12:15 Firebird's and Camaro's were shipped to Belgium as CKD and most British registered versions were sourced through Belgium, the first owners usually being US air bases.
That's a good point. I prefer the traditional AMT/Monogram style box with the lift-off lid, but for some reason European kits are packaged in this end flap box.
@@SpringerModelReviews atleast you know now to inspect kit before leaving hobby shop . Mail order I guess you can request for them to inspect and package it so nothing is pushing down on the center of the box. Lol. Maybe they need to add those plastic do-hickys they put 8n the center of a pizza pie box.
@@SpringerModelReviews I had a friend Tony who was from England who lived next door. He moved back to Norwich. But he never mentioned British folks who had a liking to American automobiles. I guess it was do to the cost of a litre of petro ? I'm not aware of British cars with V8's. Are there any ?
@@howardharaway2259 I was at a classic car show at Faversham recently and there were a couple of 65 Mustangs, a Mercury Comet, a 55 Cadillac sedan and 2 C3 Corvettes in the mix. Yep petrol costs have traditionally limited car engine sizes here, and our confined cities limit the vehicle sizes. But we had plenty of British cars with V8s, Rolls Royce, Rover, Jaguar, Morgan, TVR, Bristol, Triumph, Jensen, MG and more.
Thanks for the review. Whats interesting is my Revell 1:24 kit i bought a couple years ago (which is about the time you released this video) does not have the Trans Am decals for the front fenders or the back of the trunk spoiler. Might have been that trademark issue. Too bad for me though as I might have to find this kit just for the decals as I want it to look correct and match my 1:1 Doh!!!
Your quite right. This is not really a new kit. It is originally a Monogram kit that has been reissued by Revell after they merged with Monogram. Also this is most definitely a Trans Am. The reason they don't call it that is that the SCCA ( Sports Car Club of America) owns the name Trans Am. Revell would have to license the name. It's a great kit. I have two of them, one original issue and one from a few years ago. The new decal sheet is awesome. Far better than previous releases. The T/A was originally only available in white or blue.
Thanks Rob, that's great information and you have certainly settled a couple of questions that I had! I am becoming quite a fan of these ex-Monogram kits and very happy that Revell are re-popping some of them.
Firebirds with the dual hood scoops were the FORMULAS. Of course Smokey and the Bandit featured a 77 T/A There are two other American films that feature T/A's. One is. " Corvette Summer". The other is called "CANNONBALL". That's not be confused with another 70's car movie titled "Cannonball Run"
Great review, Springer 👍but I do wish you'd open bags with scissors😀I cringe in fear with you and that knife😳. Looks like a rebox with new wheels and better 'decals'. I think there was a california wheels series issue by monogram🤔. Anyway, thanks a lot from a sweltering hot, not, other part of jolly old England 😃. 🤓Pete 😎
Well I like to keep you all on the edge of your seats with my reckless bag opening :-D Thanks for watching, ah yes it could well have been a California Wheels edition at some point. Enjoy the sunshine!
@@SpringerModelReviews Pegasus makes/made some that look kool but I've recently heard that they are done and I'm just getting back ito the hobby so I'm behind a bit. If you have box of parts maybe you have some already. It's a bit pricey to bash another kit for the wheels these days too. Or find a style you like and find a way to get them, as well some tires, 3D printed.
Had this kit in my hand the other day at the hobby shop, should've bought it. Nice unboxing!!! Thank you!!!!
Thanks for watching Chris! I haven't built it yet but I would say go for it if it is available for a good price.

Thanks, that's very interesting to learn. I hadn't made the connection with US service personnel in Europe.
The boxing is responsible for the front pillars being bowed vs the usual type boxing.

Thanks for the sub, just subbed you back.
Awesome unboxing and review springer!
Thanks for watching! Looks like quite a nice kit I think.
@@SpringerModelReviews your welcome brother!
I Didn't know the British appreciated American classic automobiles ?
That's great 👍
Thanks for watching, Howard! There is plenty of love among us in the British Isles for the fantastic cars produced by the US.

BTW the 70 was not the first Trans Am. The 69 was and it was only sold in white with blue stripes and is very rare.
It's a Nice kit!!! Great review. I'll be watching
Thanks Michael, yes I don't think the box really does the contents full justice. By the way, your throwback videos are great, keep 'em coming!
