Shaft go ahead and Heat up the key with the torch holding it with the pliers and once it's hot enough insert it into the screwdriver. Either that or you can drill a hole in the screwdriver and you some two-part epoxy. Then once it's dry your key looks like a stubby screwdriver

When my turbo was making that squealing noise it was a leak from the turbo being slightly loose off the manifold and then it happened again when my gasket blew out
