A brilliant move is a really good sacrifice that can be the the best move but doesn't have to be a best move. A great move is the only good move in a position or a hard to find move that isn't necessarily the best.
@@danielchmielewski8568 black didn't have an advantage, he was holding on for a draw. In that position sacrificing the rook is the only (I think) move that keeps the position drawn for black, hence why it is brilliant

Now you know.
In the first game I know it's probably a table base draw, but I'm sueprised at the lack of moving the queen for defense. He's up two pawns, if he can force a trade of queens that is major advantage. Of course stockfish probably wouldn't make the mistake of allowing something like that though

The engine evaluating gets far longer time to evaluate it, The entire game was played in a 100 ms format (Ultrabullet on crack). The multipv thing just means that it uses max engine lines, usually stockfish uses a method to select which lines is better to evaluate.
The same engine doesn't play always the same move after a certain amount of time. There are things like "hash tables" which contain a small random component.
Will future stockfish engines likely be able to defeat this stockfish 16 engine? Like what if you put stockfish 10 or something (an older version) against this one, does white win sometimes, does black win, do they still draw? A lot of people are saying perfect play is a draw but this engine probably isn't playing as perfect as a solved chess engine would play right? A solved chess engine vs a solved chess engine could be an automatic win or loss for white instead of a draw.
Engine vs an engine = draw. Because all of the engines are nearly playing perfect play. But these engines fights are being faked in the first few moves so the match will be unbalanced a bit that there will be a disparity.

its come to this.... getting 3800 elo 2024AD engines to behave like 2300 elo engines from the mid 1990s... otherwise they draw 1000s of games even when dodgy openings are forced.
You wasted compute time by setting MultiPV greater than 1. This option is useful for human analysis (i.e. you need to visualize evaluated moves). Without visualization you just ask stockfish to spend part of time to evaluate obviously bad moves (how to self-mate), and throw the result of these calculations away.
Chess is so complex that it can potentially survive the human civilisation. It can't be solved in near future of at least millions of years even by super technology quantum computers. Unlikely to be solved in future. We do have 7 piece endgame solved and will have 8 piece too in some years. But it is exponential time problem.
How much time did you give them, how much memory and processor cores have you allocated for calculating moves? And did you use a fast version of stockfish or a slow one?
Chees isn't solved though. If this stockfish 16 is playing perfectly, does that mean it will always draw against a perfect stockfish 22? Does it draw against a perfect stockfish 12? How do you know stockfish 16 is playing perfectly is my question

Never knew moves made to result in a draw (despite having advantage) would be shown as "great" or "brilliant".

Stockfish 10 vs Stockfish 16.1 would mostly be a draw with some occasional wins for Stockfish 16.1
